Life is teh suck today because (a.ka. the official B_tch & Moan thread)

it’s stories like these that help me cheerfully keep making student loan payments on that doctorate I never finished

Ethan, that sucks. :frowning:

TFG’s right that there seems to be a lot of defense hiring going on… spouse is looking, and almost everything in our area is somehow related to defense contracts.

I am definately going to investigate defense contractors and the department of homeland security. I like Northrop and Lockheed the best because of the “coolness” factor.

Thanks.

Northrop Grumman
Lockheed
Beoing
Raytheon
BAE Systems
DRS Technologies
General Dynamics

Look for those names—a lot of 'em still hiring even in the down economy, most of them have many locations around the U.S. and they all offer good benefits.

Good! Hope it works. I get the expensive stuff. Had a dog with cancer but she was worth every penny.

I lost one other grant I’d applied for today. I’m 0-2. I really hope I get the one Great Noise applied for for next year. It would almost make these two losses worth it (almost).

I haven’t been able to take a real shower for 7 days, my nieces seem to like screaming at 1am, and I haven’t done any baking for Christmas Day yet. Oui - tomorrow is going to be busy. But all is not lost - I found some “free time” to come check out the boards. I mean, really, what would I do with 7 or 8 hours of sleep a night?

I took a big swig of milk that was 4 days expired…not fun at all.

I’m thinking that there might be similar aromas involved with these two problems.

Did that once. Once. Taught me to always smell my food/drink first.

Well, a good left turn in the Subaru led to a resounding “kapow!” and a fantastically wobbly rear suspension…or so I thought. Thirty seconds on the lift, and the mechanics actually “ooh”-ed and “whoa”-ed at the rusted swiss cheese that was my frame. Suffice to say, the “Scooby Doo” as my son calls it is now a virtual scrap heap. We’ve got bupkis for downpayment towards another car, so I’m going to have to take chances with some beater for at least a few months, and hope for the best. Anyone in New England got a jalopy they want to part with?

I got my cell phone bill today and it was over $500 for the month. My sister, with whom I share an account, used over 700 minutes. Our plan only has 700 minutes to use. She doesn’t have the money and I’m screwed. I was going to rent a car for an important trip in two weeks (my poor old car makes a very strange whistling noise that I don’t trust). So that may not happen now. So very not happy.

Takes me back to the last time I had food poisoning. I made some chicken salad without looking at the expiration date on the jar of mayo. Led to a real fun weekend, let me tell you.

Filing that away for a future GWC trivia game, under “What do Jayne and Solai have in common?”

You know that phrase “You look like your dog died”?

Well…

Keara,

I am terribly sorry for your loss. I know from firsthand experience how tough a dog passing away can be. Take comfort in that you gave Bella a loving household to live in and she lived a long full life with you. I know it is hard now, but soon you will be filled with memories of good times with her and will find yourself smiling to yourself. She may be gone, but she will always be with you. Trust me on this. <hugs>

I’m so sorry for your loss, Keara.
Rest in Peace Bella.

:frowning: I’m so sorry, Keara. :frowning:

So sorry to hear that, Keara.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Keara.

Have fun in dog heaven, Bella!! Steaks and bacon-scented chew toys for everyone.
