Just a pigeon?

Birds flying into the house are, according to a book of superstitions I consulted, a sign of death in the family; plus my grandma once told me the same thing. It wasn’t clear whether the bird comes before (warning) or after (visitation by the dead person’s spirit?) the death.

A pigeon is fodder for birds of prey. Lee, a viper jock, was ineffectually trying to eject the pigeon. His drunkeness was a metaphor for his fear of being able to defeat the cylons in combat which is parallel to impotence. A pigeon has (red) eyes on the sides of its head so when it turns it can see the hawk (viper) coming from any direction. As such, when it swivels its head it is as a cylon–whose “eye” moves in a “V” shape-like the wings of a bird (pigeon) which incidentally is the symbol of Baltar’s cult. So, in essence, Lee was prescient in his warding off of the pigeon as it was really Baltar and all his annoyances (as yet unrealized, that is, im-potent, without the potency of being, that is, yet to occur) he was fighting against vis. potency, of which Baltar has much, and which any sort of jock is pressured to have, therefore, and because all this has happened before and will happen again, Lee was remembering his future-past when warding the pigeon–that is Baltar’s manliness–because Baltar (that is, Baltart) laid Starbuck which creates jealous (Jealous God?) feelings in Lee. To sum up, Lee wants Kara and attacked a being with a “little pecker” IYKWIM since he cannot have her. BUT, sometimes, a pigeon is just a pigeon. But that is not the case. Radical feminism would have the bird (A goddess symbol) dominated by the male–a PIG-eon–which is why Lee attacks it . . . . . .

Yes, I thought the pigeon was supposed to be Zack too, which is pretty cliched in Asian cultures. There are dozens and dozens of movies and tv that uses a bird - pigeon, sparrow, etc - to symbolize a dead person’s reincarnation (buddhism and all). So, I guess that’s why I just assumed it was Zack. (btw, is it Zach or Zack? Not that it really matters.)

Maybe it’s a way to tell the audience that this Lee scene occurred right after Zack’s death without saying it in words. Hence all the drinking, and intolerance of birds, even if it happens to be your dead brother’s spirit.

Pigeon is also Greek for “Daniel” or “Dreileider.”*

  • This statement is totally fabricated BS.

pigeons to spoil the show in the Opera House. Larry’ll try to shoot 'em, but you know how that goes . . .

the pigeon is the One True God. As on BSG, Lee keeps swatting it away, causing destruction all around him.

I’m glad it was a pigeon and not a dove. Doves are just cliche symbolism.

Unless Lee manages to swat it dead, like a fly. That would be excellent.

(Wonder what that Jealous God has been up too lately.)

Swatting the pigeon dead would parallel Terminator:SCC & Cam’s pigeon-killing issues.

The Trans Sci Fi Classics Cycle.

Speaking of pigeons - who’s this guy Laura has a date with? Adar using an alias (that cad!)?

I can honestly say I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at this one, and then could not explain it to the people around me because they’ve only seen up to mid-Season 3. Daniel was quite the retcon, but he certainly provides hilarity. Well done!

It was that pigeon Audra said would teach its children not to Coup for Naught.

Since we are drawing comparisons from established culture reference to pigeons, I just want to add that for some Asian Cultrues… espcially Chinese, Pigeons stands for delicious…

pigeon is the devil himself, by your command pigeon, by your command. :frowning:

The pigeon, also drunk, in a moment of stupidity, imparted all it’s flying skills to Lee.

‘Dudley’ after Dudley Moore, since the pigeon is drunk.

“Greetings. Dudley Pigeon, Head Pigeon to the President of the Colonies, at your service!”

Perhaps Bert’s friend just got away from him that day.

That is frakkin’ funny.

Oh yah.

Nice.

Ok, that was funny. I just spit out my coffee all over my keyboard.

Dxf I read yer post just after I changed it. Heh. I’m seduced by pigeons.
