How do you get your Who?

I wanted to note that I noticed that Netflix has quite a few old Who episodes and all of Season 1 of the new Who in their “Watch Instantly” category.

I noticed that several of the episodes that Cymbeline mentions here are in the Watch Instantly category.

One thing that I’ve noticed, since switching to Firefox yesterday, is that watching Netflix movies/TV on your PC requires IE 6.0. It is apparently not compatible with Firefox. I’ll be emailing them about that, but for now, I can fire up IE if I really want to take advantage of this.

Edit: Yes, I was right. You do have to use IE at this time, but Netflix is planning to expand to other browsers for instant watching. So, I guess I’ll withhold my angry email for now.

Q: Can I watch instantly using Firefox or another web browser?

A: Our goal is for Netflix members to enjoy movies and TV shows on whatever screen or browser they want. We will be expanding the platforms supported by the Netflix Movie Viewer over the coming year.Currently the Netflix Movie Viewer requires Internet Explorer Version 6 or later running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista. You'll find more detail on current requirements on our [Instant Watching System Requirements](http://www.netflix.com/WatchNowMessage) page.

For those who defy being slaves to SciFi Channel :stuck_out_tongue: (they don’t even carry confidential)

DID YOU SEE LEFT TURN?!
What a cool episode. Catherine Tate’s acting blew me away… I never knew she had it in her. And the seeds laid so long ago are coming to fruition…

And that trailer… yeow! I’ll be itching all week for the next one.

I found my post-bsg fix

And for the Confidential watchers…
Billie Piper looks so much better without all that makeup caked on… she has a hard enough time being consistently beautiful.
You should see her new series.

I have. She’s the ultimate “two-face”

“So, attractive one day, not attractive the next.”
“Have you come across this?”
“Yes, I am familiar with this syndrome. She’s a two-face.”
“Like the Batman villain?”
“If that helps you.”
“So if I ask her out again, I don’t know who’s showing up – the good, the bad, or the ugly.”

Ah, the zeal of the converted! Welcome to the club.

Thats pretty much heaven then!

Just don’t ask me how I get my BSG…

Well, that counts me out. I use a MacBook and do not want to mess with dual-booting it into Windows because it would be the only thing I’d need all that infrastructure for. As our local cable broadband has been acting screwy, I wouldn’t enjoy a stream anyhow.

I’m one of those weird folks who would shell out for the discs when they are available.

“snichtgorrant” I love “snichtgorrant”

Secret Diary of a Callgirl? When’s it on, I wanna give it a try.

Here’s the schedule. Is Showtime available there? There are “other means”, if need be.

BTW, do you watch Doctor Who? All I can say is: German frakkin’ Daleks.

“EXTERMINEIREN! EXTERMINEIREN!”

Yup, I found it by other means. I’ve watched the first 2 episodes so far. Pretty good.

snort

No, that’s why I realized the question about the schedule was senseless. But I let you dig it up anyway because you ain’t got nothing better to do anyway, right?

There are “other means”, if need be.

Yes. That would be my method of choice in this case.

BTW, do you watch Doctor Who?

No, all I know about is that it’s a British show about some guy who travels through time, kinda like Time Trax or Quantum Leap?

I found it here.

I don’t know Time Trax, but Doctor Who is sorta like Quantum Leap in that each episode The Doctor ends up fixing some problem. But there are monsters and aliens (usually monster that are aliens) and history and far away galaxies. It’s well written and acted, though and even being a family show, has managed, at times, to scare the bejeebers out of me. I can’t imagine what an episode like “Blink” would do to an 8 yr old brain…

“The first thing you should know about me is that I’m a whore”

GR: “You had me at whore”

Thanks for the link.

Wow, yeah I’ve been hearing that Doctor Who is good and there’s a lot of buzz about it, but I think I wanna get into B5 first before I touch yet another big franchise.

No surprise there, m’dear.

Thanks for the link.

No prob. I’m watching episode 3 right now and it just hit me that the music is great. There’s a Regina Spektor song playing during a scene with Hannah/Belle showering and it’s just fantastic. The song that is…

It’s easy to find by “other means”, and since it’s a BBC franchise, there are only 13 episodes per season (plus a christmas special) , so there’s not too much to catch up on.

I’m at work, so there are certainly things I should be doing, but nothing better, no.

Basically, except he travels the universe as well as time. So it’s not just amatter of when he’ll pop up, but where. Highly recommended!

Interesting find. Thanks!

I don’t know Time Trax,

Basically a Timecop ripoff where a policeman from the future hunts down time-travelling criminals and sends them back when they belong. Sci Fi reruns the whole series on occasion.

Oh yeah. It’s always amazing to me that a show that’s often dismissed as a “kid’s show” is much more intelligently written than 90% of the crap on American TV.

That’s usually a pretty good selling point. So to speak. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not to in any way belittle B5, which I completely love, but Who is significantly easier to just jump right in and enjoy right from the start, especially the new Who series, which was designed specifically to be accessible to people who’d never seen the old show. Doctor Who’s mythology is very deep and broad, but you don’t need to have a full grasp of it to understand and enjoy the show, unlike B5, where you spend a lot of time trying to figure out what’s going on. Your call, of course.

You know, Keara hasn’t said anything to me, but I think you’re like a priest or something. I mean, you probably sit around your office the whole day, now and then writing down a sentence or two for the sermon on Sunday and in between you hop in on the discussions here on the forum. Plus: you’re a gutter guy!

I’ll eventually cave and watch Who, but I’m excited about B5 first.

Basically a Timecop ripoff

I don’t remember much about Time Trax, except the premise and that the dude had a hot holographic chick in like a tricorder or something, right? But apart from the show I think the show was pretty meh. But my memory could be failing me here.

That’s usually a pretty good selling point. So to speak. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I have to admit, it’s on my list of things to in this life, I wanna pay for… escort … at least once and know what it feels like, I mean, you read about it on the internet and they say it’s exciting and kinda tingles and you know, like some people wanna go sky diving once in their life…

Ok, I’m almost through the first episode and hey

is the twist that she’s falling in love with this one guy?

If so, then that’s just too cheap. I could have predicted that when I first heard the title of the show. I hope there’s more behind all this…

I think I saw Gaeta in the teaser for the second episode. But that could have been my mind playing tricks on me, I was watching the screen kind like from the corner of the eye…
