Holy craaaaaaaaaaaaaap. Those kits are amazing! Doesn’t Galactica Watercooler qualify for press swag?
Wow, like I said before, I’ve never played the game, but that is some really cool swag. I envy those video game reviewer guys so much. Not only do they free stuff that we have to wait for, but they get it for free. And they get that nifty bag thing.
So yeah, not really a huge HALO fan my self (just does not suit the way that I like to play games). As to a 360 or Wii (cause lets face it PS3 is out of my price range), I still don’t know. I got a cube during the last battle of the console wars and I am still kinda kicking myself for it, though I do love RE4 and the Bond games that came out on it. On the one hand a 360 has title power: Rainbow Six Vegas, Gear of War, supposedly RE 5, and some others that I want to play. On the other hand the Wii is the dominant system at the moment in terms of sales so it could get a lot of those games too, and the 360 is having a lot of issues with reliability and is also more expensive. Then again all of this is my $.02
I’m not a huge gamer, but I like to have a game console as my DVD player (so I have the option to play a game or a movie.) With the current format war going on b/t Blu-ray and HDDVD, I’m not going to spend a bunch of money on one or the other system. (And even then, the winning format will have to be cracked. I like to do things with my movies :))
As a longtime XBox owner I am a little peeved that all the games I’ve bought in the last 5 years may or may not work in the 360. With that said, if it were not for the input of my ever so sensible wifey we’d have a 360 right now. She will absolutely not allow me to sell a kidney, can you believe it ? As it is, I will probably buy Halo 3 when I can, and wait until tax refund time to get the 360 itself. I can’t wait to “finish the fight” !!
Sadly, no. Maybe one day. But FWIW, even major media outlets are having some trouble landing these.
I swung by GameStop yesterday, and came within inches of re-starting credit card debt and buying a 360. I did study the differences, though, and decided I’m going to pick up the $349 mid-model. Here’s my thinking: I want a hard drive, because I think buying one without is foolish. The game companies are never going to respect the “don’t require the 'drive for play” concept. But I don’t see the advantage (for me anyway) of an HDMI connection/cable because I’m using component currently anyway, and the only advantage HDMI has over component is its ability to carry audio – and by the time they start creating audio I can’t get, HDMI may go the way of the dodo anyway.
Admittedly, I like the black case better, but I might just fix that, too by shelling out $30 or so for the Halo model. Mmmm, green.
I’m planning to fix that by just keeping my XBox when I buy the 360.
Hey folks,
Tiome zone differences aside, how cool would it be to start up some Halo 3 xbox live comps hosted within the gwc member base?

That’d be totally sweet! In fact, I think I’ve found funding for a 360, so everybody hold their noses right and hopefully I’ll have one Monday or Tuesday. I kept my Live account active, even though I haven’t been able to use it for some time.
Well my xbox live is still current and I’m using it for my my 360 now so I, for one, am good to go!..except for the minor annoyance of not having Halo 3 yet…
Is there anywhere in the forum we can list xbox live gamertags along with yahoo/hotmail/ICQ tags?
gaf
If not you could always start a thread.
I just added it. You can edit your profile and add your Gamertag. If you add it, it’ll display under your avatar along with the other information there.
This is gonna be the first game I’m going to buy at midnight on the day of release, I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully Ill get the legendary version. I bought the 360 a month ago, and am setting up the live today (it’s 2:30 in the morning here). Only problem is we get it a day after you (still that’s pretty good for blighty)
I checked at my local comic shop to no avail, so I found #1 online pretty reasonably. Hopefully I’ll see it sometime in the next week or two.
It looks like #2 is currently scheduled for an Oct. 17th release, so hopefully I can catch it at the local shop on release day.
wow your local comic shop doesn’t have one … i could go to the comic shop in winston-salem i go to and get another 3 or 4 copies of the first one if i wanted. You should of asked the people who run the shop to see if they couldn’t get you a copy on there next shipment. But good luck with the one from online hope it comes in well and I would suggest you get some slipcases for the 4 comics to keep them in good condition (must comic stores carry them)
Hey chuck, dont know how far you are from Plano but Lonestar comics on Independence has an issue. I was just their the other day.
I checked there Sat and they didn’t have one, but they had cake and drinks left over from a Green Lantern party. I guess someone snagged the last Uprising #1.
Wow, I’ve really been missing out, too. That was easily one of the coolest shops I’ve visited in quite some time. I did come away with a cool book: “I’m A Lebowski, Your’e A Lebowski.” A lot of the comics looked really cool, but I need to do some research into what I like before I dive in – and maybe pick up an anthology or two to catch up before I start picking up the current issues.
I’m going to head back next week to do some digging in the comic bins. I’m looking for the three Buckaroo Banzai comics from Moonstone.
I wanted badly to go to that green lantern party… but sadly I just had to grab me some of the civil war comics i missed. Plus my friend who knows kevin smith, told me to grab his clerks stuff… but yea its hard not to walk out of there with something.
Our local news station just showed live footage of the people waiting for the release of Halo 3 at a local Best Buy. There must have been 60-70 people in line. Apparently most of them have been there since last night.
I wonder how many copies they actually have…
