I understand the correllation you’re trying to provide, but there’s a lot that is missing & combined in your synopses. Yes, Jesus caused a disruption in the temple with the money changers. But, this was not in response to the Roman’s, it was in response to these transactions being to take place in a sacred place by the leaders of the Temple, not Rome. The Roman’s ultimately did not care about the disturbance other than it stirred up a hostile population they were trying to control. This is problematic, but not a crime they executed people for.
According to the Gospel’s he was brought up on religious charges by the Pharisee’s and then turned over to the Roman’s. Now, there are missing pieces to the story that ultimately experts in history can only speculate on. More than likely, the leaders of Temple felt threatened by his outbursts & growing popularity. If it had stayed there Rome would not have interfered at all. For whatever reason, they felt he had challenged the Emperor directly by claiming to be the “King of the Jews”. A crime that was punishable in death by crucifixtion.
Should we assume that when she said blinking that she did not mean twinkling (no LOL please)? If we do not assume that (because the writers would not come right out and have her say twinling). then, of course, as even astronomical morons like me know, twinkling “stars” are planets.
Either that or she saw a commercial airliner on its final approach to O’Hare.
There would be outrage, it would be seen as a complete and total coup - Dad running the military, son running everything else. Even though Lee is distancing himself from the military, this would never fly with the general population.
I also give mad props to what you have said - however, I have to stick the prevailing “lack of passion” wisdom that is floating out there with regards to Chief and Cally vs Chief and Boomer.
I think regardless of what we saw or didn;t see with Chief and Boomer beyond the passion - the scene in the miniseries when they see each other in the corridor and realize they have survived the Cylon attack - that love was palpable. Tyrol didnt just have passion for Boomer, he loved Boomer.
Cally always came across as the best friend/little sister to Tyrol. As the first and second seasons went on, it became more and more evident that she did have feelings. But they weren’t really reciprocated. I can;t help but wonder, in fact, if she didn;t kill Boomer - not just cuz she was a Cylon, but becuase Boomer had in a way “betrayed” chief by being a Cylon. But I digress…He never really looked at Cally until after he had the rude wake up and beat the hell out of her. That was guilt, pure and simple. This was a girl who was his friend, his buddy, his right hand on the deck and he probably knew she had feelings for him - but what he did was so reprehensible to himself that he wanted to fix it, make it up to her, make it better. So he spent more time with her, wanted to protect her, care for her. That’s not passion. That’s guilt. And even in his outburst at Adama (besides the boiled cabbage comment - btw, how the hell can you smell like boiled cabbage while working on a flight deck???) he admitted, he settled. This was his life.
I have no doubt in my mind he cared for Cally. He may have even stuck with her. But there was no drive there. No passion in the way he had for Boomer. Like he loved her, but wasnt IN love with her.
I dunno - no one really freaked out when Lee was in command of Pegasus - which meant then entier military was under a father and son.
but I see your point. And in real life, yeah that probably wouldn’t fly, but I think Lee really distanced himself from Bill during the Baltar trial…so it may not be quite that bad.
I totally agree that Tyrol never felt more for Cally than friendship and married her out of guilt and possibly to move on from Boomer. But I don’t think that’s important as to why he expressed all those sentiments about Cally. She hit him over the head with a wrench and knocked him unconscious! Of course he hated her after that! Who wouldn’t? And he knows she tried to kill their baby while committing suicide. That’s the kind of behaviour we see all the time in the news. Of course it’s more often the guy killing the wife and children, but just because Cally is female, doesn’t make it less bad. And it’s not like she didn’t know what she was doing. Yes, she was on drugs, but she still knew right from wrong.
I wanted to mention the podcast comments about the image of the Final Five with D’Anna and her out-strecthed arm. Audra wondered if it was real or a Photoshopped image. It’s real. It was a production still that was released or leaked. If you download the monster-sized image of the shot and look at the EXIF information, it shows the image was taken with a Nikon D200 and then has some other metadata that states “FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY --NOT FOR RESALE-- DO NOT ARCHIVE”. There is some other information in there as well. Not that these things can’t be altered, but someone would have needed to go to a lot of effort to set all that up.
Back to the image itself, though. If you’ll notice there is no blinding white glow around the Final Five (which is how they are always seen on screen). This is another indication that the photograph was taken on set and not Photoshopped afterwards. Since the actors are not visible underneath that glow, the “Final Five” here are probably extras, stand-ins, or whoever the production staff could grab.
You have me at a disadvantage. I thought sun stars did not twinkle because they emit light and that planet starts do because they reflect light. If so, is that only when we observe them through our atmosphere? If so, I am going to track down my seventh grade science teacher, if it’s the last thing I do.
They also used “blinking eye” to indicate the pulsar in the Lion’s Head Nebula, so I assumed they were using it in the same way here again (though perhaps not the exact same astronomical phenomenon).
The reason I bring up the blinking is that I was not able to locate a system of three variable stars near Earth. Let me clarify that slightly, since almost all stars (including Sol) are variables. I wasn’t able to find a system with three visibly variable stars near Earth.
