why is riker watching that man do his hair?
If I experience nightmares during the next week or so, I’ll come by your place to get some payback for that pic!
Oh you will! awaiting payback wondering what it will be
No you’re confused. Riker’s always got one leg up, showing off his man bits.
Judges reactions
I’ll beat you with my ham!
I’m not gonna say it.
I will.
IYKWIM
I think I’ll start a new trend and go with, “I will if you will”
I still think this was an alright episode, but some of the concepts were poorly executed. I watched it again and I still don’t hate it. Now that I was fully awake and not sleep deprived while watching it I do understand a lot of the faults and poor editing. The Lee/Romo storyline is probably the worst in Galactica history. It was just forced in there to put more drama and tension. I just wonder how Ron Moore is going to explain the cat storyline. If it was a head cat then they did a terrible job of showing that. The fact that Lee asked if he ever feed the cat kind of proved that the cat was there. If the cat wasn’t there they could have made it more apparent in a conversation.
The Tigh/Adama story is actually not bad at all. At first I thought it had to do more with his relationship to Roslin, but that doesn’t seem like the case. It makes more sense he wants to get away from it all or maybe even suicide like said it was in the episode.
This show has so many loose threads like I don’t know for a real minor example who is the final cylon. Tyrol doesn’t even get any screen time anymore. I don’t understand why we need to see the quorum when anything is more exciting than that. As good as Galactica is I don’t think they can really pull off the Scifi legislative group thing off very well. Everything the quorum says can be summed up in a sentence in conversations through characters we actually care about. The quorum also seems like the least effective way to conduct politics. If one of them didn’t agree couldn’t they just leave the room until the vote expired?
To answer your other question. Yes.
Here is my recent favorite:
I am tired of it too. And you know, the idea of the quorum and having scenes built around it isn’t so bad. It’s kind of interesting. It obviously it has to be included because government is a part of life in every society to one degree or another. But could they not get better actors for the quorum? And if not, could they at least give them better dialogue? I feel like the writers subcontracted the quorum members’ lines out to a junior high drama class to write. I mean, it’s absolutely forced and crap.
wow. when i saw the episode online, i thought it was some sort of a fake file. anyway. i feel mighty depressed after this episode. so, do i have to do spoiler tags here? i’d do them anyway. wait. how come there’s no button to do them. shit. how do i do them?
don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled…
- so how come starbuck has turned around 180 from a crazy lunatic chick to all sleeked out calm and composed officer of sound judgement? did i miss something here? i found that more chilling than ever, seeing starbuck act like a sane person. especially in contrast to…
- adama, who has also gone from the most reasonable sound man to the saddest person ever. though i suppose this transformation i can understand much more. i’d expect adama to have been really sad if laura leaves, but wow. it’s the first time we’ve ever heard the old man declare “i can’t live without her”, and that he realizes he was not being objective, yet still is unable to do the right thing. that shot of him sitting there all alone reading the book is probably the reason why i’m feeling so down. (well, that and…holy crap, it’s the end of the episode! why???)
- SIX IS PREGNANT?? holy craaaaaaap. i guess that means a promotion for you tigh! haha. as a “kudos to tapping that ass”.
- the whole lee becoming president plot, even with romo, was just plain stupid. anyone one of us here would have placed lee as president maybe 30 seconds into that storyline. DUMB. and a waste of time. especially since romo’s storyline - while i’m GLAD that they did not show me the cat - was so melodramatic; it’s almost like a really bad plot point in a soap opera. bleahhhhhh. romo has gone from joe cool to joe lame. i think i’m a little pissed at how this story turned out. it was pretty lame.
- i now agree that athena is probably going to die soon. NO!!! all those shots of her with hera with the singing is like a giant neon arrow pointing to her death.
- so, is the doc the final cylon? what’s with all that hand holding and natalie dying scene? is that what they are trying to tell us?
Hi coco. You’ve got the spoiler tags right, but the order’s flipped; the one with the / needs to go last. Not that I’m a spoilerphobe, but I’m sure there are a few out there who haven’t seen it and/or read spoilers yet.
I haven’t seen the ep yet, and I don’t know how to feel about Friday now. At least I’m going in with low expectations–maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
thanks kappa! i knew i was almost right about those tags. heh.
hope no one was tainted by anything. i know i’d be mad if i was spoiled accidentally. i’ve been so good all season. (watching the episode earlier does NOT count as a spoiler. heh.)
i wouldn’t say it was disappointing, but hm. certain tangents of story/characters annoyed me.
Ah, if only abstinence only actually taught that… wait…
But don’t the cylons need luuuuuuuuuurve to have babies?
Apparently not when the Final Five are involved. We’ve all heard Chief’s recent assessment of his relationship with Cally.
SPOILER SPOILERS SPOILERS, I’m too lazy to put the tags up and sick of highlighting things to read them… so don’t read this if you don’t want to.
I’d say that he finally admits to himself/everyone else that he is, indeed, madly in love with her, as he has been since quite awhile ago. I think it might have to do with what he was talking about in Six of One, “I’m tired of losing. I’m tired of turning away from the things I want to believe in.”
That would be so awesome. And would explain why there’s been no baby boom among the Balcubines.
So true.
Maybe I was just out of it, but I didn’t see it coming (perhaps because I didn’t see the whole, hey we can get rid of the next guy in line without killing him bit in Colonial Code coming either). I had the vain hope that they would actually find someone (like those captains) or introduce a new character. Alas.
So hot. I try to get my husband to wear that color and he refuses… not fair.
The quorum could be interesting if there were more substance. That said, I still find it interesting. Just consider how many of the quorum members we know by name, or even which colony they represent. Wait, we don’t. There’s Lee, and Zarek, and Tory. There’s that Jacob guy and I think a woman is named Reza, but we aren’t given any information about how they deal with things, what their interests are, and where they’re coming from. We need all those things if political drama is going to be interesting.
Hilarious.
I also ask myself: where the frak did Romo get a gun?
Guess that scene back in escape velocity with tigh wearing admiral’s pips was a pickup (it would explain why his uniform had em, they forgot to change em back during a reshoot of that scene?)
I have to go with Galaxy Ranger on this one. I think he pretty much hit it on the head. I will have to say that for me the episode seemed hollow and rushed. Things that used to take 2-3 episodes are now being pushed along at lightning speed. Romo is back, Lee is president, Adama quits and makes Saul the commander etc. And none of these things seemed to happen with any sort of believability behind them. I absolutely do not buy that Adama has stepped down for good or that Lee will remain president (at least not without the “guiding hand” of Roslin behind him).
One scene that just seemed like a throw away for me was the Athena crying in the cell scene. What was that for? We knew she was there, and it doesn’t take much to assume that she would be upset in a brig without her daughter.
Oh, and the character of Romo COMPLETELY ruined.
Anyway, I hope next week is better. Viva Battlestar!
I appreciate the backup. I thought I had been a little too harsh maybe, but no, I read my comment over again and that’s exactly how I feel and I’m angry. This isn’t the show that won the Peabody anymore. Okay, it isn’t RDM’s fault that they have to have closure this season, but he had so much time to prepare all this and it still seems written on the fly. And Romo is forever ruined. And the cat still can’t have been dead for three weeks.
