I loved the clip of the Elcor Hamlet. The Elcor are great. I also enjoyed the trailer about the first Hanar Spectre movie. There’s a lot more humour in this game.
Oh, the humor is awesome. I’ve got a female Shepard in a romance with Garrus (I know, right?) and they’re talking the logistics of interspecies …relations.
Anyway, they get to the point where they agree to wait until the eve of the final battle and Garrus says something to the effect of “You know me Shepard, I like to wait until I squeeze off my last shot before I drop my heat sink…” and it was only then that he realizes what he said.
I have to say, I’m still kind of disappointed about the overall plot. Maybe I’m expecting too much from a game patterned after sci-fi action movies, but I was expecting more of a twist than “the Protheans are the Collectors” - Cerebus stabbing you in the back, or something.
Also, for a game patterned after “Empire Strikes Back” I don’t feel like I had that “Darth Vader duel” moment. I fought a giant space skeleton, and then IMMINENT MASSIVE THREAT, then credits. Okay, true, there’s the reveal that there’s something special about humans/organics with genetic defects, but… I don’t know.
Not to say I didn’t enjoy the plot. It was an improvement over 1 by a long shot.
Hes got a gun in every tentacle and a love in every port.
Zaeeeeeeed, nooooo
What did I do wrong?
Why Zaeed, why?
I got him killed somehow.
I knew I should have let Legion be the muscle…
Stupid stupid
Wait, people can die in the end? Man, I got really lucky then.
Also, on that note, Legion is awesome.
Yeah, depending on their loyalty, how many ship upgrades you got, and who you pick to do what task in the final mission, your choices can lead to their deaths.
Okay…am I the only one noticing the huge Firefly references? Blue Sun? Anyone?
There was another line that was a huge Firefly reference. Something like, “Now its our turn to be the bad guys”
I have to disagree about Shepard being monogamous, because the moment my Shepard got Liara to open up and tell me what’s really going on with her (which is very easy to miss) she fell for Liara even more. So all my Shepard’s that romanced Liara will be faithful and wait for the payoff in ME3 because if any of the romance options from ME1 deserve faithfulness it’s Liara. I was totally blown away by how much she sacrificed and in my opinion makes the rest of your squad mates from ME1, including Tali and Garrus, look bad in comparison.
If you want to hear some funny stuff, talk to Joker after each mission and then just stand there behind him once the conversation is done. Joker will start saying random stuff. Funniest I’ve heard so far (maybe not the exact wording but close enough): “You know I hate that they call this a cockpit. Alliance ships have bridges, Asari ships have cockpits. Oh wait, no they don’t.”
Liara is probably my favorite character in ME1, but I gotta say that Tali is my favorite all around.
Where ME1 can almost be argued as much Liaras story, what with her mother and all, ME2 is very much about Tali as well. She cares a lot about Shepard, which when explored with either a romance or being a jerk, makes me feel a lot for her character.
This game is a like a big reference on most of the sci-fi stuff I saw.
If I’m not mistaken there is the Cluster:Nubian Expanse wtich is clearly a reference to Star Wars.
And I gotta say I love when they do that!!!
Oh, not bad! Not bad, huh? A Nubian, huh?
What’s a Nubian? [/banky]
I like Tali and I agree that she had the most touching story out of the rest of the squadmates but Liara is still and always will be my favorite over all. Nothing any of the squad members from ME2 did could over shadow what Liara did for Shepard in my book and I can’t wait to see just exactly how she did it when the Redemption comic finishes.
I have a feeling that because Bioware gave in to fans on Garrus and Tali that they will have a much smaller role in ME3 since it’s possible for them to die in ME2. I would have preferred to have them have a smaller role like Liara and Ash/Kaidan did in ME2 so they would be safe for ME3 than risk killing them off because I prefer the original to the new one, though I’d love to have Jack in Kaidan’s position because I think Jack is pretty awesome as well.
Yes, I think you’re right. Many players are predicting that should you abstain from any ME2 romance to stay true to a ME1 romance, your celibacy will be duly rewarded in ME3.
I just finished playing my first ME1 import. Shepard encounters at least a dozen people from the past either by NormandyMail or in person. None of this is in the game when playing a new ME2 character.
Many of these contacts seem trivial, but evidently one of the most crucial ME1 decisions guaranteed to have consequences in ME3 is if Shepard granted the Rachni queen her freedom or not. If you freed her, the queen will covertly send Shepard her gratitude, a revelation about the past and a big promise for ME3 via an Asari messenger. (In cryptic Rachni verse)
I’m positive there will be consequences if you cheat on your ME1 LI, but that’s not why my Shepard’s are staying loyal to Liara. I’d feel like a total douche if I picked one of the new LI’s over her.
I love the random encounters with people from ME1. Although I was a bit surprised when I ran to Shiala (I let her live in ME1) and she hit on my Shepard. I wanted to be all dude are you dumb? You’re hitting on me when the daughter of your former teacher, who happens to be my Shep’s lover, is only a few districts away? Not a brilliant move now that she’s threatening people with Asari Commandos and the like.
I loved running into the random Asari who had a message for me from the Rachni. I love the little plot twist you discover there too. I think renegade Shep’s might have a hard time beating the Reapers in ME3 since they will likely have no support other than their squad and Cerberus.
I finished up yesterday and have to say that what Bioware has done is amazing. I am so emotionally attached to this game. In the end I was so worried that I would frak things up I was worried I couldn’t play. I made it out along with all my team but the crew wasn’t so lucky.
I was crying tears of joy when I saw them all and I broke down many other times during the game. These people have become like family and Shepard is like a cross between myself and a child. I mean she is based on my personality but it feels like I have raised her.
It is surprising how different the game can be for each person which is also the best part. I can wait to hear the crew talk about this.
Has anyone been able to get to the collector base with everyone loyal and without your crew getting captured?
Yes, I had all Loyal, you just have to complete the loyalty mission for each person. I think the capture of the crew is just part of the story, no way around it.
