I’d like to throw my vote for the 7:10, because I’ll likely be busy during the day. There could be a dinner beforehand that I may or may not be able to attend, but thats what works best for me.
That would be cool mark me down as interested, and indecisive.
Oops, I just checked the web page and realized that only the :10 shows are IMAX and the :30 ones are in a standard theater! I’d personally vote to see the movie first (maybe the 4:10 one) and then eating dinner so we could discuss it a bit afterwards.
So what we have so far is meetup in NYC. Probably doing the theater near Grand Central.
Still need date and time and someone to take the ball on coordinating and reservations.
Saturday is doable for me, but I need at least a week lead time so that I can let my co-host know I won’t be in or I have to leave early.
A Saturday afternoon show and dinner afterward would be good with me. I have to take the train in, so I’ll be coming in at Grand Central.
Just thot I’d give this a bump. So is this happening? I’m planning on taking that whole weekend off in any case, but it would be nice to have the plans firmed up beforehand.
Well I think first we need to decide on a date…
Friday May 8th
Saturday May 9th
I prefer May 9th, just to give us all a little more time to hang out.
Then a time
I think we have settled on the location (NYC) and Theater (Times Square) - someone correct me if I am wrong.
I think we need to decide this weekend, giving everyone 2 weeks to settle up plans, but I am thinking we need to purchase tickets soon.
Sounds like a start. I agree with May 9th as well to give us time to hang out. Those of us looking at me who will see it on the 8th, will have no problem seeing it again on Sat.
We need a list of people. I’ll setup a social group.

Join the group and state if you are able to attend.
That’s okay 'talos, this will probably be the second time I see Star Trek as well
It looks like we’ve settled on a 4:10 IMAX show on Saturday the 9th in Times Square. Please join the social group (see link above) for more details.
OK, if we are settled on a time, I take it we should purchase tickets…
Can one of you point me in the right direction, or was it posted earlier and I just missed it.
Just want to make sure I purchase tickets to the right theater.
ETA: never mind, I found it, ticket purchased
I have my tix, the XO and I will be attending. Those of you taking the train in from CT: please PM me with your thots on what train you might take up and back, perhaps we can train-pool!
Could someone give me either the name or the neigborhood of the theater? I went to Fandango and they listed 6 places, but I’m not familiar enough with NY to know which one we were talking about.
Thanks.
So you actually want to use movietickets.com and not Fandango. I’ll repost the details from the meetup group here for you and anyone else who needs them:
To buy tickets, go to www.movietickets.com then search on zip code 10036 and “Star Trek: The IMAX experience”. Put in May 9th for the date, 4:10 for the time, and AMC Empire 25 for the theater.
AMC Empire 25
234 West 42nd St.
New York, NY 10036
We are doing the Imax show at 4:10 pm
Thanks. I just looked at Fandango and I can’t buy tickets there. I hope it isn’t because it’s sold out. Is there a B site to buy through?
If anyone has any questions about transportation in new york, or even regional transportation, please feel free to ask i consider it my area of expertise:-)
You are not clear on the concept. There is no instead, just first and second.
Sorry, line for a frak watch. Please ignore.
OK, what I ment to say instead of what I actiually said in the last post,
Everyone thanks for the pointers, I just got my ticket. The GF can’t make it because of her work, so it will just be me.
I’ll be taking the train from one of the Brewster stations, don’t know what time yet.
Does anyone know of a good restaurant after the movie? I would prefer Thai, Indian or Italian, but I’m OK with anything other than seafood.
There are enough options within walking distance of Times Square that I doubt we’ll have trouble finding one after the movie.
Oh I was also going to ask, do we want to have someone compile email addresses and cell phone numbers? I still have the spreadsheet Raemani compiled for the big Dallas meetup but I don’t think everyone coming to the New York meetup is on it.
We probably should at least exchange phone numbers. We could just build off of the one from Dallas.
I know you, me, TG, Talos are all on there (I think), so we just need those who aren’t to PM either you or me with number and e-mail address so we can share it at the end of next week so everyone can get in touch.
Raemani, I PMed you with my contact info.
