Do you have word-wrap on? If so, turn it off, it inserts extra carriage returns to the copy/pasted text that will create ‘clusters’.

That was it, I don’t know how that ever got turned on but I clicked it off and then pasted into a post and more compression. Thanx!

Happy to be of assistance!

That’s what I was trying to get at, but good job Thunderscreech for explaining it better/more specifically.

It is doing it again, even when I double check to be sure the ‘word wrap’ is off. I am not sure why it stopped frakking my posts up on that one test, and then started up again when I posted multiple texts this evening.

It seems to be effected by the size of what I paste. With a smaller amount of text I get no compression, but with a larger amount of text I get the trash compactor treatment to my poor little words. What did they ever do to offend thee oh Gods of the Forum?

Crom has forsaken me…

I thought that was a good thing.

PS: I have been liking the new look of GWC thumbs-up

So I gather from the long silence that either I am the only person who suffers from this, or that no one has any idea why this is happening.

Could just be that Juan has not had the extra time to look into this yet. He’s prolly got quite a big To-Do list right now with all the new 'casts and stuff.

I’ll look on the vBulletin forum and see if I find someone reporting this problem there.

Just to confirm, you’re pasting into Notepad, then copying from there into the forum?

BAMM! Soon as I reply The Juan does too! LOL!

I came back to edit my post to ask that Omra double checks to make sure WYSIWYG is still his default editor. If not could be a bug in version 4 setting it back to load default.

ETA: Also what browser are you using Omra?

Yes I am doing the standard copy/paste that I have done for years without incident until now. And I switched to the WUSIWYG editor setting on the forum at the suggestion of the forumites to take care of the earlier problem with editing text. I am using IE as the browser since it plays nicer with websites than Firefox does.

record scratch

It is true. When I used Firefox back when they did that Record attempting download stat, it went wonky on most of the sites I visited pissed me off royally. I uninstalled it and have never gone back. IE has never done that to me, probably because most sites design themselves to work for the most commonly used browsers. And back then Firefox was barely even used, now that may not be the case… But what the hell I have broadband and I doubt using any other browser would speed things up or benefit me in any way. It works, why frak with it…

Incoming Juan rant in 3… 2…

As I said Firefox is probably a far different animal than when I used it years and years ago, but all I have to go on is personal experience. And my experience was a bad one. And every week I hear one of the hosts of a podcast I listen to cursing at his computer because Safari refuses to work properly at one of the sites they are visiting. So I see no reason to change at this point, my browser has given me no reason to dump it in favor of something I have no experience with or trusted recommendation to follow. Besides I can visit JapanSugoi and your browser wont let you… (just teasing)

I’m still looking for a post on Vb’s forum but haven’t found anything similar yet. I’ll keep looking and searching…someone else has to have had this problem.

I asked about the browser you use because Safari, Opera and the other webkit browsers don’t support WYSIWYG. IE and FF do. So we can rule out your browser.

There are still a lot of websites out there that will only work with Internet Exploder (my naming of this browser shows the luck I’ve always had with it…it blows up on me). I had to use it to file my unemployment certifications and to look up my benefits and pay statements. For everything else…I use FireFox.

websites that only works with IE mean that site has web developers that are fairly incompetent. There’s no way a good web developer can’t make a site work for at least the big 4 browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). I probably don’t want to use IE only sites even for banking, I mean if they have incompetent web developers how safe can my data be with them. Besides, even IE is abandoning their crappy made up non-standard stuff anyway.
