How did Pythia know there was a Temple of Aurora on Earth?

But, if so, her name MUST NOT be spoken. Thinking our loud on this one is encouraged. Because it’s either a totally insignificant plot moment OR at the core of what is going on. One thing is clear to me at least, Pythia should have not idea what occured with th 13th after it left Earth unless she is not human.

Hi;
There are a lot of good ideas being tossed aroudn in this thread…
Can we look at Pythia as Count Iblis from the Original series,
with the Final Five at the Opera House being a throwback to the angels in the Ship of Light from the orginal series?
Is the Opera House the equivalent to the Ship of lights?
Could Starbuck be Pythia?
Could Pythia be the Fifth Cylon?
Could Pythia be pulling the strings behind everything, orchestrating the whole plan becuase hell something is…
An interesting idea that the Cylons could the 13th tribe.
What does Cavil know about the need for Centurions to be kept under control and become so irate at Six for activating their sentience?
The opening scene of Revelations is definitely important regarding the Temple of Aorora must be important.

All will be revealed…

So God could violate His own universal laws?

Stepping away from the BSG universe…

The existence of a true ‘all-powerful divine being’ is a logical contradiction with a universe with ‘natural laws’. There can be one, or the other, but not both.

How awesome would it be (narratively) if they’ve been following this “prophecy” and believing in their version of history only to find that none of it is true. Of course, the whole Earth as a bombed out piece of crap throws a wrench in their self-constructed narrative… what if there never was a 13th tribe? What if the Cylons are the 13th tribe?

Oh my. I think I like you…

But haven’t a good number of things already turned out to be true? Or is it they seem to be true because the humans want them to be true?

I’ve noted this before re the Cylons as the 13th Tribe. At the very least there is a good chance that the five priests were and that the FF are somehow “related” to them.

But back to my original question. How did Pythia “know” that the 13th Tribe built a temple for Aurora on Earth - right down to drawing it in the scriptures?

What if PYTHIA is the 5th Cylon. They say the Final Cylons are better and this all has happened before… Maybe On Kobol they created the cylons and thats why they all had to flee there and the some cylons and humans (13 tribe) went and traveled to earth, stopping at the algea planet on the way. It ended badly and the final 5 cylons came back to the orginal 12 colonies and it was at the middle of the cylon war and they help the cylons become the skin jobs… Then reliaze they are making the same mistakes and make there identies secret and 4 of them get there minds cleared and make sure they will survive the cylon attack. But the 5th cylon stays helps guide the humans and 4 cylons make the right decesion and find Earth. As well the 5th cylon going in and changing PYTHIA books to put in the clues the way to earth… or even the final 5 could come back before they created the orginal toasters…

I don’t have a problem with Pythia. By the time of the exodus Pythia was ancient history. She was supposed to have lived around the time the 13th tribe left for Earth which was centuries before the other 12 left Kobol. Then apparently she visited the 13th tribe on Earth at least once and returned to tell about it. They obviously had some kind of interstellar travel at the time…in fact they had it all the way up to settling on the new colonies.
The technological setback doesn’t seem to happen till after colonization of their new worlds (remember the wooden ship thread, oh dear lord!). In the early period after colonization maybe they were sort of medieval, which explains the Pythia/Kobol/Earth history being written in enigmatic scripture.

Of course, we assume she went there, but maybe she saw what the 13th tribe built through mystical revelation or something. You don’t need FTL technology for that…just some good kamala or some other kind of, um, herb.

Is that correct? We learned about the exodus of the 12 Tribes in the Galleon 2,000 years later from some other source? What?

Battlestarwiki.org tries to piece it all together, but there are inconsistencies in the show regarding the timeline. But it seems it all points to put the 13th tribe leaving before the other tribes.

Just read it myself. You are correct - answers that lead to questions.

400 years or so after if occurred Pythia recounted the departure of the 13th Tribe for Earth. She was, therefore, an oracle on Kobol about 1600 years before the 12 Tribes left. Other than the noted recouning her writings (at least those known to us) foretelll the future.

So, I still want to know the source of her information about the temple built on Earth. I am not buying in to trips between Kobol and Earth, phone calls home, etc. Her drawing of the temple is very detailed.

Great stuff everyone!!. I have a question is Pythia a Lord of Kobol? If not how does she relate to the Lords of Kobol?

Not a Lord. Seems to be taken pretty much straight from the Ancient Greeks. Pythia was the head priestess of the Oracle at Delphi on Mt. Parnassus. She supposedly had a direct line to Apollo and would pass along what he was thinking to mere mortals. Thanks to Wikipedia.

Have you folks looked Pythia’s drawing of the temple of Aurora on Earth (see recent posts on the Analyze Pictures of Earth thread) from the start of Revelations? It even has “people” drawn in it. What, did the 13th Tribe leave architectural drawings behind when they departed Kobol?

That’s kind of interesting. You could say that Starbuck has a direct line to Apollo.

Who said comedy was dead?

Maybe she took the Maelstrom Express and mysteriously showed back up on Kobol kind of like Starbuck did?

The “Maelstrom Express” is a plot hole lurking. What is it? What role does it play? When we ask about the identity of the creature on-screen we’re calling Starbuck, this brings up Pythia and more all under one big issue. What is/was the Maelstrom?

That drawing of the Temple of Aurora (if that’s what you’re referring to) won’t be helpful as something to go on…especially since it’s the same drawing they used for the City of the Gods on Kobol. Guess they just decided to reuse that prop when they were filming.

Man, I wish me and my old '97 Camry could take a trip through the Maelstrom Express…I could be unconscious through the whole hot summer, and emerge in September with a much better paint job.

They do have a unique way of transferring information to each other…

IYKWIM

Just throwing this out there as my first post.

I would point out that Pythia is a PROPHET in a television series already riddled with characters that see stuff that is not really there. I don’t think it means she’s had to have been to earth. If multiple characters can see solid apparitions of varying kinds, I think a full fledged prophet character could see and describe a building.

Just as a related existing example, John gives precise measurements for the 3rd temple in the Apocalypse. He’s never been there, but was shown it as a vision, and if you believe that the Apocalypse of St. John is true prophecy (as an atheist i do not) then you believe that that temple will be built there someday. And artists have rendered it in religious books based on St. Johns description as such.

No cookies here - only Squishies.

And welcome.

I wonder if the drawing is not actually attributable to Pythia herself. It looked like they were reading a bound version of the Sacred Scrolls. There are many illustrated versions of the Bible out there where illustrations are included for the reader which are likely not be entirely accurate. That said, I do think they showed the picture for some reason, and that we will at some point see a Temple of Aurora…
