Since I consider ‘Transformers the Movie’ the first Transformers movie I guess it is no wonder that little slip happened…

As for the broken link… no idea how that happened. Sorry.:stuck_out_tongue:

I think I have found the perfect movie for an April 1st Movie Frak! It has terrible acting, embarrasingly bad foley work, snicker inducing makeup work… It is an absolute trainwreck of a movie!

I must find this movie! It would be perfect for a drinking game…

Some real interesting stuff about Nolan and teh next batman and Superman flicks

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2010/03/christopher-nolan-takes-flight-with-superman-we-have-a-fantastic-story-1.html

Some highlights…

Batman 3

Jonathan Nolan is working on the script at present - "My brother is writing a script for me and we’ll wait to see how it turns out…he’s struggling to put it together into the epic story that you want it to be.”

Though he won’t confirm if he will direct, the main appeal for Nolan to return is to give his creation an ending, making his work unfold in the classic film trilogy mold: “Batman Begins” (re)introducing the characters, “The Dark Knight” taking our protagonist and Gotham City to the brink, and a third one essentially resolving everything.

Don’t expect Bruce Wayne to just continue on in Gotham either it seems, Nolan says he’s “very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters… viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling and it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories.”

Superman

“It’s very exciting, we have a fantastic story and we feel we can do it right. We know the milieu, if you will, we know the genre and how to get it done right” says Nolan.

Unlike Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” which owed a lot to Richard Donner’s vision of the character in the earlier movies, Nolan’s plans however will stand as their own approach.

That approach actually came from writer David Goyer who is penning the script. Goyer told his approach to Nolan who said “I immediately got it, loved it and thought: That is a way of approaching the story I’ve never seen before that makes it incredibly exciting.”

Off-handedly he shoots down rumors of his involvement in a “Justice League” movie as he believes his Superman will exist in a different world to that of his Batman - “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”

So much for those ‘please turn off your cell phone’ messages before movies. A new German horror film called Last Call is pushing a new ‘interactivity’ gimmick that will have one member of each theatrical audience receive a call from an onscreen character during the film. The ghost of William Castle approves.

Jawbone (via Gizmodo) has news on the film, which harbors some not insignificant ambitions. Last Call won’t just phone up an audience member during the film. Special language recognition software will “transform the participant’s answers via mobile phone into specific instructions. A specially developed software then processes these commands and launches an appropriate follow-up scene. The dialogue between the movie’s main actress and an audience member leads to a different film - and outcome - every time: sometimes with a happy end, sometimes with a more gruesome one.”

So it works like this: you provide your cell number when purchasing a ticket, then software will randomly call one of the submitted numbers. Answer the call and you’ll hear the on-screen actress requesting help. Then the audience member “has to help her escape by choosing a path through the old, rundown sanatorium. Furthermore, he also decides whether she should help other victims to flee the scene -and every single choice shapes her fate: it’s a matter of life and death.”

Amusing concept, sure, and it seems like great fodder for drunken midnight screenings. Maybe not so much for run of the mill events. It is so easy to envision how audience members would mess with the system. “What should I do?” “Eat bacon!” “Lay down and die!” What happens if the person called just hangs up? How many possible outcomes will there be?

Anyway, here’s the sales pitch / trailer:

I played a online videogame (interactive/horror) once that used this as one of the gimmicks, it was quite interesting. I am not sure how I would feel about some stranger effecting the outcome of the movie I was watching. I think this would be far more effective as a interactive DVD experiance for the home.

Wow. I guess studios are trying to up Avatar’s ante. I agree that’s it’s better for a DVD experience though.

20th Century Fox has hired Rupert Wyatt to develop and direct a prequel to Planet of the Apes. Wyatt directed The Escapist which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival to medium buzz and decent reviews. I wasn’t taken by the movie, but I know it was one of Alex from FirstShowing’s favorite movies of that year. The screenplay, titled Caesar (named after the ape who leads the rebellion against the humans in Conquest), was written by screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, The Relic).

The film won’t have talking monkeys and will not end with chimps taking over Earth. Instead the film will be a hard science fiction film about humans that use science to create hyper-intelligent chimpanzees. Fox’s Tom Rothman has said the film takes place before the first film, and that it will be “a return to the social thematics that mark the first one, but with an entirely contemporary setting - Earth 2009.” Of course, he said that last year, so I’m assuming that will be updated to 2010 or 2011. The Lookout writer/director Scott Frank (The Lookout) was previously developing the film for Fox.

I’m still not convinced that we need another Planet of the Apes reboot at this point. The general public is going to need more time to forget Tim Burton’s remake. And the original films still work.

While Marvel Studios still has yet to announce their final choice for Captain America, they have revealed their choice to play the film’s villain. HeatVision reports that Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, Lord of the Rings) is in final talks to play the villainous Red Skull in The First Avenger: Captain America.

While there is nothing concrete, industry insiders and Deadline are speculating that Steven Spielberg might make Robopocalypse his next directorial feature film. DreamWorks Studios and Doubleday have acquired the property in November in a pre-emptive deal. Daniel H. Wilson’s unpublished manuscript (due in 2011), Robopocalypse tells the story of “the fate of the human race following a robot uprising.” Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard has been hired to pen the big screen adaptation. Spielberg directing a film about the robot apocalypse written by Goddard? Consider me excited!

Robopocalypse won’t be a hugely fantastical tale of the robot uprising, but aims to be more realistic. Wilson has a background in robotics and artificial intelligence which Doubleday Executive Editor and Vice President Jason Kaufman claims “grounds his story with a frightening level of realism and he has created an exhilarating story that we think audiences will really respond to.” Wilson has a Ph.D. in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute, is a contributing editor to “Popular Mechanics,” and hosted a show on the History Channel called “The Works.” So yeah, expect something a lot more realistic than Transformers or Terminator Salvation.

You might recognize Wilson’s name as his name is all over a bunch of those novelty survival guide books, including the 2005 book “How to Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion,” which was optioned by Paramount Pictures, and “Where’s My Jetpack?: A Guide to the Amazing Science Fiction Future That Never Arrived,” “How To Build a Robot Army: Tips on Defending Planet Earth Against Aliens, Ninjas, and Zombies,” and “The Mad Scientist Hall of Fame: Muwahahaha!” His next book, titled “Bro-Jitsu: The Martial Art of Sibling Smackdown,” which has already been optioned by Nickelodeon Movies, is scheduled for release next year.

Bender’s voice gives this scene a whole new feel!!!

Facebook has overtaken Google (GOOG) to become the most popular website in the United States for the first time, according to new data from Hitwise, which measures Internet traffic. For the week ending March 13, the social networking juggernaut registered 7.07% market share, beating the search giant’s 7.03% market share.

Priest

//youtu.be/lhGALP0llQ4&

Official Plot Synopsis: Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.

That may be ok… If they picked another iconic cult bad guy other than vampires…

Im sold. Always enjoy Karl Urbans work.

Cool! I’m so posting that to my facebook profile!

wonders how many “What the frak?!” this will garner

Edit: I found one with a cat…

//youtu.be/_VfSl0iGAus

That’s cruel and amusing.

I can understand why cats would need to be shoved into one of those, but dogs? That is just lazy…

I worked in a pet grooming salon for about three months, dogs are easy to wash if you are patient and understanding. In fact the human contact is what calms them down, your soothing voice and rubbing them down is what calms them. What freaked out the more high strung dogs was after the bath, shoving them into a cage and turning on the blowdryer mounted into the door.

They would literally shit themselves… So they would have to be bathed again, and sometimes a third time. I used to call dogs like that SHITzu’s.
