I think he faked not remembering her name to deflect any hints of their relationship. Only, it had the opposite effect.
Just watched it on HULU, it is sooo much easier to follow the story without all those annoying commercials… And what is up with those bizzare ‘breaks’? Right in the middle of something POW commercial break… WTF?
FYI:
Sam states during the assualt that it is the Lucian Alliance attacking, and that it is the base they are focusing their attention on. Remember the landing craft??
Lou Diamond Phillips is in the GUEST starring section of the opening credits, and sure enough he is in a 302 fighter when everyone is evacuating the base. So he either died defending the base or he managed to get aboard Sam’s ship before she ‘bugged out’. He will not be returning…
I found it interesting that the Scientist (Rush) was slimier a less trust worthy than the politician.
Actually what she says when asked if it is the Lucian alliance is “that would be my guess, they havent introduced themselves.” So maybe, maybe not.
LDP will be returning for at least 5 episodes(according to the SGU wiki), the question is whether its in flashbacks or not.
Al, why hasn’t the gate opened?
Oooops… I misheard.:o
Probably left it open so it would not have any impact on future Stargate Movies in the works.
Hopefully everyone will remember that I was suggesting that his contributions in other areas are far more significant and worthy of discussion.
Or feed him to them.
Besides, I’m just taking about putting a pencil and a camera in a shuttle. Not like they couldn’t get them back once they fixed the ship.
Now they either have to haul out a corpse or ignore the shuttle for the rest of a show.
It’s possible — possible, mind you — that he’s not dead or at least won’t stay dead. The Ancients had all sorts of technology for preserving, prolonging, and even restoring life (although, admittedly, that last one had a few bugs in it).
The actor mentioned in an interview I’d read about how he’s changed his workout specifically for this role, so I’m doubting that will be last time we see him in his skivvies.
That would be truly awe-inspiring.
Crowd psychology tends to go with the flow, so the civilians will, by and large, follow whomever declares themselves the leader. Military training respects a hierarchical authority structure, so most, if not all, of the military personnel will follow whomever those above them follow. Only the people who traditionally wield power would openly question his authority, something they’re probably reluctant to do, since he’s arguably the only person who can keep them alive on an alien spacecraft billions (and billions and billions ;)) of light years from home.
I vaguely remember stone use (IYKWIM). Could be retconned otherwise I would have thought they’d remind the audience of that tidbit.
I think it was used as it has been before, but a refresher was still in order. I’ve watched Stargate from the very beginning, and I still wasn’t clear on what happened until he explained it (briefly). I’m sure that new watchers were completely lost there.
Agreed. I’m amazed that so few people had given Stargate a chance (including ahem our hosts, until recently), but it’s great to see how many people have decided to try it. So far, no one I’ve seen who’s been willing to give it a shot has come away disappointed.
As to the people flying out of the Gate - could be something as simple as imperfect artifical gravity.
Brian J. Smith, who plays Lt. Scott, said this on Twitter:
because the 9th chevron address is VERY far away - so the wormhole is especially strong due to the energy requirements.
not when you’re traveling several billion light years from the point of origin. It’s much more intense.
Take it or leave it, but I’m willing to accept that as a definitive, “straight from the horse’s mouth” explanation.
Just in case anyone hasn’t already stumbled across it yet, the two-part pilot is available as a free download in iTunes, and in HD, no less.
Not that that in any way downplays his contributions to the field of psychopharmacology, of course.
Oh, and calling Jonas Quinn a “Daniel replacement” is so not right. The dude never even died once!
That’s where the Ancient communication devices come into play. If the directors of the series are anything like the ones on SG-1, they will have LDP at Stargate Command Earth piggybacking his consciousness on a crew member on Destiny’s side. We’ll see LDP, though.
They could use this technique to bring any guest star onto the ship, say, if they needed the best expert on Ancients, zip Michael Shanks over for a spot.
I totally agree with Sean that Elyse Levesque being cast as Chloe Armstrong feel, and she looks alot like Summer. I’m glad they is someone close to Eli age so they can have some sexally tension like Sam and Jack.
Eli? Sexual tension? I dont buy it.
I thought I saw Chloe and the bookshelf humping guy making out in one of the preview scenes.
it might have just been chloe and the Bookshelf…
Chloe and Lt. Scott make sense. Although a geek with a legit love interest would certainly be a refreshing change of pace.
Great point on the ominous dubbing of Project (Operation?) Icarus. Like, why not call it Operation Tragic Doom?
The “videogame is really a a recruitment test” trope now permanently calls to mind not Last Starfighter, but the episode of the Clerks cartoon that’s a 3-way homage to Last Starfighter, Bad News Bears, and Temple of Doom: Randall plays a video game --what’s it called, Pyramid or Pharaoh? – whose object is to build pyramids and avoid slave masters. And when he cracks the high score, they recruit him and bring him to a a faraway country… to build pyramids.
Check it out, the video game that Eli was playing at the begining of the show was the actual Stargate MMO, called Stargate Worlds.

Cool.

If that’s true, I may have to reconsider trying the MMO. Is there a single person who didn’t think it was a Mass Effect clone?
I didnt get a Mass Effect vibe at all from it, it looked like any other shooter, although I was surprised to see it looked like Atlantis. Though now that I hear it came from the MMO it makes sense.
I got an MMO clone, figured it COULD have been SG:Worlds
