I'm Missing The Halo 3 Launch

And it sucks. I become a Halo fan after renting the game quite a long time ago, and I proudly stood in line with everyone else waiting for the midnight Halo 2 launch. I ran straight home and popped it in to play the first few bits.

I’m such a huge fan of the story, that it just kills me that I’m not going to see Halo 3 on the first day. See, I’m not really loaded right now, and I put off buying a 360 for a little bit too long.

Anyway, I’m hoping some of you acted sooner and can give me the lowdown – without spoilers, please. I plan on picking up a 360 (and the game) at first opportunity.

I’ve never played it—I still haven’t forgiven Bungie for jumping into the belly of the beast. However, new Halo means new Red vs. Blue!

Oh I am going to love this section of the forums, I am a Huge videogame nerd.

As far as halo goes I have played the games and might plan to pick up the novels based off the series which Bungie, the developers of Halo, considers to be canon. I won’t be getting Halo 3 the day it comes out but I will be getting it a week or so later (amazon’s super saver shipping … gotta love it). And chuck since you did put off buying your 360 you could buy the Halo 360 model which looks pretty neat.

Yeah was really hoping I could scam Chuck’s copy when 3 came out but since he doesn’t have one either I am going to be left in the lurch with him. I just can’t get there from here either, short funds and all.

Then again, I would club a baby seal to death to play the next Final Fantasy on opening day so I guess it’s all about motivation.

FWIW, I’ve plowed through all three of 'em. They were a bit of a tough read, but worth it to pick up the story nuances which you’ll get nowhere else – at least until everyone makes up with Mr. Jackson and we finally hit the theater for the movie version.

The best part: finding out where the Spartan(s) come from, and why they’re such badasses. As I’ve told Sean numerous times before, suspending my disbelief that one Spartan could affect the outcome of a planetary-scale battle was easy; I’d done it myself twice as the Master Chief. But after reading the books I know why.

There’s a great scene in the books where a whole mass of Marines is getting their asses handed to them by an overwhelming Covenant force, and they receive one Spartan as reinforcement. Guess who won?

Rock.

I’m already saving up, though I’ll probably end up springing for the cheapest model I can swing with a hard drive and wireless controllers. I will totally, however, spring for the uber-version where you get the Spartan helmet. That I must have.

Oh yeah, Spartan helmet…hi five!

oh gosh going for the kitty helmet? lol Personally I just went for the middle version the one with the medal case with some extras. Main reason was that I wanna get a few other games in the coming months so can’t put down 100 bucks just for one game.

Bah totally forgot to ask: Chuck have you bought or are going to buy the Halo Uprising comics?

i pitiy da foo
im getting halo on launch
then getting the 360, same day

I am interested in this conversation from a marketing perspective. I am currently getting my MBA and my group is focusing on the Wii. One of the major risks we see is Halo 3. How many people here are actually planning on purchasing the 360 to play Halo 3?

Anyone who’s played the others. Really.

No, and I’m going to remedy that soon. Are they good? How’s the art?

whenl not just for halo 3 but were getting it at that same time
we were gona get one once house renovations were done, and they had good timeing

I figured that Halo 3 was going to be kind of hard to get for the first few weeks so I picked up a copy of Bioshock. OMG this may be the best FPS I have ever played. Beautiful to look at and totally freaking me out at every turn. Well worth the investment while your waiting for Master Chief.

I can’t really share as I am a Wii man myself. In order to get a game console in my house I had to go with one slightly more family friendly. Everything being equal I probably would have purchased a Xbox 360…love the Wii tho, and Metroid 3 is excellent.

Art is well done. Its getting good reviews although in my opinion the first issue has the story starting kinda slow or slower than other comics I hear (this coming from someone who reads Ultimate Spider-Man, Star Wars Legacy, Fables). Still waiting on Issue 2 of the 4 part mini-series (which tells the story between halo 2 and halo 3).

Well knowing that Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk both did voice work for the game (Nathan did a ton), my interest has been raised. I’ve never played the first two for more than 5 minutes with a friend.

I’m not a hardcore gamer, in fact the only game I own right now is Battlefront II, yet I have a 360 (I found a deal on eBay too good to pass up) lol. I do play that one a ton, though.

To make things worse, I’m now drooling over all the unboxing – ok, unbagging – videos making their way around the 'net. I know most of you who’ve seen the videos are thinking, “The game’s cool, but who’d want all the crap in the bag?”

Answer: me.

If i wasn’t already scraping for a 360, I’d totally be scraping for the full version with the helmet. And I’d even spring for the stupid green 360 – even considering the somewhat tarnished reputation the game shares with its famous frat-boy multi-player following.

Maybe I can sell something…

I haven’t seen those. Are they anything like what the press has gotten? See here

There’s a video, too. Damn, now I have to wipe my mouth off again. Drool, drool.
