GWC Podcast #97

they are actually waiting for people to tell that to their faces, so they can go “PUNKED!!!” in someone’s face. But so far no one has the guts so the joke’s on them.

Totally in agreement that Gaeta does not like women. Whether they explicitly ever make that a known aspect of his character, I get that feeling too. (I just loved the throw-away comment he made to the guys from the Pegasus: “Do you have any porn in there?” That was the first time I saw Gaeta as a 3-dimensional character rather than just a CIC-filler.)

Anna Nicole might have benefitted from that opinion, tho !

I think the kissing is because Tigh is ultimately looking for absolution from killing Ellen. Six doesn’t know how to give it so she gives him what she does know how to do. Not precisely appropriate, but it’s what she knows.

Wow. If porn makes one a three-dimensional character, then I’ll have to change my name to String Theory.

Man, somebody has got to find GR a girlfriend.

If porn makes a character gay…I know a lot of men who are seriously in the closet!

Depends on what kind of porn…

It never before occured to me…what if Ashton is trying to pull off his most elaborate PUNKED yet? Imagine it…on their 10 year wedding anniversary over a candle lit dinner he is holding her hand, smiles softly, winks at the camera and yells, “DEMI! YOU HAVE BEEN PUNKED!”

Wow - who peed in the chief’s Cheerios this morning?!?!

Great cast as always guys. And you’re right, Audra…the streaming epuisode on Skiffy was free and I should have been…(grinding teeth)…heppy with half of the episode.

Actually, I think Chief and Tigh seemed really more human than anything in this episode. Tigh feels incredible guilt over Ellen (and who can blame him??) and I agree with the idea that Chief is reacting to Cally’s finding out he is a cylon and really rejecting her. Two very human reactions. And (oppose to many on teh forum here) I don’t think Chief will unravel - I think he has done that by going off on Adama. Oncve he gets off on his own, he’ll start to pull it together. Thenm he’ll find out what Tory did and “Lock” her…

Speaking of Tory - I’m goign ot have ot take back my “Gangsta” comment abotu her. She’s not “gangsta” - she’s batsh*t crazy. She had a little of the gangsta lean in the previous episode when locking cally - now…she’s right there with Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction…complete with sitting in a room by herself and turning the light on and off. However - I really think that this is a manifestation of her finding out she is a Cylon. All four of them have kinda become unglued in some way, shape or form. Tory was just the first to have a real psychotic break once she killed Cally. Not giving her an excuse from the crazy - just trying to figure out the crazy.

Baltar…hate to admit it…I think he really does beleive the craaaaaap he is saying and really believes he can do good. And he might do good in spite of everything. And, charging into the church like that…that was…hate to admit it, almost…courageous. (Yuck, think I need a shower)

And i agree - Head Six ain’t just Head Six. Something lifted him up to get knocked down by the guard - cuz it wasn’t him…weird.

Yikes! No, I wasn’t trying to say the porn comment made me think he is gay. It just made him more of a real person to me, showing that he actually has needs and wants vs. just being the officer in the CIC following orders. The other episode that really made him real to me was the one where D’Anna was interviewing him; he said and did things in that episode that we never saw before. My thinking he is gay is just a feeling, not really based on anything specific that the character has ever done or said. So please don’t think I was associating the porn comment with sexual preference.

Sage advice.

I dunno judging by the preview & the brief glimpse we get of him in it, we have shaved head & knife chief! he does look a little unhinged!

As well as gun to temple Tyrol (he’s now a Specialist)…I think Galen’s got a bit of a downweird spiral to complete before (if) he comes back to reality. I wouldn’t even rule out a stint as a Balcubine.

He’s gon Colonel Kurtz. Completely off the reservation.

Nothing so much ruins romance as a woman’s sense of humor

-Oscar Wilde (who was totally gay and probably had lots of porn).

Hey all, just had a few thought about where Baltar is going while I was feeding chickens this morning. They clearly seem to be portraying as some type of messiah in the making if not already there. It seems like the difference between the old Baltar and the new is that instead of giving lip service to the one God, now he really believes it. That being said there are a lot of correlaries one can draw from our own monotheistic religion and the story of Jesus. Right before the Romans crucified Jesus, he went into the temple on the mount and caused a disturbance. I’m not a religious scholar so I don’t know the details, but he was pissed that there was animal sacrifice, money changing and other polytheistic activity going on in the temple and let the Romans know about it in a very loud and demonstrative way. It was not long after, that Jesus found himself on the cross for his “crimes”.

So didn’t Baltar do the same exact thing when he went into the “temple” service on galactica and basically accuse all those people of worshiping false gods? Also, “president” Roslyn is looking more and more like King Herod in that she is willing to do almost anything (including kidnapping, murder etc…) to see that her view of the world continues.

I guess I eventually see Baltar being killed off in some way by the state and ultimately becoming martyred. Anyway, just some thoughts I had while feeding chickens.

Dave

What? It wasn’t when he revealed his drunken tiger-tattoo-getting adventure??

Sean!

Absolutely beautiful theory about Chief’s outburst at Adama!

He will always be the ‘Chief’ to me. I will ignore any and all corrections on this matter.

It was his answer to Cally’s rejection of him upon finding out he’s a cylon.

Also, Rev. Sean, you killed me a number of times on this cast. Everyone is always so much fun, but, brother, you were on a roll.

Chuck, Audra, Rev. Sean.

Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

I am currently blowing my nose in a sad attempt to remove the coffee I snorted up it upon reading this. Way to go, Stringy.

While I’m posting on the podcast thread, SEAN, this is for you:
No more pretending that you’re “and the other guy” who never says anything smart! Your comments on the Chief’s breakdown helped me understand a part of the episode that I just wasn’t able to get so far on my own. You are so right about Tyrol feeling betrayed by her inability to accept him.

I have no comment on Cally’s cabbage problem, though.
