MGS 4 News

For those that love the metal gear solid series than some of this news won’t be to big but for those that don’t then well here ya go.

First the japanese bundle has been revealed whether the US bundle will have the same kind of ps3 is uncertain (and i am kinda doubtful) but who knows we might be able to.

Linky to story

One of the few games that might tempt me to get a PS3 (along with GTA IV), still too expensive though.

Im totally buying a PS3 for MGS4

well Ighost I am pretty sure that the US aren’t getting the Steel ps3 but who knows it could change. But they are releasing a bundle for the US as well. Playstation 3 (80 GB - that has backwards compact), Dualshock 3 controller, and MGS4 for 500 bucks. A high price but seeing as this is the biggest game this year probably off of all the consoles and its the first time dualshocks are going to be in US i am willing to pay it lol.

Well did any of you get your Metal Gear Saga Vol 2 DVD’s that include the MGO beta yet? Me and my friends have been gathering them from various gamestops and so far I have 4 of them  We are getting a Metal Gear PS3 bundle in the states btw, but it wont be gun metal sadly.

Yea I saw, that really disappoints me. Japan gets all the cool collectibles :(. And no I don’t have MGO beta because even if I got in I am getting the bundle because I don’t have a ps3 yet.

Same with me. I dont have my PS3 yet, and I plan on getting the MGS bundle as well. I preordered the limited edition version of the game because I know once it comes out, just like the limited edition of snake eater, it will sell for way more than its original value is. The beta dvd is cool though, its actually the saga vol 2 dvd (im not sure if you were able to get the saga vol 1 back when snake eater came out or not) which contains tons of videos relating to the history of the metal gear story and characters.

BREAKING NEWS!!! It seems we will be getting the gunmetal PS3 after all! It will come packaged in with a MGS4 limited edition bundle. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/865/865857p1.html I for one, am so excited I cant sit still!

I am really looking forward to this game. I played the original MG on the NES, and I loved it. Played snakes revenge as well, but that was not the true sequel. Played MGS and it is still my favorite game. MGS2 was good, but I didn’t care for the story. Loved MGS3 and I bought the subsistence version afterwards which rocked. You want to talk about challenging, I beat the Boss on the hardest difficulty level (European I think?) nonlethal, which was very epic.

Basically, I am saving up for a PS3 despite all the craaap I have said about it, just for this game.

I couldn’t tell from the article, but will this console version be backwards compatible? Big thanks to anyone who knows.

Ive spoken to some people about this, and as of right now the answer is no. It is going to be backwards compatible only through the online software service which lets you download older games.

Oh well. Thanks for the info. I will have to do some more research on backwards compatibility, because I think I have heard some people say they have problems with the games when they download the emulators, and I really want to be able to play my PS1 and 2 games on the PS3. With the same issue on the 360, it’s a nightmare.

Before you make a decision, consider this - Even with a backwards compatible PS3, its still a bit of trouble to get your saved games from your PS1 and PS2 memory cards onto your PS3 hard drive since the PS3 doesnt have memory card slots. It has to be done via your computer. Do you really want to lose all of your saved games? Also, there is an under $100 ultra slim PS2 model coming out later this year (its suppose to be about the size of a DVD movie case). I for one plan on getting a PS3 and also one of the cheap PS2’s to play my older games on.

That’s a good point about the save files. I still haven’t Beaten FF12 yet, so I don’t want to lose that file! Problem is my PS2 bit the bullet a few months ago, and if I am saving up for a PS3, it is hard to justify the cost of buying two systems. I think I will probably try to get the gunmetal edition, and see if I can transfer over my old saves, and see how the backwards compatibility works out. if it doesn’t work out smoothly, I can eventually pick up one of these slim PS2. They did the same thing with PS1 if I recall.

Anyhoo, Thanks for the suggestion.

OMG, Gun metal grey ps3 bundle coming to the states but going to be rare. Dunno how they are going to sell them or contest them maybe.

Heres the trouble, we dont know exactly what stores are getting these. We know gamestop is getting them, and we know gamestop employees get first dibs on stuff like that. My fear is that every single one that they get in will be snagged up by the employees. Now my cousin was just in to his local gamestop last week and asked them about this exact scenario, and the employee responded by telling him that she didnt think that would happen because all of the employees already have a PS3 and wouldnt have much interest in getting another one even if it were gunmetal. I am not sure I believe this however, because even if they didnt keep the thing for themselves they could sell them on ebay. You know those things are going to fetch top dollar on ebay. Sadly gamestop is NOT accepting pre-orders on them.

Is it only gamestop that will be getting the gunmetal ps3’s? I know they are the only retailer that will be selling the limited edition version of the actually game.

This remains unknown as of yet, but one thing we do know is they are one retailer who is for sure getting it. I have to hold out hope though that maybe best buy will get it too, or another retailer as such. Im willing to stand in the lines in the dark for this one.

Ok, I have more less confirmed that gamestop is the only store that is getting the gunmetal PS3 bundles. i have confirmed that they are the only store that is getting the limited edition of the game its self.

So I went to my local gamestop, and even though they were fairly clueless on the MGS4 front, they figured they would probably get about 20 of the gunmetal units in. apparently, Amazon is having a MGS$ bundle being released as well, and the system will be completely backwards compatible, though not in the gunmetal edition.

Wow, thats way more than one of my local gamestops told me. They told me they might get 3 or 4 of them in.
