GWC Podcast #76

My kids, who are always saying, “You’re on Galactica AGAIN?” Were thrilled to find out my call was played in Podcast 74 and they heard my call mentioned in Podcast 75. Chuck and Sean both mentioned in this week’s cast how being on the forum is a great pick-me-up and I think that’s true. Being on the podcast however- even for one brief shining moment- is like walking on air! How many things in our busy lives are a guaranteed good time?

My husband doesn’t qualify for a geek card, but the kids are getting close.

I know it wasn’t in this podcast, but I know one of you (Chuck, Audra or someone else - just kidding, Sean) threw it out in one of the last 'casts that Lee could be Leoben’s “Adama” cylon. I started thinking it would be funny if Fat Lee and regular Lee were actually separate models - which, stay with me here, harkens way, way, way back, to when y’all discussed why all the cylon models looked alike - even with distinct personalities, there wasn’t a single lazy cylon that sat around all day watching TV and eating chips. Or is there?

I just started a new job with a crappy commute so as of this afternoon, I am officially caught up on all my missed podcasts. WOOT! Keep up the two hour podcasts - I need the road entertainment.

I would imagine Dee would have noticed a difference. I suppose she would not suddenly wake up one day with a really fat hubby who would have been swapped during sleep. As we have seen no transporter tech in BSG I would imagine a break-in would have been required. Considering Dee’s mischevious, feisty nature I would imagine she would wake up to a break-in attempt to swap models.

I didn’t mean a midnight swap - just the fact that if he does turn out to be the Adama cylon, then maybe there are other models that get “out of shape”. Or, maybe Mama Adama is the Adama Cylon and Zak and Lee are also hybrids. Kara knew and let Zak die and she keeps trying to kill Lee, but they keep bringing him back to life. Or not.

What the frak does everyone have a problem with lee? Ok I started watching BSG reamigined series when I was 9. At that time we where still in season 1! I thought that lee was the coolest guy, So I am sticking with my first thoughts. Oh and then I guess i am the youngest person on GWC to have seen BSG when it came out. My other favorite People are, The chief, Anders, Starbuck, hotdog, and Helo.

I agree that Lee gets a bit of undeserved grief. He is actually one of the more complex characters of the show. Also, there are some deleted scenes from Black Market that shows what type of badass he can be when he puts his mind to it (and isn’t distracted by the Dee/Kara triangle). Be careful on this subject here though, Mactopia, at least 2/3rds of the GWC appear to have a crush on Anders

I like the character, but I just a problem with him when he is in whiny-Lee mode.

6 sex scenes at 9??? OMG blasphmy
i just think Lee is whiney

See See! I knew some people would follow me. Yah whinny Lee is sickening. But we had to deal with Luke as our main person all through Star Wars, and we all love star wars.

Well the first three anyways. Those abominations from a few years ago I refuse to acknowledge as Star Wars cannon.

Thank you! Now I know I’m not the only one wriggling like a wet spaniel at a mention on the GWC cast! <blushing w/permagrin>

My hubby was so proud, he made me play it at our Christmas party. I “forgot” it when we visited family, though. Even my thick geek skin can take only so many rolled eyes! lol!

It took about 3 years of drunken karaoke to conquer my stage fright. I went from 3 beers to 2, etc. Now I can call in stone sober, sitting in my school bus at the end of my morning tier. The beeping you may hear in the background- that’s a yard full of about 500 buses backing into parking spaces. Oh yeah, I’m a geek.

mucho monkey love to you all!

me! b!

Yay bkitty! I love hearing everyone’s stories about their calls on GWC. Keep calling - we love to hear from you and we listen to every call!

grampa goo
I was actually listening to your “Christmas Podcast”, #77, … and you mentioned giving geek cards for having done so.

I’ll pass on the card, geeky as I am, but I heard Audra mention very briefly in the previous podcast, #76, that someone spoke to her about recognizing Grampa Goo’s voice and how he knew it from somewhere else.

I posted this at the Christmas Podcast because I went past #76 to #77 and figured I’d write what I know. So you can erase it from post #77.

The actor’s name is “Campbell Lane”. He has a long, illustrious career listed at IMDB.

I know his voice from the PC games: “Homeworld”, “Homeworld: Cataclysm” and “Homeworld 2” (the latter has a Battlestar Galactica mod called Fleet Commander). He played the voice of an alien race called “The Bentusi”.

why this particular actor stands out
A friend suggested I start watching Battlestar Galactica. I balked recalling a pathetic show (don’t spear me!). But he appealed to a game I’d played and said: “It’s kinda like… The Matrix meets Homeworld.”

Intrigued I decided to check it out. I’ve followed it ever since. So I just about fell off my chair when I heard Lane’s voice as the Hybrid. I recognized it, I’m somewhat embarrassed to say, from the first syllable he spoke. His voice is very distinctive.

I am slowly making my way through the older podcasts and the discussion of Huey Lewis in Back to the Future reminded me of my favorite Huey Lewis reference in a movie – American Psycho. The book was vile, the movie sublime. And funny as hell. And highly quotable.

And any movie featuring Christian Bale nekkid is OK by me. Warning – not for the faint of heart or the youngsters. It is rated R and they mean it.
