May I take this moment to say…Woo Hoo!!!

Here’s a link on the Star Trek: The Experience props warehouse sale that happened yesterday. Way out of my budget. :frowning: It has quite a few pictures to see what was up for grabs.

The old TNN commercial Sean mentioned (I remember it well, homie):

Oh, hell yeah man, that’s the one exactly! Rock on!

Kind of edgy for TNN, isn’t it?

omm-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM-NOM

hey guys,

Like the Crue, I was extremely close to saying “buh bye” after the “dog shooting” and “Daughter burning” scenes. And if some of you (like the Rev) have, I aint mad atcha.

But I keep going back to the conversation I had with Dawn, Beef and some other GWC fo9lks at the meetup about the show. Yes, it’s dark. Yes, at times it is really frakked up. But there’s so much good story possibilities there. Who is the Cylon God? What is life? What is humanity?

I’m going to stick with it for the time being to see if those questions are answered. but, like Chuck suggested…it doesn;t have to be dark ALL the time. A happy medium would be fine.

I wish I was part of the conversation. But I was HAMMERED and bouncing around the room and conversations like a nut

Caprica is definitly DARK, however I was not turned off by the almost dog shooting. I totally understand where Sean is coming from though. I especially like the insight into William Adamas childhood. I think this helps explain a lot of his character as an adult especially with the gangster family background. Also, with Sean on everyone checking out Spartacus Blood and Sand. It is an incredible show.

Dude - I was impressed I was having a conversation of any sort after Patrone shots…

FWIW, I’ll definitely continue watching Caprica. Like I said in the 'cast, it’s good art. And I certainly care what happens to the characters. I love the fact that there’s a good chance a lot of the people I like in the show will turn out to be the true harbingers of doom. Great stuff – just not always fun, know what I mean?

Does anyone know anything about the pacing of the TNG episodes? You’d think Families would have directly followed Besta Both Worldz, but it doesn’t. Did they stagger out the big, consequential episodes, or tinker with the on-air order?

Family DID follow directly after Best of Both Worlds, Part II.

That would certainly explain it, then.

Yes, and bear in mind that TNG was very episodic. It was very rare that they’d carry an arc and even much of any plot points from one episode to the next. The Best of Both Worlds I+II and Family was a rare exeception—tho there were a few other two-parters.

That was a great conversation the group of us had about Caprica at the meetup. I think it was my favorite part of the weekend, because I was so happy to be able to discuss the show in depth with fellow GWC-ers. Yes, the show is dark and hard to watch at times. It’s so compelling though. But I do agree that you have to be in the right frame of mind to watch it. I felt like that sometimes with Battlestar, but then every once in a while you would see a small gleam of hope, or fun or laughter. I hope Caprica incorporates some of that as well, to keep the tone from getting too dreary. Maybe that is the point though- perhaps the show is always going to have a dark tone, to illustrate how damaged their society is.

Oh, and Default Prophet- you were quite entertaining during the Caprica discussion!!

It’s true that the brief moments of light seen in BSG were that much greater because the show was so dark. The David Eick podcasts discuss how the Clarice character was originally conceived to be a Baltar like villain with a mix of comedy thrown it to the antagonism. However, they realized they needed a much stronger villain in the back half of the season so they removed much of the comedy involving her.

It will be difficult to include much lightness in the series because we do know it is driving to the destruction of the Colonial civilization…

btw–the last 15 or so minutes of the 'cast—couldn’t have said it better!

Some fo the things I am into now are because of you guys and the folsk on the forum…

BTW Part II–can’t frakkin wait for Iron Man 2!!

What are the Caprica podcasts like? Same style as the BSG ones with RDM – essentially commentary tracks?
