GWC Podcast #158 (Bonus)

Besides taking some listener calls regarding the finale, we’re joined by special guest Michael Hogan, who gave us what’s likely the best BSG wrap-up experience we’re likely to find. Thanks again to everyone who attended the first annual GWC National Meetup! Look for our regularly-scheduled podcast tomorrow morning.

What an awesome and funny interview with Michael Hogan. I would love to meet him at a con sometime. :smiley:

I freaking love Michael Hogan. “The cops are after me, hang on!” Hehehehe

Yahoo!!!

Thanks Audra, Chuck, and Sean for this treat. What a lovely surprise to get me out of my post-BSG blues.

And an interview with Michael Hogan to boot…frakkin’ awesome.

Congratulations on getting Hogan! He does sound like a surprisingly nice, humble guy. It seems you guys can get almost anyone from the show now. Do you think we’re going to get an RDM interview in the near future???

PS. I believe the caller meant Nubia (in modern Sudan) instead of Ethiopia. Egyptian culture extended into Nubia.

Yeeaahh!!! :smiley:

that was FRAKTACULAR!

Michael Hogan! What a lovely guy!

Talk about your stocking stuffers!

GWC=WIN!

That was a great interview with MH! He is insightful and hilarious. It’s interesting to think of him as not only one of the oldest beings alive (being a FFer and all). But even within the context of a Colonial, he’d be one of the oldest survivors of the holocaust.

Holy Craaaaaaaaaaap Michael Hogan is awesome! Double awesome, because from what I have seen he does not tend to do a lot of press or publicity in general, so kudos to the crew for getting him on the phone.

I would have asked him to say “Craaaaaaap” but then again I’m just immature.

you can say that again! wow Michael Hogan is such a great character!!! he shared so much!!

What a pro. I’m so glad to hear he’s come around on going to conventions.

I think you could have brought up the ‘craaap’ thing. I’m guessing he would have been amused.

The difference between Architect and Cavil is that Cavil is Agent Smith…

Great to hear Sean’s been watching Death Note! Good man!
Hey Sean, What did you think of the end of the first season of Gundam 00?

No, I did not. The Egyptian empire went that far south into Africa at it’s height. There is speculation that the Queen of Sheba, in fact, came from there. At the time it was called Aksum. The Sudan…if I remember correctly is where they believe the Hitites were from. They were an empire that the Egyptians fought many continually throughout their history.

As much as I’m bummed he didn’t do the “craaaaap” line, I think you guys did good keeping the interview fun and classy. :slight_smile: I’m still really impressed at the number of cast members who have been featured on GWC!

RE: Star System / Colonies

Here is what I found out from the Battlestar Wiki, hopefully one day the BSG Bible will be published and all will be revealed.

[i]The Twelve Colonies of Kobol are located in the star system Cyrannus.[5]

Caprica, Scorpia (Razor), and Tauron (Razor) have been shown as actual planets. Caprica’s surface (mostly its cities and wooded areas) have been seen, and only a glimpse of Tauron’s surface has been shown (Razor). No other descriptions are available of the other colonies in terms of their celestial type: Minor planet, moon, or major planet. However, in the Miniseries, Elosha states that the tribes settled onto “12 worlds.” While the use of “worlds” is ambiguous, the Colonies are noted as independent, habitable celestial bodies. In the Miniseries, Adama reports that nuclear detonations were reported on the planets Aerilon, Picon, Sagittarion and Gemenon, saying that at least those four Coloinies were planets.

Although Commander Adama and President Roslin mention leaving the star system, the series itself is ambiguous as to whether all colonies are located in one star system. However, Caprica, Virgon, and Ragnar (based on tactical data related by Lieutenant Felix Gaeta)[6] are (Miniseries). In a blog entry Ronald D. Moore states that all planets are situated within one system, in keeping with the Original Series.

The Twelve Colonies had approximately 20 billion inhabitants prior to the Cylon attack (The Resistance)[7] and maintained some minor observatories and listening posts in outlying star systems.[8] Economic activity, such as tylium mining also occurred outside of the immediate vicinity around the Colonies (Hero). For Saul Tigh:

Years I served with Bill Adama…30;
Number of years on the run…from the frakking skin jobs…4;
Number of times I thought my wife was killed, only to find out later she lived…twice!
Eye lost…1!

Getting that frakking song out of my head!

PRICELESS!!!
