Up this week: Dr. Horrible! Highlights: we love us some Bad Horse, talk evil vs. big-E-evil, discuss what it means when those who keep us stable depart, compare Moist to Doogie’s buddy Vinnie (and note that of everyone in this show, Moist comes out on top), pay homage to Venture Brothers (and recognize the debt Dr. H owes to VB’s superhero humor), hear the Audra Nathan-Fillion-is-buff report, and wonder how Dr. H handles no longer being the craziest guy in the room.
Juan! that’s so awesome… and very Dr. Horrible like!
For dear, sweet Penny, in!
Nathan Fillion in semi-buff Firefly mode:
Nathan Fillion in SUPER-buff Captain Hammer mode:
His neck is about 30% thicker in Horrible, I swear it!!
A couple months ago, they released a recut version of the SG-1 pilot that cut around the nudity among other changes. Unfortunately, they dubbed over the MacGuyver line as one of them.
The recut version of the pilot is a lot better.
Good stuff guys. Dr. Horrible was a ton of fun, and I’m glad you all got that it was basically a tragic comedy (sci-fi musical) at its core, not just a silly comedy.
My idea for GWC’s entry into the Evil League of Evil: Chuck IS the evil twin.
I’m a huge Stargate fan, and I’m really looking foreward to the Stargate Arc. You might want to consider adding the original movie too the rewatch though, I think its an important part of the story, even though it is somewhat different then the show.
And since I don’t know where else to put this, the photo of you guys in the Stargate gear is 10 kinds of awesome!
i watched Dr. Horrible the first time it was mention on the forum way back when it first came out. Also had it not been for GWC, i never would have know about The Guild or Legend of Neil.
I too watched Dr. Horrible when it first was mentioned on the forums. I enjoy it immensely except for one thing. Those songs really stick in your head.
Good job on the intro song the only problem is it stays in your head too.
I watched 2 seasons of The Guild but not the Legend of Neil.
Thanks for the podcasts.
Mel’s loose shirt may be a bit misleading. I do think that since the writer’s strike Hammer probably had more time for the gym. Do you think that T- Shirt could be any tighter?
Solid podcast, lots of fun as usual. I think these last three are among the best since BSG.
You know what’s cool? My wife and kids enjoy listening to the casts, and none of them are scifi/fantasy fans. They react to the organic humor that springs up in the course of the casts.
I’m looking forward to the Stargate arc, even though I pretty much gave up on Atlantis (I just didn’t CARE about the characters as much as the SG1 crew).
Nathan Fillion is pretty no matter how buff! But I did notice he was more beefy in Dr Horrible, too, Audra, and as soon as you said it in the 'cast, I yelled out “Yes, yes! He is!”
No, thank the gods!
But anyway, great cast, folks! I completely agree with your assessment of Joss Whedon’s genius, too. He has this way of giving you characters you can relate to, emotionally investing you in them, and then ripping your heart out and making you want more.
A bit off topic but could someone get a picture from his new series and put all three next to each other? Wouldn’t that be dreamy? Oh, I just fell into fan girl land.
To settle this Mel v.s. Cap. Hammer debate, and sidestep the loose shirt issue, I suggest the viewing of the episode Trash of firefly, as it provides a great reference to Nathan’s buffness without any kind of obstruction.
I’d like to make it clear: neither Nathan Fillion nor Captain Malcolm Reynolds has an “I love Lady D” tattoo on his derriere
Then, where is the tattoo? (:
Just Captain Hammer. Gotcha.
Hmm. I’d say his chest is definitely broader, but I couldn’t find a pic with his arms flexed from Dr H…
Aw, don’t be shy! We all know Captain Tightpants is smitten with our Lady D!
