“Ikenna, a 28-year old construction worker, went to deposit a $8,463.21 Chase cashier’s check at his local Chase branch, only for the teller to decide that neither he nor his check looked right and he got tossed in jail for forgery, KING5 reports. The next day, a Friday the bank realized its mistake and left a message with the detective. But it was her day off, so he spent the entire weekend in jail.”

Moral of the story, don’t do business at Chase. Especially if you may be construed as a suspicious person (who can’t be these days when even congressmen need identification to enter Congress after entering freely for weeks?).
That’s just downright horrific. They should be sued so hard.
It’s really sad, because (in my experience) Chase used to be a really great company. When I got behind on bills in college, they were the only bank that didn’t send out angry letters and make obnoxious phone calls — in fact, they mailed a VHS tape with a friendly spokesperson explaining their willingness to work with customers who had fallen on hard times. And then, after 9/11, they sent out a letter declaring that special consideration would be given to any customers affected by the terrorist attacks in some way. A kind gesture, at the very least.
And yet, in the past few years, they’ve really started going Dark Side.
