Best theory I have heard so far.

Related theory: Lee was drunk when he got back to his apartment, do you think he was responsible for the accident with Laura’s family?

I’m hoping that they don’t connect these flashbacks ala LOST. First off, it would be too derivative, and everyone would notice. We’ve already made a few LOST jokes with the flashbacks, so hopefully they’re not taking this one all the way and showing us that survivors’ lives were all interconnected long before The Fall. That would be IMO, a bit corny. We already have the thousand and one coincidences that kept the Final Five alive, and weaving the characters’ flashbacks into each other would be a little too much.

Plus, I don’t think I could respect Lee if he was responsible for the deaths of Laura’s family due to drunk driving and never got caught for it.

LOVED this episode…really brought back the whole vibe of seasons past…right downto Lee back in uniform at the end…sweeeeeet…

…now I may the only person out there who disagrees…but I really didn;t see Caprica Six teh way you guys saw her inteh episode. I saw the baby-neck-breaking - “are you alive” asking - do anything to get the codes to bring down the defenses so Humanity and go boom- Six. I saw the six that would kill or manipulate anyone (espeically baltar) to get what she wanted.

That’s just my two cubits.

The only point in the podcast I disagree with was the analysis of the Adama flashback. I don’t see why Adama would use his experience as “the Commander of two Battlestars” as a reason for not doing the decommissioning ceremony. This felt more like he was being asked to sell something or be the big smiling face for something beneath him.

The only point in the podcast I disagree with was the analysis of the Adama flashback. I don’t see why Adama would use his experience as “the Commander of two Battlestars” as a reason for not doing the decommissioning ceremony. This felt more like he was being asked to sell something or be the big smiling face for something beneath him.

I may be wrong but I thought the flashback referred to a job interview. With the decommissioning of Galactica, Bill was about to retire and the work he was being offered lacked the importance and challenges that he had hoped for. He just couldn’t translate his military experience into an equivalent position in civilian life. “Has been” syndrome if you like.

This week’s EW has an oral history of the reimagined mini series. It’s here online, but it’s a total ass-pain where you need to click thru 33 different pages to read it. Anyhow, one tidbit is that the actors up for the Baltar role were Callis and John Cryer (2.5 Men, Pretty In Pink’s “Ducky”).

I thought the thing Bill was trying to get out of in the flashback might have something to do with his divorce, a final hearing or something. Hence the civvies. That’s just my impression.

My impression was that it had something to do with “after” Adama’s retirement.

I’m really glad you said that Glim. I think because my mind (our minds) have gotten so used to shows like Lost, Heroes and…quite frankely Seinfeld, we’ve become trained to expect characters plots lines to all weave together. But, as you say, in this case it would be too corny. Or in RDM’s kinda words that would be too “arch”. So, yeah, it’s much better for those plots lines to be isolated on their own.

The Crew was skeptical (as I would have been, had I not heard of it), but the idea of jumping close to this “black hole” is not a stretch. Racetrack specifically says that it’s a naked singularity, a theoretical idea which I had been unfamiliar with until I read about them in SciAm a month or so ago. They don’t have event horizons, so it’s possible to be on top of one, like Racetrack was, without falling in.

The breakdown of general relativity at such a location may not be a failure of the theory per se but a sign that space and time have an edge. The singularity marks the place where the physical world ends. We should think of it as an event rather than an object, a moment when collapsing matter reaches the edge and ceases to be, like the big bang in reverse.

Now that sounds like the setup to the end of BSG.

My wife, who does not watch the show, walked by during the opening sequence “Previously, on Battlestart Galactica…”. She noticed Hera’s drawing of the notes to Watchtower and commented that they look like they are a DNA sequence. Starbuck is trying to figure out what the song means with hybrid-Anders, maybe it is Hera’s hylon DNA sequence. Cavil is trying to figure out what Hera is and she’s handing him drawings of her DNA.
