Life is teh suck today because (a.ka. the official B_tch & Moan thread)

LOL! Yeah well, ask anyone familiar with the West Side of Cleveland. Linndale cops have nothing better to do than sit and wait for traffic violations…
And like I said- I frakked up.

I’m getting them reregistered in the morning after work. My court date is 2/4. I’ll call Linndale tomorrow and see what the cost is. Last time I went to court (speeding ticket like 5 yrs ago) I ended up paying almost double what the ticket would have cost me because I had to pay court costs, too. It’s a Mayor’s court in Linndale, so it might not be the same as Cleveland. Who knows. Meh.

Life is teh suck today b/c the hub just left for another 2 weeks and the rugrats are already driving me crazy. Gotta put the house on the market this week, so I will be cleaning out the garage tomorrow while listening to the 'cast. I hate doing this craaaaap (7th move in 9 years), but it really sucks to do it alone. [/whine]

The state and I had a miscommunication one year and I had the same situation. Do not feel like an idiot things happen.

I have to go back to work tomorrow. :frowning:

Hey - you’re still employed!

In my lovely little town we got a foot of snow Friday night and our entire road department disapeared off the face of the eatrh. I was woke up at 6am because my mom couldnt get out of her driveway to go to work. So I had to drive her over uplowed roads to work. The trip normally takes 15 minutes but it took us an hour and a half. I spent 3 hours shoveling out my driveway, and the very second i finished the plow truck rematerialized. It appeared by magic in the middle of the road and plowed in the end of my driveway. So then I got to spend another hour reshoveling my drive. Then I tried to take a nap before work and while I was sleeping my back locked up. So here I sit at work, enjoying the occasional back spasm.

Ouch. That makes me feel much better about my relatively mild snow-shovelling experience. Back spams are no joke. Hang in there.

And welcome aboard. Always good to see Ohio represent.

ps. “Head Lance” is a great name.

Tell me again why we live in NE Ohio? I know its not for our lovely winter weather, although I would miss it a little if I was somewhere else…

Oh, I think you could live somewhere warm and not miss the snow. It would be kinda like nieces and nephews - you could always go visit it but then bail when things start to get bad.

Road department! Hahahaha! You mean the two old guys sharing one shovel? :stuck_out_tongue: I am sorry to hear about your back, though. Hope you feel better!

They finally plowed our lot at work this morning. After several of us had gotten stuck. Apparently, the old plow guy got ticked because a landscaping company moved into the building behind ours and took over the mowing. I guess he figured if we weren’t going to sign a new landscaping contract with him, he wasn’t going to plow for us either. He plowed the lot next to ours, and in front of the buildings behind us (ironically, for said landscaping company) but didn’t touch ours. So the Service Dept manager went to the business two buildings down, asked who they use, and called their guy. He was there before I left this morning.

One of the nice things about apartment living: someone else shovels the snow. One of the not-so-nice things: when you do have to dig out your car, you don’t own a shovel…

I don’t know about you, but I was born here. Well, 85 miles southeast from here anyway. But, I think I could live without snow- for a little while anyway.

Which is why Deathbytray’s assertions that the Pacific Northwest is the place to be are making more and more sense… If only it weren’t so far away!

Welcome to the Fleet, RoStAlNiKoV. I used to feel like the streets of Philly were filled with people in GWC shirts, but Ohio’s population of GWC listeners is on the rise!

Why we live here? 'Cuz it’s cheap? And traffic is generally managable? And ample parking?

Some people say they don’t miss the cold, but I spent a year in Maryland before we moved here, and I definitely need the seasons.

One of my favorite T-shirts. Beneath a skull & bones, it reads: “Akron: Where the Weak Are Killed And Eaten.”

Hooray for optimism! You know, 2007 was a crappy year for me, overall, and 2008 was an improvement right up until the very end, so I am setting some stock in the hope that 2009 continues the trend.

That’s what I do!! All you snowbound folks have my deepest sympathies. I’ve lived in Iowa, PA and VA. Snow shoveling is no joke.:frowning: Falling down on ice while trying to dig you car out just so you can get to work when it should have been closed anyway really sucks! [/flashback]

I got word this morning that I’m losing my job. I manage a small bookstore in a small town and it is closing. I will be staying on until the bitter end as I’m in charge of the closing but by the end of February I’ll be footloose and fancy free, if a bit poor.

My uni decided to change the schedule next week (for the inauguration) TODAY. One of the sections I teach gets cancelled, and the other doesn’t. And it screws up my syllabus. And when does the administration tell us? Today.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Ouch. Times are tough for retail. I used to work in a chain store, and know people who are there. They’re just hanging by a thread. Keep yr head up.

So sorry to hear that, Madam.

Ouch. Small bookstores have been getting hammered for a long time. Sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear about your job situation. I’d like to take this moment to formally propose that we GWC unemployed band together and either form a sci-fi oriented utopian commune OR a roving band of sci-fi costumed bandits.

We could start a flotilla of lashed-together ships and barges, and just ride the tide around the pacific…
