Shelby!!! think goodness she is super.
everytime Brainiac is on it is frakking awesome. James Marsters is pure genious in that role. then when it was lurking in Chloe it just freaked me the hell out. as a villain every time Brainiac shows up on show i feel real threat and the stakes are high.
too bad Zod never really made me felt that way…
Episode 416 - Lucy
So Lois’ sister was being chased by bad guys?
Can already tell she’ll be annoying.
Even the younger Boy Scouts in my troop are better cooks than Lois.
“No, that’s OK. Lois can sleep in the barn.”
You’d think the stone would have been the first thing Jason and Lana checked.
Yeah, I’m back to not trusting Jason.
Lois at the Talon? That won’t end well.
Chain of command doesn’t work well for families.
Lucy is so hiding something.
And Jason’s already going behind Lana’s back.
“Breaking and entering isn’t my style.” Well, that’s true. Not subtle enough for Lionel.
And Lana caught Jason.
$50000? “Bogus interest”? That sounds BS to me.
And I just noticed that Lois and Lucy both call Dad “The General”. That’s pretty telling.
“Are we there yet?”
“Have you ever been in a car and not uttered those words?”
Pulled over for speeding? Priceless.
OK, not a cop.
With as much care as Becker took with the bearer bonds and not taking the briefcase, taking the car’s a bit sloppy.
Bit of an inferiority complex from Lois there.
Nice jump Clark. Think that was one of the Chloe replacement clips in the opening for 1002.
Clark hiding on top of the semi when Lex and his goons got there?
And then Lucy steals one of Lex’s cars?
Lois not talking should be a big warning flag to Clark.
“Dad, if you want to play games, there’s a deck of cards in the parlor.”
So, either Mom stole the stone or Jason faked the theft.
Holy shit, Lana faked it? Or is it the Countess?
The sibling rivalry between Clark and Lois this season makes their relationship in season 10 seem a bit creepy. Guess the lack of context provided in between makes a difference.
So, Chloe made it through the disc without Clark finding out that she knows. Her not being a big part of most of the episodes is a contributing factor, though.
This was a pretty good episode. No where near as epic as Sacred, but still fun.
Episode 417 - Onyx
What’s Lex trying to do to kryptonite?
Artificial black kryptonite? That can’t be what he wanted.
Surprising openness from Lex here.
“Luthorcorp experiments never end well.”
How many times can Lex see Clark weakened by kryptonite and not figure it out?
Good Lex and Bad Lex?
“Hello, me.”
Iron mask? Nice comparison.
Super hearing is going to save the day.
Evil Lex tried to come on to Lana?
And when that failed, he went back to “playing with his sword” with the same lady as before.
Nice callback to Season 1 with the Lex/Lionel fencing.
Looks like there’s still a bit of old Lionel in there.
“Looks like our favorite billionaire has one hell of a split personality.”
And Evil Lex’s eavesdropping paid off.
Such a blatant trap here.
“Snooping where I don’t belong. I’m thinking of making a career out of it.”
You know, I don’t think this conversation’s really about Lex.
Love Evil Lex’s WTF expression when he turned around.
Just tell him you frakking know, Chloe.
When did The General let Lois back in? Just an excuse not to have her in the episode?
“You’re probably right, but he’s thought about it.”
“Maybe torture him a little bit when I’m feeling blue.”
Kryptonite ring? Not good.
“Maybe the Kents and the Luthors have something in common after all.”
“I am the villain of the story.”
Awesome, awesome scene. If this is what Lex is like when he’s fully turned, I can’t wait.
"I’m really starting to hate the sound of my own voice.
Heat vision on the ring? Awesome resolution.
And of course Lex doesn’t remember a thing.
Error of his ways? Oh shit, Evil Lex turned Lionel back to the dark side.
Awesome episode. Nice vision of the future with fully evil Lex. Nothing to do with the big plot of the season, but great enough that it’s not an issue.
I was a little sad, disappointed when that happened. I liked Good Lionel.
i love that scene. i love all the Lex Lionel scene in this episode actually, but i remember the last one vividly.
Episode 418 - Spell
Prom? Ugh.
Chloe?
Or at least Chloe’s body. Sounds like she got possessed again.
Lana not going to prom? I’d think she’d be a favorite for Prom Queen.
Old Lois is dead? Explains why she never gave Clark the stone.
Clark arranged for Chloe to be nominated for prom queen?
Is that Dee playing one of Clueless’s flunkies?
And Clueless’s boyfriend dumped her day before prom? Classic.
Wow, even I don’t read while driving.
Clueless is dead? And just possessed Martha?
Wow, Clueless is a crappy actor. Not even trying to disguise that her hosts are acting differently.
What is it with Lana getting possessed this season anyways?
Clueless isn’t actually dead?
“What would senior prom be without a body snatching prom queen?”
Clueless killed her body because of her disfigurement?
Well, Clark, I know where you’re coming from. I didn’t have a date for prom either year.
Wow, Lois is looking good.
Well, she’s bossy enough to be Lois, but way too peppy.
“I even went on one of those Google searches. It kept asking if I meant Bing Crosby.”
Jason is working with Mom? And killed Old Lois? And has that stone? Looks like I’ve been right this whole time after all.
“If by some weird reason I win, the tiara burning party’s at my house.”
Surprised Chloe won considering how unpopular she was after Truth last season.
“Little close to the boob, don’t you think?”
Surprised people are laughing at the reference to Dawn since she just died.
“OK, Smallville, I clicked my heels together 3 times and nothing happened. Better tell me what’s going on.”
Wondered why Chloe’d been crying when we saw this stuff the first time.
Why didn’t the punch transfer Clueless to Jonathan?
“Crown’s mine, bitch.”
Clark let Clueless transfer to him on purpose so they could use kryptonite to take her out? Genius.
Wasn’t that a bit fast to get up considering you were “unconscious” when Jonathan used the kryptonite, Chloe?
Did the Kents rent Lana a dress too? Seems like something they’d do.
And now, seeing that, Jason’s probably fully bad.
The plot for this episode was good, but my personal bias hurt it a bit. High school wasn’t exactly a great experience for me, and that had more of an impact on my enjoyment of this episode than most.
it’s alright, high school is just blah for me too, no date for prom either (though i didn’t bother to ask anyone).
so… yeah…
Well, let’s see if I have time to get this written up before Supergirl.
Episode 419 - Blank
Lois is getting pretty good at the coffee business.
Memory trick? Nice.
Was there a clip from every episode in Clark’s flash?
“Who’s Clark?” Oh crap.
“Actually, I think it was locked.”
Damn, Clark doesn’t know that he needs to keep his powers secret.
“Again? Well at least this time you’ve got clothes on.”
“Please tell me I’m not related to her.” Some things never change.
Not the best way to try winning her back, Jason.
Chloe teaching Clark about his powers? This’ll be fun.
LOL at Chloe pulling her coat closed when Clark revealed he had X-ray vision. Not like he could see your birth mark with you facing him, Chloe.
And Clark fell for Lana all over again.
“Premature combustion. That’s one I didn’t need to know about.”
Even when Clark has no memories, Chloe still can’t catch a break, can she?
Kevin’s dad looks familiar. One of the Tollan maybe?
“That place”? Summerholt maybe?
“Run, Clark, run.” Oops, too far.
Lex was sure quick to take advantage of Clark’s memory loss.
Chloe at Summerholt? Don’t tell me they’re going to wipe her memory of Clark’s powers.
Kevin’s dad killed his other son then let Kevin blame himself? Frakkin bastard.
Sheriff Annoying wouldn’t have jurisdiction in Metropolis.
And Kevin’s dad works for Summerholt? Do they have another facility near Smallville? Seems like a flub to me.
And that just happened to restore Clark’s memories? Convenient.
How are they going to… Oh, of course. Thanks, Kevin.
And now Clark doesn’t know Chloe knows? They’re really dragging this out.
“Are you Chloe?”
This was a really good episode for Chloe. Fun to watch Clark have to learn about all his powers again too (and nice gags relating to them). Probably one of my favorite of the season.
You made it in time. (:
They let it drag on a bit, but I thought it was a fun ride though.
The premature combustion gag was great. ^^
Now, I wonder how long, they’ll drag out Clark not knowing Lois knows. If this is any indicator, could be awhile.
my favorite Chloe episode. I think Clark and Chloe friendship was best when they have no secrets from each other. Aside from Clark and Jonathan, Clark and Chloe are my favorite on the show.
Episode 420 - Ageless
Meteor freak baby? Definite age acceleration from the way the mom’s clothes fit.
Where’d the car go?
Lionel and Genevieve seem to have a history. Beyond her getting him out of prison.
“A farmboy, an ex-cheerleader, and Lex Luthor. Who do you think ended up with the prize?”
“Is your milk too cold?” Clark definitely has some extra parenting tricks available.
Yep, supergrow baby.
“I also like the encyclopedia.”
He called Clark dad? Nice.
Level 3 facility? Where Lionel was experimenting with kryptonite?
I can understand Tanner being freaked out about Evan, but that’s still pretty cruel.
Crap. Evan killed his dad.
“Go get 'em, Speedy.” Nice callback to this with Lois in Season 10.
“I think you found us.” And a nice callback to the pilot too.
And Clark contained the explosion. Nice.
How did Lionel poison her when it was her wine?
So now Clark has one stone, Lana has the second, and Lionel has the third (again).
Good point from Clark wondering if he can have kids.
Evan might be the source of a cure for cancer?
And Lex just lied to Clark’s face. The turn’s coming soon, isn’t it?
This was a step down from the last episode, but it had more heart than most episodes. The stuff with Lionel and Genevive was probably significant, but it didn’t feel like there was enough there for it to really qualify as a B plot.
that line i think was the best line Martha had on the show. it was touching when clark said it.
Episode 421 - Forever
The bell rang. Where is everyone?
OK, this is creepy.
Surprised Jonathan is so angry. I could see him being disappointed, but angry seems a bit out of character.
Photo boy admitted to being behind it already?
One last freak of the week in high school?
Chloe should say she’ll play along if he brings Clark in.
Excavation work in the caves? Lex is trying to open the door.
Clark could still go to school in Metropolis and help on the farm easily enough with how fast he runs.
I’d been wondering why Chloe didn’t try her cell phone.
Why does Lana have the stone with her?
How does photo boy move his “wax sculptures” without anyone being suspicious?
Wow, Jason’s mom is a bit of a sadist.
Lana has 2 of the stones now?
Wasn’t Clark on the “most likely” list too?
Nice hit, Lana.
How’d he get to the door so fast?
“Makes us look like the Waltons, doesn’t it?”
Lex actually let Lionel out? I’m surprised he didn’t make a run for it on his own.
Suspicious timing on Lionel’s shot. Almost seemed like he was trying to keep Lex from hearing something.
Wait, there wasn’t any blood on that shot, was there? Setup?
Photo boy did a good job catching that kick.
Nice save from Clark.
And somehow, touching Clark caused his ability to backfire.
“That’s a pretty big footnote to leave out.” Agreed, Clark.
Everything from the Torch fit in one box? Figured the Wall of Weird might take more than that by itself.
“Maybe things won’t change much after all.” A bit heavy handed there. Did they get renewal notice when they were writing this episode?
One of the weaker episodes of the season, but they probably felt like they needed to pay homage to all the “Classmate freak of the week” episodes.
I might get to Commencement tonight, but maybe not.
Episode 422 - Commencement
A few of these “previously” clips seemed pretty random.
Looks like Genevieve pushed a bit too far.
And now the countess is gone? That’s a bit anticlimactic.
Oh crap, people will think Lana did it. Possession isn’t exactly a valid defense, even in Smallville.
Freaky dream.
Huh, what caused the meteor to shatter like that?
Great shock acting from Kristin there.
Lois had a nightmare about a guy in a red cape? : D
“For a woman without a heart, Genevieve sure had a lot of blood.”
Odd way to notify people. Because of the short notice maybe?
Jor-El’s blaming Clark? Still a jerk.
Great Clark/Jonathan scene here.
What makes them think the meteors are kryptonite?
“This time I need you to trust me.” Why not just tell him you were possessed by the Countess again, Lana? He saw it before.
Ticking Clock’s getting annoying.
“I’m having what you’d call a rough day.”
OK, maybe Lionel shooting him wasn’t a setup after all.
LOL at Lois lecturing the soldier on the checkpoint.
“You’re a cub scout out here, soldier. Where’s your den mother, baking brownies?”
Grodin’s on Lex’s staff?
“You did create the son you always wanted.”
You know, the stones giving off a beacon sure would have been convenient sooner.
Yeah, Jason’s lost it.
“You mean a lot more to me than you know.” Crap, new love triangle next season?
“Your curiosity seems to always have a way of landing you in precarious positions.” Runs in the family.
Nice Kents/Jason fight scene.
A meteor hit the house? Damn.
Bit of a flub. Meteor hit 15 feet or so from a pond and the water didn’t even ripple. Would think they’d set up some kind of practical effect for that.
Awesome save from Clark. Very credits-worthy.
Chopper dodging through a meteor shower? That’s a bit over the top.
Awesome matte of Smallville burning.
Woah, Lana’s in bad shape. Of course, that’s understandable given that she was just in a chopper crash.
A ship? Lot bigger than Clark’s.
“To be continued”? No shit.
Awesome episode. Guessing it aired as a 90 minute special. This is right up there with BSG, The Siege Part 2(SGA), and Best of Both Worlds as far as great cliffhangers go. Surprised they didn’t need to do a clip show or anything to pay for all the effects. From Clark being teleported to somewhere with a lot of snow, I’m guessing I was right about the stones being the seed for the real Fortress of Solitude (as opposed to Clark’s barn loft being called that).
Now to comment on the season as a whole. I appreciate them trying a whole-season arc, but their handling of it was a bit hit and miss. It seemed like it was the B plot of episodes more often than it was the A plot. When it was the focus, the episodes were really good, but they could have done a couple more episodes about it.
Damn, had to take out 3 smilies.
EDIT: Oh, and the music was frakking awesome this episode.
and i still have no clue how they paid to get it fixed…
House insurance. As opposed to their car rates (considering how many trucks they go through), the house rate is still probably pretty reasonable.
Surprised that’s all you had to say about such an epic episode.
EDIT: Oh, and I just thought of something else. Since this would qualify as a natural disaster, I’m sure the government set up some kind of relief fund.
relief fund sounds very likely. because i doubt house insurance covers meteor shower, i don’t think my old house was even covered for flood…
i love that episode, and the effect in this episodes were breath taking. but all i can think of is the next episode, when Clark finally gets there. They weren’t kidding when they said to be continued.
Episode 501 - Arrival
Fortress of Solitude. Oh hell yes. And the effect is almost as good as Atlantis breaking the surface in Rising.
Superman theme. Perfect.
And now the new style opening credits. Love it.
Oh crap, evil Kryptonians.
Why would the cops show up in such numbers and expecting violence? I’d think we’d see disaster response teams, not a bunch of cops with guns.
Zod symbol? Thought we didn’t see him until Season 9.
Why would Lois go through the crater instead of around it?
Not even a mention of Jason being in there too? You’d think Jonathan would at least mention there being someone else in the debris.
Chloe’s not in the cave?
And more hot potato with the key this season?
Awesome effect with the reflection of the Fortress in Chloe’s eye.
Did Jor-El just try to freeze Chloe? I could understand frostbite setting in, but it seemed like she went straight from shivering a bit to collapsing.
“I think it’s time you switch into SuperClark mode now.”
Is that the same leg Lana broke in Season 3?
Forty story igloo?
Wow, Chloe’s actually speechless. Don’t see that much.
Whole scene’s just frakking awesome.
Crap, they’re attacking the hospital? Probably most of the town’s there, so they figure Clark will be too.
“You want to find your Kal-El buddy, you gotta start working on your communications skills.”
Nice try, Lana.
“I heard you’re looking for me.”
Crap, that ring doesn’t look good.
Good job, turning it around on them, Clark.
That 2D square thing looks familiar.
Well, at least Jor-El didn’t say what time zone the sunset he meant was in.
Oh, Central Daylight Time. Naturally. Jor-El = dick
“Things’ll be a lot more normal around here than you think.” Not for long, I’m sure.
“Now how could Clark possibly be here.”
“You shouldn’t have.” “Actually, I didn’t.” Clark and Lois still have it.
Clark and Lana back together? I bet that’ll last just as long as Clark’s powers are gone.
Ship’s gone? Hell, Lana told Lex where it was.
Better call Captain Sisko. We’ve got a Founder on our hands.
Great follow up episode. When you’re dealing with super speed, sunset really isn’t a good time estimate, since Clark could have been on the other side of the world by the time Jor-El meant. I know it won’t last long, but Clark not having his powers for a while is going to lead to some interesting stuff.
My single favourite scene in all of Smallville. I started really digging Chloe, and she just became ridiculously hot… too bad she isn’t around much in the final season.
(by the way, the forum suggested me to change favorite to favourite…)
No founder has ever harmed another.
and in the North Pole, the sun don’t set for half an year.
