Smallville

Episode 318 - Truth

Chloe must be slipping. Of course Lionel blacklisted her father.
Oh crap, kryptonite shower.
Does LuthorCorp have any R&D that’s not based on anything from Krypton? Doesn’t seem like it.

Chloe’s a meteor freak. And she can force people to tell the truth. Obvious ability for her.
And wow, she finds out about Clark’s secret almost instantly. About time.
Looks like the Pete/Clark friendship had started to recover, but then Pete spilling part of the secret almost took them back to square 1.

Oh crap, Chloe just ruined Mrs. Taylor’s family and life. Bad enough that she pulled the secret out, but then she published it without a second thought?
“Wow, there may be some journalistic genes behind those baby blues after all.”
So, is the regular kryptonite driving Chloe a bit nuts (like we talked about a while back), or could there have been some red mixed in?
Well, at least her ability doesn’t work on Clark.

“The outside door was unlocked.”
“Actually, it looked broken to me.”

Wow, Chloe, you should have thought about how badly the truth can hurt before being happy about it.

And Lex is trying to take advantage of Chloe’s abilities. Nice.

So, was him liking Chloe the secret he was really trying to keep, or was it just one he could reveal without infodumping Clark’s story on her.

“As long as you’re online, you want to ask Jeeves how long it takes to die of embarrassment?”

“I suppose a steady diet of truth can wear on a person.”
What’s really killing Chloe is that she can’t get her daily recommended value of BS from Lex and Lionel any more.
Chloe, you may have wanted to lie about where that voicemail really went.

Wow, that’s a big needle.

And nice casual demonstration of Clark’s powers with him ripping the entire seat belt out of the driver’s side of Chloe’s car (btw, why was she driving that junker instead of her Bug?)

And Chloe didn’t actually put all the pieces together? Bit of a cop out there.

Lionel had Chloe’s voicemail erased then called to brag about it? Priceless.

This may be my favorite episode of the season. Great mix of humor and peril. Have to take a bit away for Chloe not learning the secret, because this would have been a great place for it. At least she didn’t find out, then forget everything when she was cured. That would have been a freaking huge cop out.

This scene is what I remember most of Pete’s time on Smallville. I’ve always wondered if there were hints of this in previous episodes. I remember he and Chloe dancing once at school. But, I remember nothing that hinted at more than two friends having fun.

Though, Pete is a guy. So…

Episode 319 - Memoria
Wasn’t Excelsior where Lex met the principal who had it in for Clark? Would have been a nice bit of continuity.
What was Lana doing at the mansion so late?

“When I found you out on Route 8 last year, I didn’t question your mental health.”
Oh crap, Summerholt. That’s never good.
Green pool, that’s even worse.

Wow, the lead box. Nice touch.
Lionel almost seemed like a halfway decent parent there.

Clark, you really could have played that better.
Clark went to Lionel? Wow, he really is desparate.
And Lionel managed to turn it back around on him.

“Find more evidence of little green men in the [not even going to try spelling it] Cave?”
Lex beat me to the punch on turning around Lionel’s comment about Summerholt’s ethics.

Did Lionel hide who he was until they got married? You’d think she would have known sooner that he’d be a bad parent.

Awkward scene between Lionel and Martha. You’d think they were more than employer and employee.

Oh, crap, Lionel lured Clark into a trap. He’s such a bastard.
And Gardner’s even more of a bastard (but not in a good way like Lionel).
“Clark, I need you to relax while I give you a bath in the only substance that hurts you.” :stuck_out_tongue:

Clark remembers Krypton? Nice.

“I will never become my father.” No, Lex, you’ll be worse.

Lex’s mom killed Julian and he covered for her?
Even at 13, Lex was a master manipulator.
Lionel almost seemed sincere when Lex told him.

Awesome Clark/Martha scene. It seems like most of the Clark/Parent scenes are with Jonathan, so that made this especially nice.
Was this 2 episodes in a row with no Jonathan?

Just as great of an episode as the last one, but in a completely different way. Really put a different spin on the Lex/Lionel relationship.

don’t worry, when she really learns the truth, it’s going to be way more awesome.

as for Pete, my impression is that he always liked Chloe, but Chloe liked Clark, and Clark liked Lana, but Lana loved Whit something…

What gave you that impression for Pete?

i think in season one it was mentioned how he had always like Chloe but never told her because she likes clark.

I don’t recall that, but ok.

I don’t remember that exactly either, but I can see it.

Episode 320 - Talisman

Wow, the knife gave him Kryptonian powers. Is it dependent on him holding it, or does he have them from now on?

“Note to self: Forward all telemarketing calls to Pete.”
“Pete Ross passing up the opportunity to oogle Smallville High’s women in spandex?”

Clark certainly does a lot of “term papers” on the Cave.
“Is that a threat?” No, it’s a bribe.

How could Clark use kryptonite on Jeramiah without being weakened too, Jonathan?

JANET!! You may have noticed that I decided just to mention SG/BSG actors in the course of the episode rather than doing the count, just so it’s not as big of a deal if I miss one like I did with Elosha.

“I did it for you.” Yeah, Lex is definitely making a play for Lana.

Lionel only wants the Starblade to make another key? That would be a waste.
“Those caves may not belong to my family, but this barn does, so get out.”

“Jeramiah is desperate to be someone he’s not and you’re desperate not to be someone you are.” Wow, that’s a powerful line.

Oh crap, the kryptonite didn’t work… and the Starblade did.
On the subject of the kryptonite, do they have a battery powered light up meteor rock they use, or do they do it in special effects?

Residual power from Jor-El with the save. But Clark has a scar. Nice touch.
What, did Clark not want to go to super speed wearing a red blanket?

Batter up! Great fight scene.
Lex and Lionel tried to grab the Starblade at the same time? Nice.

Clark, the prophecy said Sageeth was a friend that became an enemy. Lionel sure as hell hasn’t ever been a friend. Clark is just still in denial.

How could the Sullivans afford the Talon when Chloe’s dad has been unemployed for months?

Pete’s been sleeping at the Torch? Must have forgotten to pack a change of clothes that first time.
How did Chloe make the jump between Pete’s mom’s job offer and divorce?

Lex’s theory is that Sageeth is the good guy? Well, the best bad guys are ones who feel completely justified in what they’re doing, so I can see that. Should be a tip off to Clark though.
And a bit of the Superman theme into the credits.

The hits just keep on coming. This is the 5th very good to great episode in a row. A bit more of a lead in to the finale with Jonathan having residual powers from Jor-El.

Episode 321 - Forsaken
Lana flying to Paris first class? Seems like I’ve seen that recently :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh crap, Emily’s back. You’d think they’d monitor her 24/7.
And now, she can apparently walk through walls (without damaging them unlike Clark).

“The whole yo-yo thing with you and Lana. It’s got to stop.”

How was Emily able to knock Lana back that far? Her super speed might help a bit, but not that much.

Lex knew exactly who Lionel was talking about from the beginning of the conversation.
Lionel has a FBI agent in his pocket? Well, that’s not a surprise, but them going after Pete is.

“I made us TV dinners.” Regular gourmet chef, isn’t she? :stuck_out_tongue:

“Would you like some more tea, Emily?” SMASH!
Great effects on the chase, but if Emily can walk through walls, how would the water stop her?

“Luthor family politics can get a little grim.”
I’m surprised Lex trusted that FBI agent with the evidence after Lionel had already bought him off once.

Nice Clark/Pete scene. Seems like this has been building for a while.
And because of it, Clark decided not to burden Lana with his secret. I suppose I can understand that.

“Belle Reve has a habit of misplacing its patients.”

A bit of a disappointment after the past few episodes. Not to say that it was bad, but it broke the string of complete awesomeness. So Pete and Lana are leaving and Lionel got arrested. Did they think they were getting canceled or something?

Note, one of the other episodes I’ve seen had the real Kara in it, so I already knew this one was a fake.

Episode 322 - Covenant

Huh. Naked girl. Super strong naked girl.
Love Clark’s reaction when he opened the door.

Good excuse for seeing Lionel order the electroshock therapy, but wouldn’t Clark be admitting a crime by saying that?

And Loeder just confessed to tampering with an investigation in front of prison guards. Not smart.

“Kara” is really pushy. And she can fly.

“Orange is a good color for you, Dad. Although it might get a little old after 25 to life.”

Jonathan’s blaming Swann for “Kara”? Even with Swann’s interactions with Lionel, I believe he wants what’s best for Clark.

Wow, “Kara” just disintegrated Loeder’s car.
When does Clark learn how to do that?

“We’re the only ones who can preserve the Kryptonian race.” Isn’t she supposed to be Clark’s cousin? Or was that just his idea for cover.

“What is this?”
“A key”
Well, yeah. :stuck_out_tongue:
Nice back and forth with Clark and Lionel.

“If I’m guilty of anything, it’s inheriting my father’s eccentric curiosity for the unexplained.”
Not the only thing you’re guilty of inheriting, Lex.

Step by step, Clark’s losing his connections to Earth. Well played by the writers.

“There he is, just in time to save the day.”

Jor-El, strangling Jonathan really isn’t the way to get Clark on your side.

Love Chloe’s dad’s little smirk when he looked into the house.
Oh crap, they killed Chloe. I know she’s back by Season 7, so the question is was it a faked death, or a “Daniel Jackson death” for the actress to take some time off for other projects?
Lex was poisoned? You’d think after being medicated through his alcohol before, he’d take some precautions.
What does that symbol in the field mean?
Lionel looks wrong without that long hair.
Clark’s the “S” in the Superman symbol at the end there. Nice.

Great season ending cliffhanger. Those last 5 minutes or so were especially intense. So, is Jor-El brainwashing Clark for some task, or is he really trying to help him and doing a crappy job of expressing the need for what he’s doing?

With two premiers to watch tomorrow and Tuesday being just as busy as always, it’ll probably be Wednesday before I get to 401.

LOL, it was worth it just for this comment :stuck_out_tongue:

fake Kara is foine…

that has to be one of the greatest smallville episodes

Episode 401 - Crusade

“It’s a farm. Do they even have addresses?” :stuck_out_tongue:
Lois? Nice

Having Chloe in the opening credits really isn’t the best way to keep up the illusion of her being dead.

Egyptian statue with kryptonian symbols? Wonder if they found any huge round artifacts nearby…

“I think you might want to get him some clothes first.”

I was wondering if Vespa boy was talking about Lana, but I wasn’t sure at first.

Doc Tory is back. And sucking with the power of 1000 black holes by saying to take Jonathan off life support.
“You talk a lot.”
Very Teal’c way of getting past Lois there.
“Guess I’m a sucker for lost dogs and naked guys.”

Damn, brainwashed Clark is almost terminator-like.
OK, I guess he’s Kal-El.
Nice effects on him preparing to take off.

“Says here she was a warrior princess who kicked a lot of ass and broke a lot of hearts.”
“Is that a direct translation?”
That rubbing looks a bit creepy.
WTF? Nice transition, but what happened?

Lois is a bit hyper.
“Give me a nerd with glasses any day of the week.”
“Clark has many sides.”
“Yeah, I’ve seen several of them already.”

“What is it? Bird? Plane?” No, it’s the Kal-Elinator.
How much did Lex see through the hole?

Is that the movie Lois?
And what does black kryptonite do? She said it like Martha should already know.

Treasury of knowledge? And Martha dropped the “Fortress of Solitude” reference for the first time since season 1. Connection there?

Guess the Kal-Elinator was the locksmith Dr. Swann mentioned last season.

Lana’s looking a bit freaked out.

OK, that’s what black kryptonite does. Creepy.

Great Kent family scene in the hospital.
Followed by a really steamy Lana shower scene.

Way to play to Lionel’s ego then figuratively spit in his face, Lois.

“You know, the only thing I like about you at the moment is your mom.”

Great cliffhanger, but the real focus of this episode seems to be establishing Lois. She’s pretty funny, but I could see her getting annoying really quick if they overuse her. Especially when Chloe’s back around and dropping one liners too.

Guessing this sets up the arc of the season with the crystal Lex found and Clark stole. The question is how does the Lana stuff connect to it? Could the lady Lana took the rubbing of have been the protector of another one of the crystals?

that episode gave me goose bumps, especially when Kal-El just shoots up into the air. man that was awesome.

Lois and Chloe together is a world of fun.

Episode 402 - Gone

Surprised the safe house was so close to Smallville. And still has police tape around it 3 months later.

Someone sent a helicopter out after them with a 3 star general in it?
General Lane?

Knock much, Lois?
Martha’s turn to barge in on Clark at an awkward moment. But this time, it actually was innocent.

Lana’s symbol is in the cave?

And Lois blabbed on the chopper tag almost immediately. Guess her mouth’s a bit faster than her brain.

Why wouldn’t anyone have noticed Lois spending all day excavating?
Lionel found a T-1000? Double
Lana with the save?

“The awkward tension is just getting started.”

“Considering your dad has a yard full of tanks out there, I don’t think you should be rifling through his files.”
Clark and Lois already make a decent team.
Wall of weird in the safe house is a bit of a tip off, isn’t it?

Got to admit, smooth move from Lex with faking Chloe’s death.

Clark vs T-1000 in a foundary? Feels like I’ve seen something like that before.
Awesome effect with Clark’s reflection in T-1000’s arm.
Taser Rifle + heat vision = win
“Chloe always told me this town was weird.”

“Do you believe in destiny?”
“I don’t want to.”
Understandable given the destiny Clark thinks he has.

Lionel in Gen Pop? I suppose his crime was a little much for “Club Fed,” but a rich guy in the general population would make a hell of a target.

Pretty good episode. A few bits sort of strained my suspension of disbelief, but not to the breaking point.

I think I might stop taking notes and just give a longer version of my overall impressions, rather than stream of consciousness as I watch. There are some problems with that approach too, but it’s something I’m thinking about.

it will be great either way. that was one of the best Lois episodes. Loved the awkwardness when mom walked in.

The final season of Smallville starts tomorrow. Anyone planning on watching it?

i’ll watch it! i am excited. i’ll be there just for Cassidy alone.

Yep. Watch along with us.
