It is so obvious? It’s staring us in the face? We just need to go back and rewatch the episodes and it will make sense?
Am I the only one thinking “huh” right now?

Clear as mud, yep
I had the BSG last supper picture as my background on my desktop and I noticed that Tigh seemed to be turned a bit oddly. It’s as if he were looking directly to his left, to the empty space at the table where a wine chalice sits. That led me to think of who would be drinking with Tigh. I guessed it was Ellen, but dismissed my theory. She’s dead.
I guess this makes me wrong by thinking I was wrong.
You are definitely not alone.
At the end of 4.5, I would like for someone from BSG to explain the Last Supper photo and what clues were contained in it. Didn’t David Weddle say that we just had to “get out [our] magnifying glasses” and we’d know everything about season 4.0 and 4.5? I would be happy to look closely at the photo even after the series finale.
The only way I see the final cylon as being “obvious” is the other “couples” sitting at the table-Helo/Sharon and Anders/Starbuck. The flaws with this are that Chief is alone (but then, there’s no space around him) and the space Ellen is apparently supposed to be in (to be with Tigh) could just as easily have Dee in it (to be with Apollo)
I hope that made sense.
From all accounts, it was the photographer who came up with concept, and when they called RDM to see get his approval he just said: “Sure, cool!” I think they shoehorned the clues in afterwards. The magnifying glass quip sounds like a bit of teasing to me.

Not that I don’t LOVE the writers of the show who have graciously given of their time to speak live with us on the podcast!

BTW, awesome new avatar Gwensdad!
I was inspired by the inauguation: http://obamiconme.pastemagazine.com/
I tried doing a “craaaap” but didn’t have time to find a really good Tigh picture for it.
In regards to the Ellen being the final cylon and how the clues in the picture point to that, the only things I can think of are that Tigh is looking at the empty space and the cup at the empty place. The cup to me seems significant, because there are glasses of water elsewhere on the table, but at the empty place it’s a goblet. The cup is a symbol of the feminine. Also, Tigh poisoned Ellen with a cup.
Other things I found significant in the photo looking back at it now:
I used to think Natalie was pointing at Head Six, but now I think she’s pointing at Athena, who appears to be cowering.
Roslin is playing with fire.
The only people in the photo who aren’t “paired up” are those whose SO’s are dead. (Or in the case of Natalie, is dead herself.) And Adama and Roslin are separated by the entire length of the table.
Anyone else got thoughts about these?
Weddel was toying with us when he made the “it’s all there - just get out your magnifying glass” comment. (Thanks there Sherlock.)
Having said that, the basic mistake that I made was concluding that the picture is primarily about the identity of the FC. There’s some of that - Tigh looking at the empty spot being the main point. What’s going on with Roslin and the reducing amounts of fire and ultimalte disappearance is as simple as it seems.
I think tha major clue has been hidden in plain sight - Head 6 front and center. The final resolution will relate to her - what she is, what she does, what she has done, etc. As for the specifics - beats me.
I can’t take credit for this, and maybe it is looking to far into the detail, but the space is next to Tigh…and what is the object? A chalice. It recalls Ellen’s last moment, it almost makes me feel stupid for not realizing it before.
The FC spot is between Lee and Tigh. My money is still on Dee as the Final cylon. But I’m not a betting man.
I also heard somewhere that the missing spot is where Judas sits i the original painting - don’t know if that’s true but it would make even more sense as Ellen betrayed Saul and the rest of the colonials on New Caprica. It also makes me think that it’s possible she was in the role of betrayer in her preivous life as well. Something about what she said to Saul right before the bombs went off makes me think that she somehow knew what was happening and had planned their ability to excape ahead of time - for a specific purpose. If that’s the case - what if in that cycle Saul was Baltar and ellen was Caprica Six?
It’s Judas’ position in the Da Vinci.
Does anyone know if there is a way to purchase a poster-size version of the Final Supper BSG photo? Either version? (with or without Mary McDonnell)
I thot it was supposed to be a mirror image of the Da Vinci, which would make Tyrol Judas.
(Best Ed McMahon voice) - “I did not know that.” (And instead of holding his bag of money, he’s holding a knife?)
Maybe “they” meant to say that it is a reverse mirror image.
Nice. I also have the BSG Last Supper as my background and though I’ve been staring at it for months, Ellen as the 5th just blew me away.
BTW, Welcome to the forum RedEye.
I think you and RedEye are on the right track.
Wow, I never saw it.
That would be interesting.
Me too. It appears pretty obvious now.
