GWC Podcast #70

point taken…

I am thrilled that folks here at the forum can answer seemingly any question we bring up in the 'casts. Mythology, Musicals, British Parliamentary history - thanks all for sharing your brains! (mmm, brains.)

So I thought the blackadder Joke deserved justice, its around half way through this segment http://youtube.com/watch?v=imAAfv83Keo

the first part is here http://youtube.com/watch?v=NmY5Yuuo8d0

and the last part http://youtube.com/watch?v=ICmlXYX_nM4

The best thing about Blackadder is it gives people a chance to see that Hugh Laurie was actually famous and talented before HOUSE, and his partner in comedy Stephen Fry feature ins some episodes as well.

Ipad guides

This is the first time I ever listened to this. Good job. I want to send you a mp3 casue I can’t call, but I can’t find a email.

My wife loves House but, since she’s married to me, is also keenly aware of Black Adder. So every time we’re watching House and Hugh Laurie makes his first appearance, I always go “cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck…” in that silly George IV voice of his.

Well, it’s funny to me anyway.

I love house but I certainly don’t think its the best thing Hugh Laurie ever did and its sad that most americans haven’t and won’t see his other works.

Babes live

Hello Im new to this forum and have been listening to you guys for the past few months. Really enjoy your podcast once you get down to it, lol only joking (i luv all of it).

I totally agree with the statement above, and do agree its unfortunate that the americans probably wont get a chance to see his other works, unless ofcourse they are released on dvd and prove popular!!!

Just got off watching RAZOR and i was a bit bemused to why it was available so soon, i could of sworn it was out later, so i check the website and its not out for another 15 days or so. Good stuff, i thouroughly recommend!!

P.S. do not watch the new I AM LEGEND movir trailer,it gives everything away including the badies

oh yes, i had the Ti-99 4A, a radio shack “coco”
and the commodore 64C -the c was for color!

I haven’t watched the mini in a long time, but I don’t think that Adama the Elder did not seem surprised that the Cylons looked human. I was always curious as to how he knew so quickly

Until the end of S3 I alway thought that Anders just got better, since we know they didn’t get the medicine in time.

But it is an iteresting idea that it was a way for him to blend in with the humans, although I don’t know for sure that even the writers knew at the time that the episode that shall not be named was shot that Anders was going to be a Cylon. I know it was later in S3 before they decided, but not as late as right before the episode. Per Aaron Douglas he knew before he was officially told (he was at either a producers or writers house and saw a list that he shouldn’t have).

Hey that was my first computer too…I programmed in Basic and they had a graphic one too - with the little turtle.

any you say?
what is my name
what is my quest
and what is my favroite color multiplied by the average flying vilocity of a swallo squared by frak?

You know, it’s funny that I haven’t actually seen House, though I hear it’s great. So I only think of Hugh Laurie as the Prince Regent in Black Adder, lol. When I heard him speak in an American accent in a t.v. trailer for House, I was surprised to hear such a strange voice coming from him.

Oh, and the joke is at about 4:40 in the first YouTube link you gave.

GWC,

This post is to address your Ally Sheedy and Margot Kidder comments in episode 70. Margot Kidder suffers from bipolar disorder. Margot Kidder is not crazy.

I saw the bit on Family Guy which depicts Margot Kidder in an obviously exaggerated manic psychotic phase of her illness. Seth McFarlane uses pop culture as the canvas for his show and decided to exploit Ms. Kidder’s former manic episode. Although I am a fan of his show, I think he enjoys controversy a bit too much.

As hilarious as it might be to see a crazy woman run around the room, crash through walls, break glass, and shout gibberish; a manic episode is not funny. Having experienced it twice in my life I can tell you I’ve never been more scared.

There is so much ignorance and prejudice surrounding mental illness. Margot Kidder didn’t just go crazy. She suffers from a mental condition that she, like many others who don’t realize, treated with drugs and alcohol until she experienced a serious manic episode and was hospitalized and diagnosed. She is now receiving proper care for her condition and will hopefully never have to experience a manic episode again.

I’ve listened to your show from episode 1 and love it. Your insights and commentary are engaging and entertaining. I make these comments to educate not to criticize.

Bipolar disorder is a serious condition. My wife was diagnosed in 2002 but has lived with it her whole life. The trauma of childbirth triggered her first episode and the suicide of a close friend triggered the second. The hardest part for a person with bipolar is you can’t trust yourself. Since it affects your mind, you honestly believe the crazy things that may come up. It is manageable with proper care and meds.

Keep up the good work.

attention. I Elliot Daniels ( the kid) has an announcement. The Spinny-wheel ship is actually called the space park intersun ring liner! I found this out in the Battlestar Galactica official companion seoson two book. I found it at borders for $14.99. ps i am 12.

Nice find Elliot. Does it say who named it? Like RDM or the FX Crew?

It does not say who named it or who made it. It just shows a picture of it and it’s name, along with the galactica, cloud nine, cylon base star, and gemenon cruiser.

Attention, I, Starbuccaneer, have a recommendation: Elliot should be the new, Official GWC Awesome Young Knuckledragger. You know, like that cool kid who works the tyllium ship. He was 12, too, yeah?

All in favor, type Aye

Sean—as much as I like her in Hackers (just about any movie really)—go see Beowulf. Rising up out of the water, in 3D - good lawd…

just…damn…

David

Uuuhhh… I have to say, AJ scares me. I do not find her attractive- whenever I look at her I am afraid she will eat me and all of the good people in the world. But she is delightful in Hackers.

FrakkinTalos, thank you for your comment. Honestly, I didn’t know who Margot Kidder or Ally Sheedy were, and assumed the Family Guy scene was a reference to something like an exaggerated scene from a movie.

Knowing the truth about what the show was parodying changes things, of course. The show can be incredibly funny and also sometimes it goes well over the line.

We appreciate your comment and hope you continue to enjoy the podcast!

You guys frakkin ROCK!!
