iPad and iPad Specific Apps

That’s right. However it should be noted I am fairly confident the group of people in front of me had no intention of keeping the iPads they were buying. Pretty sure they were a means to an end.

Mom meets iPad. Cute, yet interesting.

Should cross post that to Parents and evil technology.

I got an iPad 1 when the 2s came out and I love it.

I want an app to learn Spanish with. I can’t spend a lot of time at a sitting, but can give a whole bunch of five or ten minute sessions over a day.

Suggestions?

FBC, there’s a bunch of language lessons free on iTunes. Here’s a list of some.

So, I am viewing this with Tapatalk. How is that working for everyone else?

How Apple tracks your location without consent, and why it matters

Senator questions Apple over tracking

I think Apple should be transparent about this whole tracking issue, and tell us precisely why they want to collect this information. Truth be told, I’m not up to anything, so all Apple could say is “Geez, this guy spends a lot of time at home!”

"Apple denies iPhone tracking, but offers free fix

Apple yesterday acknowledged a bug in its location-collecting software and promised to release a free iOS update in the next few weeks that reduces the amount of Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower database information stored on the iPhones, stops backing up the cache and deletes it entirely when the iPhone’s location services is turned off.

“We don’t think the iPhone needs to store more than seven days of this data,” Apple said. "

The time has come for the Shooter household to embrace the iPad phenomenon. Since there seems to be quite a few iPad users in GWC I thought I’d throw the questions out there: What are some great iPad apps to install on my new iPad?

Thanks in advance for your input!

iThoughtsHD - This is what is called a mind-mapper. Basically it is a visual outliner, but it really helps pull your thoughts together. If you are working on a novel (or running a game) it is awesome.

Star Walk and Solar Walk - Really awesome astronomy programs. Star Walk will sense where you are pointing your iPad and show the sky there. Solar Walk lets you view the solar system from just about anywhere in the solar system.

Google Earth - Need I say more?

Atomic Web - A very nice web browser with Ad Blocker built in.

Wikipanion - It ain’t the aUrdapedia but it comes close.

Cat Piano - This made me famous at work.

Tapatalk - How I read the forum when not at home.

Nice. I have been looking for a good mind mapping tool. I trust you enough to drop $10 buck on your recommendation. this better not suck. I can ban you.

Trulia - A very interesting way of seeing what is on the Real Estate Market.

ABC player - A must have if you watch anything on ABC

Garage band - $$$ (pretty amazing)

Atari - Get the free version to play with it. Overall poor execution. Almost impossible to play the games.

Risk - $$$ - Worth the money if you like the game risk.

The Weather Channel’s update is pretty beautiful

For news readers I go back and forth between CNN and BBC. Sometimes NPR. LIFE and PBS also have

Bing for iPad is outrageous. As is the NASA app.

Games: Ragdoll 2 HD is a physics logic problem game. Pick up the lite version to see if you like it.

I bought my first Angry Birds iPad app with Rio. It really does make a difference. Haven’t bothered repurchasing the others, they are fine on the iPhone.

If you like Tower Defense games Fieldrunners is pretty awesome.

You’ll want to go and check the “iPad” thread.

I posted my list of iPad apps I have and like http://forum.galacticwatercooler.com/showpost.php?p=354497&postcount=107

And there’s some discussion there about using an iPad to remote access your PC.

I ended up going with LogMeIn and it totally does the job and works great.

EDIT: That above link is actually this thread, cuz the magical mystery moderators merged merged the two threads.

It good! Really!!!

I suggest FreeMind for the desktop. Guess the price…

and now the threads are merged.

This is simply one of the most ossim things i have seen on the ipad. A new app called planetary will categorise your music like a galaxy.

Select your letter, eg “r”

All artists beginning with r appear as a galaxy
Select an artist and you have a solar system.
Each planet is an album
Each song is a moon of the planet.

Its free…try it!

Gaf

Okay people. I need a new iPad game. Here is what I have:

Fieldrunners ***
Ragdoll 2
Risk ***
Pirates
Solitaire
Shape Shift HD ***
Trundle

anything I gave three *** indicates I considered it above and beyond awesome.

You won’t like any of my games - I play a lot of hidden object and mahjongg.

Many of my acquaintances have been trying to get me into ‘Words with friends’.
