Other 80's sci-fi shows that RDM should "re-imagine"

Oh, like the troubled production of the US version of “Life on Mars”?
I know what you mean.

(I’m actually still hopeful that they’ve got the kinks out now that they’re reshooting LOM)

Come in Orson, you nanoo-fraker!. I’ve inseminated the female specimen. Now get me off this Shaz-fraken-baaaaaat of a planet before I na-nuke the place. Mork out.

OMG, I was just lurking around Youtube and I found the opening for a show that I have been vaguely remembering in the back of my mind for a long time. I could never remember the title and my family was no help. I couldn’t recall more than the basic premise and it would just pop up once and a while. It’s a amazing felling, like solving the last piece of a puzzle. I know you guys know what I mean. Looks like they are on DVD so I am Netflixing them as we speak (or should I say, as I speak, for latter readers). It is always fun to have a bit of nostalgia. Oh, bye the way, the name is Voyagers! (It is similar to Quantum Leap)

LOVED that show. I recognized it immediately from that poster frame. I’ll have to find a few episodes and see how it holds up.

If they made a live action Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers movie, I’d be their biggest groupie, I’d like live in the theater and watch it 24/7 till I’d have to puke.

Anyway, if you liked the Galaxy Rangers, you NEED to check out “Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs”!!!

Awesome news! Next to Star Wars and TOS Trek V was one of the earliest Sci-Fi shows I was into.

A show I wish they’d remake that didn’t last long is Earth 2. A great show that was nuked.

I recently got into a BBC show called Blake’s 7. I think that show would make a great re-make.

Well good news for you then, there are plans to remake it, well at least there were… not heard anything about it for a few months.

I was a fan of the original series and it’s got good remake potential, it will be interesting to see if they play it straight or keep in some of the comedy elements of the original.

You all are making me long for the “good old days”.

I just saw that they are releasing a DVD set for a very old TV show that would be great for a redo. The show is called “The Starlost” and it’s about a giant space ark that had a problem and the various environments in the ark are sealed off from each other. Then after a few generations of isolation, one group of people either escape or are exiled from their environment and they figure out where they really are and try to fix the ark.

I remember this show when I was a very little kid, so I don’t remember how good the writing was, but I think it would be a great story idea for RDM to do.

Here is the Amazon link for the DVD set.

“V” also gets my vote… that would be a.w.e.s.o.m.e!

BTW, whatever happened to the original BBC series Life on Mars? Is it cancelled? I don’t remember the show’s plot lines being sufficiently resolved when the show just ended! Have I missed some episodes?

Ah, trolling the archives…

“Voyager” led me to think of “Automan”, which I know had been discussed ages ago, but along a different topic…but then it occurred to me that due props had not been given to “Manimal”, for all its glory…

…A 26-minute program where each “morphing” sequence ate up 2 to 3 minutes? Sheer screenwriting genius!

Totally be down for a New V

One show that I loved to death was “Space Above and Beyond.” That would awesome if they redid that one.

Another vote for V…I loved that show. When the aliens got damaged and their human face would be half hanging off? Brilliant. Excited to hear about a movie!

Going back to the 70’s here, I’d love to see a remake of Buck Rodgers (or, considering what happened to Bionic Woman, maybe I wouldn’t).

There was a show I watched when I was young…I think it aired around the same time as the Hulk. The main character was a kid who was an alien? He had special powers…I think telekenesis, or maybe he froze time. All I really remember is that he stared at things, and things happend. :stuck_out_tongue:

We have a thread somewhere for that show, I’m a big fan myself. I’d be content with just a second season.

That sounded for a moment like the Brit series The Tomorrow People, but that involved a “school” of kids, who were genetically advanced, not alien (paging Dr. Xavier, paging Dr. Xavier…).

The only other thing I can think of is the half-baked series Out of this World, but that doesn’t match either, as that was a :::cough cough::: comedy, and a female protagonist…

I enjoyed the Space battles, I didn’t really care for the ground stuff all that much. but it was still a good show. ahead of it’s time, thats when you know it will get canx after season 1.

It may be a little “recent” to revisit (is 1994 too soon?), but I absolutely LOVED the series Earth 2 at the time…I’ve always been a huge fan of Tim Curry, and Clancy Brown as well. An interesting enough idea of colonization on a former prison planet, but if anything struck me as a little odd (other than the little blond boy character), it was the back-story they tried to work into the subterranean “aliens”.

Yet again, another series cut short without closure. =P

Thanks for trying! I’m beginning to think I made the whole thing up.

sorry, i’m more distracted by your avatar… it’s sooo cute~! :D:p;)
