GWC Podcast #83

Here is an article on NPR about taking G-rated dialog and making it worse by bleeping out certain words. Adding bleeps correctly can make Mr. Rogers, well, just wrong, or as they put it, “Horrible, but hard not to laugh.”

So, bleep away Evita, uh, Galatic[a] Water Cooler.

Yeah, I think Conan or Jimmy Kimmel (sp?) had a recurring bit titled “Inappropriate Censorship.” They would take some famous person giving some mundane talk and bleep various words. Always hysterical.

Ah, here we go.

You get it. You totally get it.

That is frakking brilliant.

There were also Baltar’s “interns” in the back of Colonial One.

I can’t remember quite when I heard something about how Kat looks. Luciana Carro is quite lovely:

I wish I could remember the context- sorry! Frak! maybe it was another 'cast? Adventures in Scifi Publishing? Rats! Sorry if I got it wrong, but I wish I was as hot as LC!

I just can’t think with all this hair!

sigh.:o

OMG! Floored. Hysterically floored.

Patrick Stewart just frakking rocks!

BTW, from IMDB:

On CHiPs - I was a HUGE CHiPs fan to the point that for awhile I could turn on any episode and would know what the outcome was.

Anyway - guess who else was at D*C - Frank Poncherello himself - Erik Estrada. And yes, I got an autograph.

Totally, totally, totally.

Dont forget everyone that no matter what the Humans win in the end as we are reminded by our glimpse into the future year of 3008’s Cylon War Memorial on earth. It’s a make out spot!

God I hope I look that good at 86 !!

Nice to hear him mentioned. He was such a super talent. So sad to know we’ll never read a new story from him again.

It might sounds silly, but I always felt bad that he never got to see the rise of the iPod. - he was such a huge Apple fan, he would have loved them so much.

my favorite DA quote:

“It has been said that Vogons are not above a little bribery and corruption in the same way that the sea is not above the clouds.”

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

I know this is a little bit wrong, but what if Tigh decided that he really misses his eye, depth perception and his hair and decides to off himself to get those things back?

Oh, that is too funny! What a gentleman, lol!

LOL frakkintalos!

Rofl!

Glad we could help, Phoenix. You all do the same for us here at the forum and when you call in.

Maybe that’s the key to boosting church membership after all - have really cool sci-fi names for all the reverends!

FBC: Great link, thanks!!

Regarding Evita, the part I was singing was actually Antonio Banderas’ (Che is his character). Madonna couldn’t be singing it since the song is being sung to “Ms. Duarte,” which is herself.

A bit late, but I had to add this bit of inappropriate censorship:

Omg LOL. Especially 1:25 - 1:30 minutes, I almost cried at that! I think I remember seeing this as a kid? Maybe it’s just my imagination.

Is that bar mitzvah music in the background? Maybe the Count’s playing gigs on the side for a little extra cash. Ah, ah, ah.

Pike that is frakkin’ hilarious! Better late than never.

You probably did. It’s an early bit, and they were big on repeats. I sort of remembered it from MY childhood, and, yeah, when he got to the “candles on the shelf” I remembered where the rhyme was going. Priceless.

Thing I’m realizing in retrospect: The Count has a serious case of OCD. I’m wondering if they had a special episode where he found that he didn’t really need to count his Paxil pills. Maybe guest-starring the guy from Monk?

No? Maybe I need to make that happen?

Pike, that was brilliant!
