“Some apes are more equal than others.”
That is a paraphrase from Orwell’s political satire, ‘Animal Farm’.

“You cut up his brain, you bloody baboon!”
gigglesnort
BTW, there were tests for baboon makeup but were scratch for the film.
The book apparently had the wild humans wandering around naked like animals (or maybe just shirtless, can’t remember).
I loves me some Orwell.
We need to frak the “live action” version with Patrick Stewart some time.
See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
Say what you want about the ending of this film, I feel the most powerful moment is the “See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil” scene in the court room.
It was a very strong scene for sure. Now if they could figure out “Do no evil.”
No one is evil in this. Even Zaius has a conscience, he doesn’t destroy Taylor until he finds out all Taylor knows. He fears for his people.
He also knows the truth.
I don’t know that. What is that?
Pierre Boulle got the idea for his novel from watching apes in the zoo.
Sorry but despite the fear for his people to hide the truth by lobotomizing Landen to hide evidence is evil and self-serving.
Taylor taking Nova this time when he escapes, is supposed to show his character changing. But c’mon we all know why he takes her along.
Not from the ape perspective, which is the whole part. We, humans that is, are afraid of things that are different.
There’s also the religious aspect to consider. For all intents and purposes, Taylor and those like him are the Antichrist.
In the commentary, it just mentioned that they were trying to make another ape film since the 80s. James Cameron was involved (as well as some other high profile directors). Imagine that, a James Cameron Ape film would have been amazing. Oh wait…hmmm…blue apes
I’m adding it to my Netflix queue.
“There is no contradiction between science and faith. True science.”
That was an axiom up until about a century or so ago.
“The more ancient culture is the more advanced.”
Love that. So fascinating.
The 13th scroll. Not the 13th scroll!!
The film starts with Taylor talking about being humbled by the vastness of space. He is broken down throughout this film. In a way this is about his (our) humility.
Lucius looks a little like Wolverine.
