Oh wow. That’s just about the suckiest job hunt story I’ve heard. I’ll be prayin this is quickly pushed out of your minds by some good news.
The Masters Of The Universe movie is no-where near as good as I remember it being…
crap, that last earth quake lasted a while…
Hope you didn’t have any damage!
had the greatest meeting today…
summary
thank you for all your hard work you have exceeded our budgets by (edited for confidentiality) a lot, you have out-shined all other branches. but its rough economy and you can all be replaced, so work harder or else. well they implied it anyhow.
what a way to encourage your employee’s i mean seriously we killed our budgets… why do i keep hearing office space quotes in my head.
Doesn’t that make you feel appreciated.
over the last few days my zune has been acting up, so today i decided to fix it…(reformat, resync all ish)… well its now offically a $250ish paperweight… i can only sync 4gb outa 120gb…GREAT right b4 travel… i know i know its not a huge thing, but its def. a pain in the *#$@%!
I know your pain
I’m getting the distinct impression that I will not be getting either of the jobs I interviewed for earlier this month. They’re both giving me the run-around on “we hope to be finished in (x amount of time)” etc., which doesn’t bode well for my chances…even though I KICKED ASS at those interviews AND had close friends in one of those search committees (who I don’t think will remain as close after this, at least not for a while).
And the Mrs. still hasn’t found a job. Could 2010 not be turning out to be the good year I’d predicted it to be?
When I was in san diego for comic con I somehow lost my entire ipod library but it was STILL on the pod itself. Sucked hard
88 people just got layed off from my company. Luckily I was not one of them but a lot of the people that did were friends of mine. It’s a sad day.
Yeah—went through that earlier this year…it’s rough watching your friends go.
I’ve been in the other side of that. I heard from a few of the lucky that it really killed the spirit of the place. I hope your friends find work quick.
Oh that stinks. I really hope you get a break soon.
My parents have just retired and relocated to the Houston area. (That’s a good thing!) The weird part is that I have suddenly come to the realization that they are getting older, and one day they will not be around. I have not lived near my parents since I was in College, and I guess I have not noticed how much they have aged. It really hit me when my Dad made a joke the other day that he had just moved into his “last house”. We all laughed, because he said the next time he moved it would be to the Nursing Home or the Cemetery. It was funny at the time, but when I thought about it later, it really bummed me out.
My turn to vent, with the disclaimer that I’m all hormonal and stressed and probably blowing things out of proportion as I tend to do, but anyway…
My super-supportive supervisor is kind enough to send me an e-mail every month telling me down to the dollar how much less I’ve made than my predecessor did in the same month last year. Today, I get a message that Celebrations revenue was $9,000 at this point last year but it’s only $6,000 this year. Is there a problem he needs to know about?
Well, let’s see, the economy sucks, the common people who don’t make six-figure incomes like he does have to cut expenses left and right, our announcements are more expensive than any other paper in this area. And oh yeah, it snowed almost every deadline Friday since December. I worded this as politely as I could and answered him. He replied, “The weather might have been a factor. Thanks.”
Jackass. Has he had any complaints about the way I do my job? Have there been any major errors on the Celebrations page lately? Then stop looking at your gorram spreadsheets and leave me a-fucking-lone!!
Oy, I hear your frustration and count my lucky stars my job performance isn’t dependent on external factors I have zero control over like weather and the economy. But it sounds like you’re doing the right thing by keeping the conversation with your boss focused on the question “Is there anything I can be doing differently in order to sell more widgets/make a better product/do a better job in general?” Because if the answer to that is no, then he’s probably just looking for someone to vent at and you’re probably an easy target.
Not so much a sucky post but more of a strange one: I’ve been in Syracuse all week. As some of you know, we used to live an hour from here and Elena, our littlest cylon, spent the first 9 weeks of her life at the NICU in Crouse hospital in Syracuse. On the first night here I was having what my wife describes as flashbacks, just wanting to go up to the hospital, wash my hands and go sit by the little one’s respirator (I’ve forgotten what those units are called  ) and a feeling of general worn outedness that resembled the feeling of those first days in late September/early October, 2007.
Very strange.
I can’t make it to the meet up at all now stupid work and expensive air fares
So I went to MegaCon yesterday, but Levar Burton wasn’t there until today. I was planning on going today too to see some panels and get my picture taken with him, Brent Spiner, and John De Lancie, but I woke up this morning with a temperature of 100.3. He’ll be there tomorrow too, but there aren’t enough panels that interest me to justify the cost (in addition to the cost of the pic with them), even if I do feel better then.
