Life is teh suck today because (a.ka. the official B_tch & Moan thread)

Cortisone shots are no fun. I had to get 3 over the course of healing my foot injury. They hurt like hell, make you overly emotional, and–for me at least–totally made me smell weird. Hope the shot helps, though!

Smell weird as in your sense of smell was effected or your scent was effected? :stuck_out_tongue:

I had shots of it in my knee a few years ago and it did not do good things to me, deep tissue bruising from knee to hip? Yep! That’s what I wanted, thanks doctors!

My scent changed. It was very unsettling! Though thankfully temporary.

Quite unsettling indeed… I had something similar happen on a course of antibiotics a bit ago and I didn’t feel right in my own skin until I was off the meds and smelled like myself again!

Mine changed via hormones, that was a really odd discovery, but I’m used to it now, and frankly it works better for me!

Sucks that my home town (London, UK) is embrolled with Riots - Even worse is that my family home is in the next town (Walthamstow) involved in the riots (I used to shop/hang out in Enfiled/Tottenham) and the surrounding areas. Let’s hope that it can all be sorted out in due time.

Yeah! It was totally disturbing. It was like I was wearing someone else’s clothes but it was my skin!

I’m sure it was weird! But since you were taking hormones as part of a whole-self transformation process, I am not too surprised that it works better for you. Glad to hear it.

Dude, I am so sorry. That really sucks. I have been too wrapped up in DC politics the last week to pay attention to what exactly is going on in London/surrounding areas, but from what I gather, I hope your family and friends are safe and that this passes like a bad fever. Will be thinking of you.

No worries, I’m miles away from the trouble, and parents are away on hols, sis is there but she’s smart and knows to stay safe. Plus she’s handy with a paintball gun

Grumble - I was planning to go to the Dr Who Exhibiton at the end of the month but I now find out that it’s closed. The irony is that I could have gone to it when it was open before… Doh!!!

I caught the toe of my shoe on the edge of the rug and face planted in the entryway of my office building. In front of 2 witnesses. So I had to report it to Personnel and fill out a stupid online form. Ack!

Sooo. you went Splat…er…son?

Oui. That’s just awful! But entirely hilarious.

I see a certain irony in that you wanted to go to an exhibition about time travel which is no longer open.

A time travel machine like…say…a big blue phone box might solve that particular dilemma.

Oh wait…the exhibition that was showing that has now closed…

I was supposed to be home from work for 2 weeks to recover from ankle surgery (which ironically went really well). In the second week I was unable to get out of bed and was admitted to hospital on the Thursday night with pneumonia and a kidney infection. I’m back out now but it means another week off of work. Luckily my boss is very understanding (and probably doesn’t want pneumonia to rip through the office).

got in the crappy elevator with 20 other people, crammed in like sardines. The elevator sign went to 2nd, and jolted, then the number went back to 1st It then staye at the same place for 30 seconds, before moving up to 3rd floor and jolted again and stuck for another 30 seconds… thank god i did not get stranded in there for all those people… however i wouldn’t mind getting stuck there with just 1 or 2 of those 20 people.

My husband sends me a text from work yesterday that he thinks he has been having heart palpitations. On and off for a month. Bear in mind that both of us are Nurses, and he works in a hospital. Does he get checked out there? No, of course not. He has an MD appointment today to figure out what is going on.

Hope he checks out O.K.!

I am unemployed again… I hated the job, but at least I had one. I hope this leads to better things, Gods knows I need the rest (have been basically working every single day for 5 weeks) but what a shock to the system. If I lived in Texas I would not be worried, they have low unemployment, but I am in Arizona where it is in the neighborhood of 20%. I guess I will be missing yet another meetup.

Omra, I’m so sorry to hear your news. That sucks. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help. I’ve read resumes for a few GWCers and helped polish them–I’ve had jobs where I select interview candidates so I’m pretty good at getting a resume into the shape that employers need in order to select yours out of the stack.

Omra I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you can rest a bit before you hit the job search again. We’re all rooting for you!
