GWC Podcast #70

This week we get another great 'sode as well as one of the most heart-stopping episodes of the entire rewatch. Highlights: we let everyone know about this month’s GWC book club selection Ender’s Game and our latest non-Galactica rewatch Tron, wonder whether we saw the beginnings of human-appearing Cylons in the 'sode, talk Halloween costumes, enjoy Baltar’s (misplaced) faith in Roslin’s fair election practices, discuss Western states, love on pre-breakdown Ally Sheedy, and discover that Audra knows her Police Academy.

Maybe the Chief’s labor union is striking because they’re only getting 1.2 cents from the sale of each dvd.

Groooooaaaan…

I would like to comment on the Chuck’s statement that Adama the Grey new the Leoben copy was a cylon. Hind sight is twenty twenty as In this scene

a) Adama asks if he is feeling well and Leoben states he has allergies.

b) Makes sure that Leoben walks in front of him when they are trying to find another way back to the Galactica.

Since he knew that the radiation cloud only effected cylon brains he could have known that Loeben was a cylon before the explosion.

i’m so upset. for some reason i opened itunes and EVERYTHING is gone! all my podcasts, all my music. itunes ate my stuff :frowning:

Did you check your iTunes folder? It may all still be there.

yeah, all my music is still on my computer, but itunes shows up empty :frowning:
all my delicious gwc podcasts gone :frowning:

They’re probably still there, look in iTunes/iTunes Music/Podcasts.

I was going to comment on this as well. Adamma “The Elder” has his suspiscions about Leoben from the beginning. The points that Grand Puba brings up were what I was thinking. I watched the mini-series recently and Adamma definetly knew not to trust him, but noticed how sick he was getting and he put 2 and 2 together from his experience while stranded as Adamma “The Youngin”.

i don’t even have anything in my folders :frowning: i keep my music in a seperate hard drive and that is still there. all i have is this:

Hmmmm, Yes that doesn’t sound very good does it. I had iTunes do something very similar to me once as well. Just out of interest did this happen right after an upgrade?

There isn’t a “Podcasts” folder in that “iTunes Music” folder?

ummmmm i know morse code…wow im a geek
i also know my police acedemy
… .–. … - . -…
s p i t e d
yeah pwnd
chuch if you start reading dune, so will i
audra i own no Orson Scott Card books…but ive red em all

did any of you think they were trying to make ummmmm hybrads, not human-form cylons, it makes sense hybrad is only half human, so it owuld be a logical progression
robot-cloned humans(they were just trying to clone, not make cylonzzzz)-robot/human hybrads-what we see today

When I watched the sode this morning, at the point when Adama hears that eerie voice say, “All of this has happened before and it will happen again,” it reminded me of the hybrid that we saw. While it is a cool idea that the ship is alive and has more of a soul, almost, than other Cylon mechanical models like the Centaurions, Raiders, and Heavy Raiders, it seems silly to incorporate a flesh Cylon into the ship, esp. if she is goo-bound and not able to move out of her tub. Why would the Cylons develop base stars that have that have hybrids? Or it might be better to ask, why make the ships’ hybrids take the form of a skin job? Think we’ll learn more about the hybrids before it’s all over?

I am going comment on Baltar…

The last few episodes have really showcased him, joining the election, winning the election, stranding the fleet on this nasty piece of real estate, surrendering to the Cylon, and finally becoming a Cylon puppet.

At this point in the show - is Baltar evil?

I know we have discussed this nauseam, BUT, let’s compare the re-imagined baltar to the OG 1978 Balter.

Baltar the new never gave up the humans to the Cylon, where the old one was PRIMARILY responsible for the destruction of the colonies.

Baltar stuck it out with the humans, and where it was of benefit or he was directly ordered, he has actually assisted in the survival of the humans, and their prophetic leader. OG Baltar took off with the Cylons and got command of his own base star.

Baltar the new seems genuinely distraught over his inadvertent actions on Caprica that led to the Cylon victory, and if given the chance, it is doubtful he would do it again. OG Baltar actually seemed to want to see the humans killed, which I remember being very confusing to my eight year old mind.

So is Baltar evil? No… He is lazy, cowardly, self-serving, egotistical, short sighted, and very very stupid. But evil… no. I don’t think so… at least not yet. Later in season three, I think he definitely begins to blur the line and allow his self-serving attitude to coerce him in to doing some rather evil deeds, but up till now, he is just a moron.

One thing did confuse me though… Roslin, as president, NEVER ordered Adama to do anything… even when they were butting heads… So what makes Baltar think that he can order Adama around? And why is Adama listening to him… The civilian fleet could have been “ordered” by Baltar to go to the planet, but Galactica should be free to do as they please…

come to think of it, yes. i did the auto-upgrade last week.

Double-click on the folder “iTunes Music”. If there are any contents in there you should find podcasts in the folder entitled “Podcasts”. If you see that folder double-click it. After that you are looking for a folder that says something about Galactica Watercooler. Double-click that one and in the resulting display you want to right click and sort by the modified date. The most recent file is what you want to listen to.

both of those folders are empty. I think itunes erased everything when i upgraded :frowning:

Did you try searching for the actual files on your computer? I’m away from mine at the moment or I’d tell you what to look for.
