Matrix Re-watch

I loved the first one and will re-watch it. But personally I thought the second one totally blew and refuse to re-watch it. Never bothered with the third one, prolly never will. But hey that’s just me. I’ll still listen to the podcasts on them.

So are you guys up for a Matrix Frack party series? I’m thinking we would use the same method we used for SW and what you guys do during BSG. The question is where should the frak pary threads go? In this board or the other Sci-Fi board? Anyone interested?

I felt the same way about movies 2 and 3 the first time I saw them. It wasn’t until I bought the box set and watched the documentary of the entire trilogy from a philosophy stand point that the other movies made any sense to me.

I would definitely be interested, but i couldn’t participate until after next weekend (I’ll be away from a computer)… so I guess that means I would only be in for #3. Alas.

I would also include the second Matrix as good, the third…not so much.
I loved Reloaded because we learned more about the inner workings of the matrix. The architect, the rogue programs like the merovingian, the key maker and the multiple Smiths. It still seemed like the story was going somewhere.
I’m hoping for an epiphany, but I always thought the Matrix saga did not end well.

I’m in the same boat, loved the first one, disliked the next two. It seems as if they neutered Neo to eek out two more sequels. I don’t know if I can bring myself to rewatch these…

For me, first was Amazing (still #1 favorite movie), Second was very satisfying to have it finally returned, third I was somewhat disappointed with at first… but then I realized the reason I was somewhat disappointed was because it didn’t really having an ending so to speak, but because it didn’t end, the universe could continue.

Although to the best of my knowledge, it’s only been continued (as I understand rather poorly) in the MMORPG I’m still hopeful that maybe the Brothers or somebody will maybe pen some books or something someday. Unlikely, but hopeful.

General Zod–LOVE your username and Avatar!!!

Keara I am with you. I rewatched the first one and enjoyed it again. I think the ending gives you the chills and what if that begs not to be answered. That maybe why I did not get to into the other two movies. The ending speech leaves you with questions that should not be answered. The idea that reality is well or isn’t.

Strangely the Star Wars movies and the first 2 Matrix movies were on TV the week we were to rewatch them. Now what I want to know is do the big 3 look in the TV Guide or are these movies just on all the time? The third choice is they are all powerful and made the movies just happen to be on for us to watch. Makes you think. Maybe they control the matrix.

Great idea for a rewatch! So are we watching ALL of the sequels?

I know I haven’t seen these movies in a while, but I don’t remember the purple m&m. :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed. The first was downright revolutionary and utterly breathtaking in visuals and storylines. I was so excited going into the 2nd and so disappointed coming out. I only watched the 3rd out of some misplaced sense of obligation.

It seems as if they neutered Neo to eek out two more sequels.

QFT. Neo was essentially a god at the end of The Matrix, seeing the “world” as illusion to the point that he was immune to its laws of physics. Afterwards, he was… less so. :frowning:

I don’t know if I can bring myself to rewatch these…

If the GWC can make me appreciate the SW prequels in some small way, maybe they do the same for these sequels. Maybe.

BTW, welcome, GeneralZod!

Neo doesn’t realize his potential till the end of the first.
What made it great was discovering the ‘world’ and sorta following him down the rabbit hole.
The second, for me, became curiouser and curiouser especially the scenes with the architect.
As for being neutered, I don’t know, he goes from learning how to defeat one Smith to kicking the s*** out of like 300.

So with a new arc comes a new round of frak parties. I suggested this in the re-watch thread and a few people seemed interested. So is this a good idea? Anyone want to jump on the band wagon?

I’m thinking just start off with the original and then either go with the Animatrix after that or just the two main movies.

Sunday at 4 (EST) good for everyone?

Why break tradition? That time seems to work best. Thanx for setting this up Tighfighter.

Oh. And it’s Frak Party.

I’m getting myself all prepared for the rewatch. I’ve got Animatrix (which I’ve never seen before) from Amazon Unbox, and I’m off to the library today to borrow The Matrix.

The Matrix is an outstanding, groundbreaking and very original movie. Reloaded is very good and did what a sequel should do which is bring things up a notch—it was very memorable. Revolutions—I guess it wasn’t all that memorable because I have trouble remembering anything really unique about the movie. But hey, just to put things into perspective—I’d much rather watch a not-so-great Matrix sequel than a better-then-average Police Academy or Die Hard sequel.

yeah, its gonna be great.

…i feel that I should be at this party… but i’m on the dark side of the globe… ~_~

…i’m just saying… everybody in BSG is lying in a tub of goo…

bummer dude, ya we need to have a second thread for all the people on the dark side of the globe.

…btw, it’s actually 23:20 hrs, 14th Aug 2008 over here.

P.S. what is this “Zulu” business you always see on JAG?

Just means Greenwich Mean Time
