Smallville

Not sure if I should, since I’m only into Season 4, but I probably will anyways.

Episode 403 - Facade
Whitney cameo. Nice touch to really sell the flashback.
That acne makeup was serious overkill.
Ugh, lots of needles.

“An arm like that is a ‘get out of geek free’ pass.”
Lois failed high school? I thought she was a couple years older than Clark and Chloe.
If Chloe thinks Lois is nosy…

So, Lana just happened to meet someone from Metropolis while she was living in Paris?

And now they’re using Jonathan’s medical problems to rehash finances again? This is approaching Chuck/Sarah “will they, won’t they” levels of overemphasis.
“I’ll be selling espressos, not masterminding hostile takeovers.”

Guess the procedure had a few side effects. Of course, it involving green liquid should have tipped everyone off.
“Last time I checked, you were missing a few prerequisites for being in here.” You checked, Clark? Maybe that bathroom sharing incident last episode wasn’t so innocent after all.

“Must be the same school project Clark’s always working on.”

You know, Jonathan made some good points about Clark being on the football team.

I can understand where Jason’s coming from on having to adjust to being a coach instead of a player. I felt the same way when I first started as an assistant scoutmaster for the Boy Scout troop I volunteer with.

Lois, you need to work on your technique. I suppose digital recorders weren’t common enough yet. Of course, her saying she needs plastic surgery should have been a big enough tip off by itself.

“Kind of let your inner slob out.”
“Yeah, and her name is Lois.”

Loved Lois casually kicking Dr. Fine again on her way out of the room.

“That’s good. I’m going to write that down and use it later.” Still don’t really trust Jason, but I’m starting to like him.

Nice to see Clark standing up for himself with Jonathan.

This was an OK episode, but other than a couple small points, it just really didn’t seem all that relevant. Suppose I’ve been spoiled by the last half dozen or so episodes.

On another subject, do you guys think it would be OK for me to watch Season 10 as it airs? I watched the Season 9 finale and read up on some of the other stuff from the later seasons, so I don’t think it’d spoil all that much. I’ll probably get more out of the episodes once I get up to Season 10 in my watch, but I shouldn’t be completely lost.

i think you will be fine. for me season 6 and 7 weren’t all that relevent, and season 4 and 5 stuff won’t be referrenced that much. either way, i don’t think it will ruin your expereince with season 4 and 5, and that’s what matter :stuck_out_tongue:

oh yeah, Clark checked, with x-ray vision, even.

never trust Jason, he’s Dean Winchester in disguise.

DO IT~ do it~ DO IT~ do it~

Yeah, you’ll be ok.

Since this is the last season, it’s all the preliminary stuff right before he became Superman. I doubt they’ll be covering a lot of ground that hasn’t been touched on many, many times before.

OK. I’ll be watching, but I won’t comment on it in this thread until I get back around to those episodes in my watch.

Episode 404 - Devoted
To be fair, my father would probably make the same call about not starting a first year senior. Of course, who starts isn’t as big a deal in basketball.
Nice bullet time on the shotgun blast.

Coaching is his only income? He must be living in a van down by the river.
Red and yellow not Clark’s colors?
“In the future, let’s restrict our conversations to ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’”

Chloe took a drink of Love Potion #10? That won’t end well.

Love Clark’s awkward reaction to lovesick Chloe. Surprised neither parent showed up, but they already did that gag once this season.

Chloe in a cheerleader outfit?

At least Clark wasn’t hit by the love potion bit, but still, drinking a glass of kryptonite? Ouch.
Nice save by Lex, but bad timing on the healing kicking in.

Clark’s a pretty crappy actor.

“You’re so strong.”
“Uh, you’re so beautiful.”
“I’m so grossed out.”
Love Lois’ facial expressions in the makeout scene.

Wow, Chloe’s looking good. They don’t really play that up much compared to Lois and Lana, but damn.

“Clark, got any explosions up your sleeve? … … … OK, what the hell was that?” Just what you asked for, Lois.

“Superhero and journalist, what are the odds?” :stuck_out_tongue:

“If you break her heart, I’ll come back and break your legs.”
Good luck with that, Lois.

In memory of Christopher Reeve? :frowning:

Probably the funniest episode so far. I know Lois becomes a series regular, but I hope she comes back a couple more times this season. She adds a great new element to the series with her interactions with Clark.

i remember that i had so much fun with this episode.

and yeah, Allison Mack is foine. they gave her pretty crappy hair cuts the first few seasons, but she looks amazing with her new cut.

see what i say about Chloe and Lois = hilarity? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, no TV at all yesterday. Spent the day at Disney with some relatives who came down for a week. Wish I could spend more time with them, but I start on a new project tomorrow and they’re spending the whole week down there.

Episode 405 - Run
Smooth kid. Fast too.
Looks like Red may even be faster than Clark.
Wait, fast and wearing red and yellow? The Flash maybe? Would this be the first other future superhero Clark meets?

Feels weird being on thge other side of keeping secrets, doesn’t it, Lana?

LOL at Clark karate chopping the door chain open.
Woah at Bart running on water.
“What took ya so long?”

Rock collecting? Oh. Green rocks.

Bart hitting on Chloe? Priceless.

“I’m still interested, just not obsessed.” Fine line there.

I thought Bart got him the manuscript. Would have saved some time.

Why didn’t Clark run after Bart took the manuscript?

Great Martha/Lana scene. They really should do more with those two.
Lex just happened to visit that fence at that moment?
Wow at Lex kicking that guy’s ass before getting blindsided.
“Let’s see if you’re faster than a speeding bullet.”
Nice save, Clark.
Why did Bart bother with the kryptonite when he can outrun Clark anyways?

LOL and eww at Martha and Jonathan’s conversation.

Nice self-realization from Lana in the cave.
Looks like Lex’s experts X-rayed it.

“Start a club or a league or something.”
Awesome ending with the race. Especially when Bart started running backwards.

This episode may be just as significant in its way as the Christopher Reeve episodes. To quote a very wise man, Clark “just took his first step into a larger world.” I’m guessing that we see Bart again once either he or Clark finds some more superheroes.

Episode 406 - Transferrence
Nice pass to the water bucket, Clark. Good thing Coach Teague didn’t see it.
The Kryptonian dog whistle is never a good sign.

Lionel is so disingenuous it isn’t even funny.
And that stone has Lana’s symbol. Wonder what that means.
Nice effects on the switch. Hope Clark as Lionel has the powers, or we’ve got a big problem on our hands.

I just realized something. Lois has been in more episodes than Lionel so far, but Lionel’s the one in the main credits. Does that mean he’s going to get out soon, or does the prison play a big role in the rest of the season?

Tom is doing an awesome job of acting completely differently as Lionel in Clark’s body. His voice even sounds different.
And his reaction to Jonathan telling him to pick the tractor up is awesome.
There’s no way he could hold the tractor straight from one end.

Voice verification? I suppose that wouldn’t have been a problem if everything worked out the way he planned.
I like that Martha can tell there’s something wrong.
Involuntary heat vision while hugging mom? Implications… unpleasant. [/Mordin]

“Time to play Who Wants To Beat A Billionaire.”
If that guy is doing 3 life sentences, why does he need money?

“Has the Lionel Luthor Alert suddenly been elevated to orange?”
Lionel is such a bastard. That was cruel even for him.
And I bet Chloe took such an emotional hit that she didn’t even notice him calling her “Miss Sullivan” like Lionel always does.

Lana’s related to the countess? What are the odds of that?

“Account balance is $2.59.” Nice, after all that work, Lex was one step ahead of him.
These little mistakes (like not knowing Clark was the one to break it off) are going to add up, Lionel.

Nice acting from Glover on the Clark as Lionel/Martha scene too.

How are they going to keep Lex from knowing about Clark after this?

Guess Clark knows a few hand to hand tricks after all.
Is that the same klaxon noise that they used on Galactica?
Smooth move with keeping the stone under Clark’s arm.
Oh crap, now Lionel knows.
And he’s healed? Double

Super strength as a side effect of the transferrence? Lame excuse, but Lex seemed to buy it.

And it looks like Old Lois knows more than we thought. How many agendas are in play with these stones? Looks like at least 4, and I still think Jason’s up to something too.

Pretty good episode. Not as fun as Run, but some great acting from Tom Welling and John Glover. Body swapping is a classic sci-fi plot, and they worked it pretty well.

Supes’ powers are explained in the mythos. He is strong, but he’s also tactile telekinetic. He extends a telekinetic field around objects he touches and that helps him to lift/stop/moves objects. It’s not alway handled consistently though. It’s why clothing that are close to him doesn’t take much damage because his kinetic field envelops his body. His cape (is supposed to) takes damage as normal.

The heat vision thing was ew though. I remember that.

Episode 407 - Jinx
Mike’s last name sounds like a bad Scrabble draw.
“Let me guess. You want to buy a vowel?” That works too.

They think Clark’s on roids? They do have a point about someone his size knocking a big guy back so far though.

Mike’s going to try charming Chloe into dropping the story? That’ll work
Offering her a bigger story on the other hand? Maybe he has a better read on her than I thought.

I expected the Jonathan lecture scene, but I would have been pleasantly surprised if they’d let it go unsaid. They’ve beat us over the head with it long enough that it really wasn’t necessary.

“I like the new textbooks.”
And Mike just officially became a creep. Not a meteor freak, though … unless he’s from near Tunguska.

What’s with the kryptonite? Usually there’s a much bigger chunk in the box. And how would Clark have swapped it out without nearly killing himself?
Trying to play normal? I can see where he’s coming from, but that’s extreme, even for him.

Wow, Mike’s power is even more dangerous than I thought.

State championship game being played at Smallville? I’d think they’d have it at Metropolis University or somewhere like that to sell more tickets.
Great Clark/Jonathan scene. Those two actors have great chemistry.
“You’re starting to sound more and more like your father.” Sure hope he’s talking about himself and not Jor-El there.

You know, Pete would come in handy here to back up Chloe. Nice punch, though.

Awesome effects with the slow motion on the field.
“Clark Kent makes another unbelievable play.” More than you know, announcer guy.

Level 33.1? And who else is there?

Lex spilled the beans on Jason/Lana to “help” Clark? That’s going to go over well.

Fun episode. It’s kind of disappointing that Mike’s power is permanently gone, because he was a pretty good bad guy.

Episode 408 - Spell
Insert witty Monty Python witch reference here

“So you found it on eBay?”
“As good as my Italian… which I don’t speak.”
Tattoo glowing? That’s not a good sign.

“That’s no good.” :stuck_out_tongue: Predictable gag, but I still got a chuckle out of it.

Wow, Clark is worse at wrapping presents than I am.
And that hair won’t work either, Izzie, but for a different reason. “They were broken already.”

I thought Lex was going to vault the page rather than display it.
Wow, she’s got some nice powers. Plus, she’s Lana, so Clark will have trouble fighting her.

“I’m gorgeous. Look at these!” Yes, please :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, nice dresses. Too much makeup though.
Clark’s going to get in trouble again, but at least this time it’s just the barn.

Lex played the piano until his hands bled? Ouch.

Nice powers battle.
Clark may have lost the fight, but he’s still a winner in this situation.
How’s Clark going to stop them without his powers when they were still able to beat him when he had them and they didn’t know.

A bit deus ex machina, but considering that the Starblade gave a human Kryptonian powers, I’ll give it a pass.

“And what the hell are we wearing?”

“Magic exists, I saw it… And it can hurt me.”

“Just in case there was any Evil Dead action still brewing.”
And of course the girls don’t remember anything.

“Oh great, possessed by an evil slut.”
She still has the tattoo? I’m guessing this plot line isn’t over yet.

This was an odd episode, but I’m sure it was fun to shoot. Gives Clark another vulnerability (though one unlikely to be able to be exploited much) and advances the Stones of Power plotline.

Superman (in the comics and cartoons) has always been vulnerable to magic. But, there’s just not much of it compared to the Marvel Universe.

it was the first of many that introduced other DC characters into Smallville. Even though there were some misses, generally each of these are pretty awesome and the arc goes somewhere spectacular.

one of my favorite Smallville episodes.

since you didn’t mention it, i suggest you go back to the barn party scene and look for Clark’s dancing… it was epic…

Episode 409 - Bound

Wow, Lex is moving fast. You’d think he’d be a bit more cautious after Desiree and Helen.
The housekeeper opened the door pretty fast after knocking.
She’s dead? Oh crap.
Is it wrong of me to automatically assume Lionel set this up?

Jane Seymour as Jason’s mom? Strengthens my theory that he has an agenda.

“Got to believe someone, Chloe.” Well, Clark, let me know when you find a Luthor that’s not a habitual liar.

Was she obsessed with Lex or gathering intelligence for the set up?

Lex slept with his attourney? Conflict of interest much?

“Let’s reenact the event.”
“It’s for the cause of truth and justice.”
LOL at the mom and kids.
Wow, extreme zoom on the x-ray vision there.

All 911 lines busy? WTF?
“How’d you get past my security?” Well, since all it seems to take is having a pulse…

Huh, maybe Lionel really has changed.

Second chance, Lex? You’re well into double digits at this point.

OK, maybe Jason doesn’t have an agenda, but his mom sure as hell does.
Oh crap, I just remembered why the name Teague seems familiar. His dad’s Robert Picardo, isn’t he?

This was an OK episode, but seems like only a few minutes worth of it will play any role in the rest of the series.

Episode 410 - Scare
Lana’s thinking the same thing about Jason I have since the beginning of the season.
Clark’s bleeding?
Lana knifed Jason? WTF?
Woah, nice transition from the … dream sequence I guess?

“I don’t think going through Jason’s personal things falls under your snoop jurisdiction.”

Wow, this may be the most upset I’ve seen Lex in any situation that didn’t involve Lionel.
Chloe’s mom is insane? Or is her fear that she’s blaming her mom for something she had no control over?
Some kind of chemical leak? And Lex knew about it.
Oh, bacteria, not chemical.

Who would know more about greed than Lionel?
Overturned on appeal. That’s odd.
He tried to bribe the president for a pardon? Wouldn’t put it past him.
He wants to stay? Maybe he really has changed.
Could Old Lois be the person who arranged it? We already knew she got one guy out.

Chloe’s in Lana’s nightmare but Clark isn’t? Oh, maybe because of them living together for a while.
I was wondering if they’d find a way to include the Countess in Lana’s nightmare.

Too early for the cure to work.

Meteor shower? Clark must be infected too.
What are the odds of another huge meteor shower hitting Smallville so soon? Especially one with kryptonite in it? I’d think everything from Krypton’s explosion that was going to would have passed through the solar system when Clark arrived.
What’s with Lana stabbing people in their nightmares?

Heat vision to speed up the process? Saw it coming, but still nice.
So it was up to 1000 degrees, but Lex touched it with his bare hands?
President Lex? Nukes? Oh crap.

And they didn’t reveal who got Lionel out. He knows who it was, but if it was Old Lois, maybe they met when he went to meet with Swann last season.

With all the hints they dropped this episode, Chloe’s got to find out soon.

This was a passable episode, but I’d have to say it’s probably the worst of the season so far.

cause that’s just how great season 4 is.

it could be possible that part of Krypton originally flying to another direction was gravity slingshot into Earth’s path. since it traveled through a longer route, it arrived later.
