GWC Podcast #96

Because Cally was an innocent.

Oh yeah, and she never threatened Tory in the least bit. If Tory hadn’t intervened, Cally would have killed herself anyway in all likelihood. Still wondering what was so important about the baby. I mean, yeah, well, it’s a hybrid baby, but

a) Tory can’t be perfectly certain it’s really the Chief’s baby in the first place

b) why the frak does Tory care about a hybrid baby?

Sorry for the delay in my message here. But I lvoed the world wide reprorting from fellow gwcers. Great job guys! Keep them ocming, and tell Jamie and Mark Shepard some readnom person says hi lol

I have considered it. What is murder? Murder is the willfull taking of another’s life. Tori tells Cally that it is okay. She conforts her. She takes the baby, she hits Cally over the head, she walks over and lets Cally wake up. She looks right in her eyes, and banm! She shoots her, with no since of mouring, no hessitaiton. Shes not even angr. It was the same since I got from Adama when he told he Cheif he’d kill Cally in “Dirty Hands”. It was cold, calculated, the wern’t upset, the wern’ sorry (Now, I still question if Adama would have done it, but Tori did it…there you go)

Is it different from when Tigh mrudeered Ellen? No really,b ut at least Tigh was a little bit sorry

Oh yes, very different. Ellen collaborated with the enemy. That constituted high treason, a crime punishable by the death. (Death by tray or death by Tigh doesn’t really matter here :D)

Anyway, Ellen was - technically speaking - not innocent. Now, I’m not saying that she shouldn’t have been tried and convicted by a jury of her peers before being executed but Cally’s case is totally different. Cally didn’t DO anything. She was completely innocent.

I might be going on a limb here, but I’m willing to bet a quarter most murder victims are innocent to begin with…so again…why all the fuss? I loved her character just as much as the next BSG fan. Did people debate this much over Billy? I’d say they’re both equal in terms of the amount of pain felt over their deaths.

Agreed. But it would have been easier emotionally had we seen her naked before her untimely demise.

Did we see Billy naked before his untimely demise? If so, I missed that, thankfully … or am I just missing your whole point…

The point: see posts 33 to 36

I was especially hoping for:

AHH… LOL. That’s Awesome…

Wasn’t Cally safely locked behind the spacelock blast-safe doors, and Tory coulda just left her there until the space-cops showed up? But Tory chose to airlock her, right?

I’m sure we’ll get a better idea of her agenda soon enough. My guess is she feels he’s important as the next generation of Cylon or whatever. I wouldn’t be surprised if she tries to get her hands on Hera as well. Nicky and Hera are probably seen by the final 5 as the Adam and Eve of the Hylons.

Which begs the question, where’s Hera? Both her parents are off on the poo barge with Starbuck!

I think Tori saved the baby for the fact that she is not a complete mental case. She killed Cally because Cally saw that she was a cylon, and she was afraid of getting caught. It was a bit cowardly if you ask me

I think she’s gotta be there on the GPB Demetrius. After all, after what happened last time they were both out of her presence, Roslin stole her and gave her to some other lady. Helo and Athena just wouldn’t leave her on Galactica.

Lady D - you’ve got the perfect avitar for that comment

Don’t worry keebler, we may be a large and still growing group, but we love new members, opinions, voices and theories.

Most murder victims are innocent, so why all the fuss?
Um, because they didn’t deserve to die, because what was done to them was inhuman and evil, because we are supposed to be able to live our lives without worrying about someone taking our lives away from us.
Because life is the most precious thing in the universe, and it shouldn’t be taken away because Tory has a buzz for her new ‘feelings’…
Billy’s death was accidental…it was very very unfortunate, but it was not deliberate. He was caught in a hostage rescue mission. None of the Marines involved wanted to kill Billy. They were trying to save him and the others.
Tory showed up and murdered Cally. That was her goal, that’s what she did.
Dude, you don’t see the difference?

so, what’s the verdict? Did Tory murder because she was a cylon or because she was human?

If murdering Cali is something brought up by Tory’s Cylon nature, then would the Chief, Anders or Tigh behave like a Cylon when push comes to shove?

If Tory did this because she was human, and a bad one for that matter, maybe what she said about “We’re not evil, we’re not inhuman” is true after all?

Um, Billy was shot by one of the hostake takers when he tried to be the hero, not accidently by a marine…I still don’t see the difference, the hostage takers did what they did intending to murder innocents if they had to, and Tory apparently intended to murder Cally to preserve her Cylon secret.

I’m throwin’ in my vote that Tory Murdered Cally because it’s in her nature and not just because she’s a cylon.

Murder - the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder). -taken from Dictionary.com

Why is everyone assuming that CALLY is dead?

The final 4 started hearing music ever since they arrived at the Nebula.
Starbuck confessed something similar in the 1st epi of the 4th season (“Its fraking with my head!”, etc).
In the last episode, Cally said the same thing. The wooooozy stuff started happening to her ever since Galactica arrived at the nebula.

hmmmmmmm… interesting!
