I didn’t get how significant this was until I listened to this week’s Babbage podcast from The Economist. Gamers solved in a matter of weeks a protein-folding problem that researchers and software have been working on for a LONG damn time. Pretty cool.

Marvel Studios may be sending Patty Jenkins, who directed Charlize Theron to an Oscar win with 2003′s harrowing Monster, to the celestial realm of Asgard.
Jenkins, who is repped by CAA, also directed the acclaimed pilot to AMC’s The Killing, as well as episodes of Entourage and Arrested Development. She would be taking on Thor 2 from the original movie’s director Kenneth Branagh. The film is set to begin shooting next April, with plans to be in theaters by July 2013.

You know, when I heard they were doing Bicentennial Man, I got excited. Then I found out Mork was the lead actor, and hoped anyway that it would still be good. When I saw it, I was disappointed but at least they followed the robotics laws.
When I heard they were doing I, Robot, I got excited. Then I found out the Fresh Prince was the lead actor, and hoped anyway that it would still be good. When I saw it, I was disappointed that not only did they break the robotics laws, they tried to say that they didn’t.
Now this is coming out, and I just can’t help but be excited. I’m sure that in a couple months it will be revealed that Joey from Blossom is starring in it, and I will hope anyway that it will still be good.
