Matrix Re-watch

“You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.”

Ok - I’m willing to re-watch these. I didn’t really enjoy them the first time around but maybe I’ll enjoy them now. Of course, the first time around it was the hubby’s idea to see them and I wasn’t all that excited about it.

I’m kinda’ where you are. I loved the first one, though. The other two were “meh” for me. Maybe on the re-watch I’ll enjoy them better. Visually the Matrix is very cool. Story-wise, the second two left me :confused::confused:.

I agree. I think a lot of my problem is I enjoy watching movies and such but I’m not always in the mood to either follow a complicated storyline or learn something. Sometimes I just want to not think and laugh like crazy or watch things blow up!!!

The Matrix storyline is pretty straightforward but the next two films have (as Shrek would put it) a lotta layers. This guy wrote two essays that helped me enjoy the sequels better.

I recommend checking them out.

Whether it was poor execution on the part of the Wachowski duo or pressure from the suits for more action, I don’t know. It’s difficult to do the cerebral stuff yet each character in the Matrix films has a purpose and meaning behind. I would have enjoyed more character development and less explosions in the sequels. Speaking of poor decisions, the whole sequence of the rookie in the fire fight could have been left on the cutting room floor.

yes i have been waiting so long for this, im so excited!!!

Just in case people aren’t aware…the crüe has discussed the Matrix before with an outside expert, “The Very Jerry”. Download episode 22 if you haven’t heard it!

The problem was that Wachowski Brothers (yes BROTHERS) planned to have a prequel about the creation of the matrix and a sequel but Warner Bros said no one would see a matrix prequel without any of the main characters in it. So the Animatrix was made and the Sequel was split into two.
Although I did like the sequels , they just weren’t as good as the first. I wished they had more guns in the sequels. Too much karate for me.

Ok - to get into the spirit, I changed my avatar to a Matrix avatar. Only what, 5 or 6 months until BSG comes back and my avatar can return to normal?

I’ll have to check that out. Thanks, FT. I loved the first one and like the animatrix a lot, too, but never even saw the third one becuase number two left me so cold. So I’m looking forward to watching with new eyes.

I keep seeing that. I agree that three was a let-down, but I thought two was solid.

It’ll be interesting to watch them all again.

I was just listening to the “Very Jerry” podcast on The Matrix. The timing couldn’t be better. Looking forward to hearing all the theories for this trilogy.

Welcome aboard, RedFive.

A lot of the fun of the Matrix Trilogy were the theories that sprouted up after the second one. I’ll try to re-introduce those this go-round.

I hear you Pike. However, if the recent Star Wars arc is any indication the crüe has the singular ability to point out aspects that had previously been not considered or shed new light on the subject matter. I am a huge fan of the first, somewhat of a fan of the second and not much of a fan of the third…I fully expect that I will feel differently after the re-watch.

Three wasn’t a let down for two reasons:

  1. APUs aka badass motorized loaders/Mechs

  2. Double barrel RAWKEY LAWNCHAIR

As I’ve mentioned… I was OK with the first one, and downright apathetic verging on dislike for the other two… so I’m hoping GWC works its magic to make the Matrix cooler to me

And thanks for the suggestions and links… I’ll def be checking them out when I get a chance.

Matrix 3 spoilers

Seriously

singehandely makes Revolutions enjoyable imo

What Sean said about the bullets in the cast, though. So true. A new high in action sequence filmmaking was achieved in that scene where you know Neo is shooting the frak out of the room but all you see are the shell casings dropping like rain. I love it more every time I see it.

Lobby shoot out is a gun nuts wet dream. ergo I thought it was JAWESOME

I guess I’ll actually have to go rent them now (although I did find Matrix Reloaded (or whatever in the $5 bin at Walmart the other day). I did try and watch it on the plane to London, but I needed to be sleeping and they didn’t have it on the way home. I had every intention of watching them before this, it just hasn’t happened yet.

I know, I know I actually haven’t watched it. Sean was about ready to revoke my Geek card at the meet-up, had I actually had it with me :stuck_out_tongue:

And I’ll finally get to listen to the Very Jerry Bonus cast - I avoided it since I knew nothing of the movies. But I really enjoyed the cast with him talking about BSG - it made me think a lot.
