GWC Podcast #72

Happy Thanksgiving everyone ! Have a great day with your family and friends, smile alot, have a glass of wine with dinner, and have that extra piece of your favorite pie. Best wishes to you all !!

Mmm, pie…

Thanks Glimfeather/Stroogie (May I call you “Stroogs”?) for the AWEsome panels of the GWC awards!! I’ll have to find a better pic of me to put out, now the cat’s out of the bag. (sigh)

You keep cats in bags? Nooo! Let them out! :stuck_out_tongue:

… I know I’m a little late on The Godfather stuff, but the best way to watch it is to watch part 1 of Godfather 2, with DeNiro, then watch The Godfather, and then part 2 of #2. They play it TV like this sometimes and it’s great.

I loved Cannnnnnn! and the Cylon Awards.

I now dub thee, Dr. Sean, Ph.D…

with doctorates in Cylon Interpersonal Relations, “Mad Genius” Psychology, and Advanced Spacecraft Engineering.

i really wish there was a fifth element dta

I just finished listening to the podcast, and I wanted to say how happy I was to hear the love for one of my favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes, Space Mutiny. MST3K has been my favorite all-time show for at least 10 years. If you ever need more suggestions for ones to watch, lemme know . . . I’ve seen almost all of them.

Ya, that was me that updated the wiki…

Not sure if I should bum this thread, but after episode #72 I had a “call-in” that I never placed (tried waiting till night-time or weekends, and was in the middle of a cross country drive/move). Anyhow:

=======================================================
Hi, this is HeadDoug from northern Colorado – does that count as being Western? It’s my first time calling. I started listening about 11 months ago, and I’m doing the re-watch thingy.

First off I must say. You guys are big-‘E’ evil. Thanks to you, I’ve spent the last 2 weeks re-watching all 72 episodes of Futurama consecutively, as well as the Oceans movies. Haven’t slept for the last 36 hours. You people compel me to stalk Lindsay Wagner, dig up old Angelina Jolie flicks, watch Voyager re-runs on Spike everyday for the past two months, and sneak in the word ‘penultimate’ as much as possible, for no good reason.

Most of your obscure references do not go unnoticed by me.

Craaaaap…. I used to pride myself in sci-fi and geek trivia, but you guys totally out do me. Well not by much, but enough to shatter my self-image. I’m glad I’m earning “GWC geek cards” from you guys for sitting though another podcast. But to prove my worthiness and street-cred, I am a fan of
Star Trek, Star Wars, Futurama, Scrubs, Oceans, Firefly… pretty much everything you guys are into. And I am a badass at Halo.

I’m also a huge fan of Stargate, Bionic Woman, Smallville, and Heroes too, things you don’t seem as interested in. Btw, SG-1 finally ended after 10 seasons, and so it’s just Atlantis now. It’s kind of gone down hill a bit lately, seeing as how they’ve learned everything about their galaxy and now imperializing Pegasus – basically every sci-fi plot-device has been played out at least twice. It’s like they’ve hit what I like to call the sci-fi Wall, which is when every major character has done all of the following at one point or another: time-traveled, alternate reality, alternate dimension, and possessed by an alien entity.

But I still highly-recommend watching Stargate, as it had been my favorite show for many years. A lot more BSG actors have been on it than you hinted last time. There’s Doral, the Chief, Helo, Sgt. Hadrian (aka Mrs. Gordon, aka the power-crazed Master-at-Arms), Sharon, Cavil, Lt. Gaeta, Barolay (a former-Buccaneer chick), and that Colonial One Captain that they never bothered naming, oh and farm doctor Simon.

I think I have a lot in common with you guys and would love to meet up with y’all like minded individuals, perhaps at one of them meet-ups one of these days. Although, I know not of this “Tron” or this “Buckaroo Banzai” you speak fondly of. Oh gelessh, now I’m dating myself.

You know…, I’m a guy and I’m starting to finding Audra’s sexist comments offensive. She is right about the fat suit though, causing RJS. The directors should have forced him to eat a bunch of lard and get fat for real – that would have made his acting more believable. Eh…, Not that far fetched, Zellweger does it all the time for Bridget Jones.

In regards to the confrontation between Sharon and Dianna getting her knee caps busted, perhaps it’s a little like Starbuck speculated about turning off pain… that all the Dianna models where programmed to have less pain receptors. Unlike Cavil apparently… and I’m sure if it was an Aaron Doral, he’d be cryin’ like an eleven year old girl just wailing his frakin’ head off.
Oh and it’s nice to know that someone else has the habit of fingering quote marks while saying the word “god.” I started doing that way before Battlestar. So HA!

Futurama is going have a few direct-to-DVD movies coming out so there’s still a chance to hear Bender say, what I have always pictured him saying: “We must execute them… Publicly!” “The gloves are coming off.” “Or else we start reducing the human population to a more, manageable size.” “And no more mister nice Fry for you!” Have an episode parody both the “Droid Battle on Geonosis” and “Battlestar”. So I did notice that in Futurama episode 3-13, they drew a cylon playing guitar, did any of you catch that?

Audra should sing a new outrro for the podcast. Actually you all should sing, and in Iambic pentameter!
One last thing, you guys sound so punchy… best lay off the KaMala Brownies.
Gotta go. My BLT drive on my computer just went AWOL.

Awesome. I was pretty sure it was a listener, but wasn’t positive until you claimed your token. Please print out your geek card and brandish it proudly (when appropriate.)
