Don’t worry, I have experience managing large groups of people. Sometimes you need to be overly specific to ensure people don’t misunderstand.
Now that I have finally a bit more time to myself, I’ll definitely see you guys there tomorrow, and apparently the sun will be there too
A twofer!
Topgun, Raemani, I’m planning on being at Grand Central between 9 and 9:30 depending on trains. I’ll PM you when I have a better ETA.
In the mean time, I’m charging my iPod, my iPhone, putting new batteries in my camera, and setting out my GWC NYC Crue shirt. Now I just have to get up at “O’ my god it’s early” in the morning.
well I am getting on the 8:30 am train so I should be in the city at 9:43 - into Penn of course. If something happens I’ll text you guys, but I am planning to leave the house at 7:30 just to make sure I make the train.
I figure we can either meet somewhere in the middle or whoever gets in first can head to the other train station…I’ll text once I am on the train and we can figure it out from there.
I am so excited, looking forward to a day in the city with friends.
I don’t know if we should eat at Lenny’s, I’ve seen at least 7 sandwiches that I HAVE TO TRY. Too many choices. Maybe they’ll be open for the trip back home. Now I’ll have to see if there is one close to Grand Central.
hope it’s sunny hope it’s sunny hope it’s sunny
I’ve tried to juggle things, but it looks like I’ll be working too late in the morning to get to NYC tomorrow. I was hoping I’d be able to swing it at the last minute, but it’s not happening.
Have a good time all!
A few pics from today, more to come I am sure. Great time was had by all. Wonderful to meet some new faces and catch up with the usual suspects.
Next to where we ate in Central Park was a giant boulder. Very stupid people kept on trying to navigate it, including one father and two terrified little girls. We were not amused.
As if 'talos had to prove his geek cred he suddenly remembered he was wearing a certain shirt to the event. This was soon after we determine he has a shrine in his home dedicated to William Shatner now forever known as, “The Shatcave”
The crue. Stevie. Yorick. Rae. 'talos. AT. Topgun.
Woot! There’s something about that pic the makes me think “Yeah, this looks like a team I’d send on mission through a Stargate. Smart, geeky and bad-ass.”
OK, finally got all the pics uploaded…
Here is one of the group, sans misc dog (you’ll need the one from Steve’s phone for that)
Front row (from left to right): Solai Steviespin, Raemani, Topgun
Back row (from left to right): Yorrick, 'Talos, AT Great
Why must my smile look so weird in this pic?? It is such a great pic of the group
Central Park
American Museum of Natural History
And for this one - Stevespin may kill me…
Mmmm, lunch and geeky discussion
And I forget what this one is, but notice the flying carpet…
A REALLY old/big tree…
started growing in 550 AD and cut down in 1851 (I think…)
Big Tree with ATGreat for perspective
Big Tree with Topgun for perspective
And a really big mosquito (I forget what the scale was)
And we visited more exhibits, but my camera battery died But I know TG and ATGreat took some with their iPhones
Here are my pics.
(I hope this works.)

To the Shatcave!
I mean seriously. Look at my face. Seems I need a latrine.
Note to self: Superhero face. Not working.
Looks like you guys had a blast- wish I could have been there!
We got to the Museum around 2PM, had to leave at closing time of 5:45 pm and we didn’t see half of it. We at least got to see the planetarium show though which was REALLY cool. And the live map of earthquakes around the world. And the walk through rain forest. And the giant whale. And the gift shops, the very tempting gift shops…
If there isn’t anything else that comes up in the spring I would love to go back and see the stuff we missed. And if we can get a larger group of GWCers, maybe we can get a group rate.
It’s great, assuming that constipation is a superpower.
