Other 80's sci-fi shows that RDM should "re-imagine"

hi all,

i have this geek hobby of collecting tv themesongs… and lately the theme from “Misfits of science” has been giving me an earworm… anyone remember that show? When Courtney Cox was still a teenager? My favourite character was G-man, who would shoot lightning bolts from his hands.

btw, any feedback on the GWC ringtones idea? heheh… ^_* I’d like to invite the rest of the watercooleans to contribute some, yea?

say, is lawyer Bill & Boxy on this board?

Boxy is, I’m not sure if Lawyer Bill is or not.

I’d LOVE to see someone redo “UFO.” That would be a relatively easy update to do.

Badass sorry barb new “V” would rock!

ooo, remember the Lizard people from “V” ?.. i heard there WAS a remake recently? but i didn’t get down to seeing the new one…

Not yet, but it looks like soon.

Thought I’d add a link to this older thread, 'cuz even though we weren’t limiting it to just the '80s, there was some funny stuff there.

Mork & Mindy!! Nanoo Nanoo!!

Yes, but a very dark, reimagined Mork & Mindy.

Gilligan’s Island?

Oh, wait. That’s Lost.

Never mind.

“UFO” would be an interesting redo, make it something like X-Com. But would they keep the decor and 60’s style purple hair?

For a second I had thought about “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”, but that was already done as “Seaquest”. And there wasn’t a lot of drama there either.

How about 'The Prisoner"?

Well, yeah. What would be the point otherwise?

OK, keep the purple hair for the “UFO” redo. (Along with the really hot Moonbase crew)
but the rest of the decor really needs a military upgrade.

That’s in the works right now as a BBC miniseries and I can’t wait.
Sir Ian McKellen is the new No. 2!
Check out these news links here, here, and here.
I’m in the middle of a rewatch now, while reading the original annotated scripts. (2 volumes hardbound on Amazon)
I just hope they don’t frak it up.

This is great news, and since it is the BBC that is doing it, it’s more likely to come out good than not. If it were a US TV network that were redoing it, I wouldn’t be as hopeful.

…getting off tangent a bit here, but which is more “ultimate”? Is it the penultimate? or the denoument?

Speak of the devil! V is really coming back!

Starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder… sound track by Danny Elfman.

Yeah, that would be pretty awesome, actually…

I think one could do something with a “re-imagined” Mork and Mindy done as an “Enemy Mine” type of deal (somethng I suggested way back before there was a forum in a different context). I never cared for that show, but it has possibilities for a serious drama rather than some cooky comedy with a coked-out lead.

That’s so 1992! It would star, oh, I don’t know: Heidi Montag and Shia LeBeuf and have an all-Emo soundtrack.

hey, i LOVE Robin Williams! in fact, i loved watching Mork & Mindy even before i could speak. Nanoo Nanoo is beyond language, but yeah, there was an objective plotline that Mork’s superiors wanted to take over the world; that and Mindy was a babe!

I’ve got some more ideas - that 80’s cartoon Galaxy Ranger (that’s why the nick sounded so familiar!) had really cool looking Vipers. It oughta reimagined into a practical (i.e. flesh & blood) set.

Another one I’ve got is not only a cartoon, but a re-imagined one! I feel that Batman Beyond rocks and shows that american cartoons are almost getting close to japanese anime standards in terms of artistry and storytelling. It deserves to be made into a practical (sorry, i’m mixing up technical screenplay terms here).
