It’s been unseasonably hot here, to the degree I’ve had to sleep in the bathtub because it’s the coolest place in the house, but it’s not “Poach an egg in the air” hot like it was in New York last week.

Weeks ago I jammed my left thumb on a door jam when I went to open the door. Wasn’t too bad to start with but about a week or so ago it started to hurt more and now I can’t bend the upper 2 joints. Went to the doctor today…it’s broke above the knuckle at the top of the thumb…and there’s bone spurs. Gotta see an orthopedic doc next. 
Wearing a thumb stabilizer now. Should be interesting to see what I can and can’t do at work with this thing on.

I just googled this, and apparently having only 2 joints in the thumb is common, but I’m not sure if the coint connecting to the hand is being counted or not. I definately have three though, and I’ve discovered I also have “hitchhikers thumb” in addition to joint hypermobility.
I never thought i’d learn so much about thumbs today.
Most people do. The third one (or first, depending) is the one under the ball of your thumb, near the wrist. (I had to think about that for a second.)
At lest you don’t have ‘Toe Thumb’ like a certain actress we know…
Wow that is so weird, I never knew there were three joints in my thumb. And I just found out that I have hypermobility in my ankles.

Not fot the thumb, that chick just skeeves me out.
It’s probably worth having a bone checkup, hypermobile joints have a nasty habit of wearing out and failing when you don’t want them to.
I have it in all my fingers, both wrists, elbows, shoulders, spine, hips, and knees and some days I sould like a fresh bowl of Rice Krispies when I get out of bed.
Someone told.me i would make a good car salesman. He meant it as a compliment, but I got to say that’s a bad thing. Right.

Also I got awsome hitchhiker’s thumb but I broke my right thumb so that one is less so now =/

Glad to hear you’re making some progress on healing. That sounds awful, Gryper. Hope you’re back to fighting form soon.
Got a Cortisone shot in the thumb on Tuesday and it’s now starting to work. I can bend the thumb a little bit now with less pain.
But…Sunday morning I had a bit of a tooth break off. And today my microwave died…this is a 20 year old monster though. At least now I can get a smaller one and can get some counter space back.
