During frak parties, how do you post and watch the show/movie at the same time?

Do you use your iPhone to post and watch on a big screen HDTV?
Do you use a desktop to view on Hulu and post using a laptop?
Do you post and watch on the same device?

What is your preference when frakkin?

I’ll start. I’m usually sitting on my couch with my IBM laptop connected via wireless while watching the content on my 42" Plasma HDTV. If I’m watching content online (e.g. Hulu or CBS.com), I have an iMac and PC desktop in my basement. I’ll watch the content on the iMac and post using the PC. I’m always pantsless.

I have a MacBook Pro and a very very old TV. When its atoms fall apart we may get a new one. When the content is not on a DVD or being broadcasted it is my laptop for everything.

If I’m watching it on TV/DVD - TV’s on, I’m on the couch with my feet on the ottoman and laptop on lap.

For BSG, we watched it on my spouse’s laptop and I typed on my own.

If I’m watching on Hulu or another streaming site, I have half the laptop screen open on the forum, and half the screen on the show or movie.

I do wear pants. No revolution here.

Laptop on the side table next to the recliner, show on tv. I use Firefox and have 1 tab on GWC and another tab on Twitter and possibly a third tab that I use for looking things up if I need to!

So back in days of yore before I started posting on the GWC forum, I’d sometimes livetweet shows from my couch on my lappy while watching them on my big HDTV. Now, I just type forum posts when I otherwise would have tweeted and refresh the thread when there isn’t anything super alluring going on (and catch up reading during commercials). But my core setup is still the same – a MacBook Pro for typing and a 42" HDTV with an attached Mac Mini for DVD playing and streaming when need be.

the fraks that really take some skills are Treksdays because I don’t have TOS on dvd. I do the whole thing on the laptop with GWC on Safari, Netflix on Firefox and a tiny Twitteriffic window open at the bottom.

The reasons I don’t frak (at frak parties anyway, you pervs) are two-fold: 1. I have to get up way too frakking early in the morning to allow me to hang out and 2. I like to pay as close attention to a movie or show I’m into as possible.

That said, I may have to do some frak parties with some shows/movies that I know well this summer, when I’ll have some time and before I REALLY need to find a new job.

My preference is to frak in the family room with the show/movie playing on my 46" LCD Sony Bravia HD TV.
And I’ll sit on the sofa with the laptop (wireless networked) in front of me.
Now that situation is only doable when no once else is using the TV, which someone usually is any given evening when most Frak parties are. Also, if it’s a live show–like Heroes, that’s how I’ll usually frak.

More typiically, I do the frak party right from my computer wherever in the house I choose to be–my office, the dining room table, kitchen table —wherever.
I hide the WindowsXP tool bar completely, and I’ll have a browser window (Firefox) with the GWC Forum thread shrunk to take up just the right side of the screen.
If it’s Trek Tuesday, I’ll have the left half of my screen with an M.S. Internet Explorer browser window displaying the Trek episode directly streamed from Netflix.
If it’s a movie, I’ll use that left of the screen to display the movie/DVD player.

I very rarely participate in Frak parties for things I haven’t seen at least once before.
In the final season of BSG, I really wanted to watch the episodes with my full attention, so I didn’t join those frak parties very often (although I always enjoyed fraking it on the my second watch along with the west coast GWCers.)

Pants status: I go pantless mid April (now) until October. NH temperatures, sadly, require that I wear pants November through March.

If I’m streaming it, it goes in one half the screen, and the forum goes in the other, and twhirl goes down in the corner.

If I’m watching it live or on dvd, then it goes on the TV (27" regular old tv!) and the forum gets to be full sized with twirl floating around the edge.

Oh, if I only had at home the double monitor set-up I do at work!

DVDs and live shows get the tv while I frak on the laptop.

When I’m streaming, the forum is on the right half of the screen while the video is in the upper left corner.

But really DVD/Netflix (via 360)/Live Tv goes on my normal TV. With the Laptop on the Coffee Table thats pulled over to the couch so i can lounge on the couch Roman Style. Forum is open full with othe sites in other Tabs with Tweetdeck running in the background so i can Alt-Tab between screens.

If we are streaming Hulu Forum goes on Right half of screen and Hulu goes in the upper Left. Tweet Deck goes to single column in the lower right.

Ohhh. And if possible its always pantsless.

I watch on the TV and I use my desktop for the forum. I work in the TV room or I have a TV in my workroom.
