GWC Podcast #155: BSG 4.5 Islanded In A Stream Of Stars

We’re in the final countdown to the end of BSG – only two episodes left. Highlights: We wonder if Anders has become the new Galactica hybrid, try to puzzle out the meaning of the projected “betrayal house,” ponder Hera’s future, recognize the human recognition of cylon worth via a mass funeral, feel for Helo’s sad situation with Athena, enjoy Baltar’s return to Baltardom (but suspect it will end badly), realize that we should have known from the beginning the the fate of the show is tied to the fate of the Galactica, plus take some time out to discuss the latest (incredible) Trek trailer.

Thanks for getting this out so early!

I’m off to listen!

I doubt this will have any bearing on the plot but those are classic cylon raiders.

Those jumped right out at me when I saw that scene. Wonder if they were homages or did Grandpa keep some old ships since he hooked up with the FF way back when?

Chuck, you got your wish the old Adama is back. Choosing to leave the Galactica but not before he told us that it would be a grand sendoff. Can’t wait for next weeks episode. Two to go !!!

I agree with Chuck & Audra: How many times are they going to use that device? I know times are tough but I’m getting tired of the weekly Adama breakdowns followed by some realization/massive decision. It’s tired and I’m numb to it, too.

Thanks for posting this screen shot to confirm what I saw.

I was watching the episode around midnight, and thought I was so tired that I was just seeing things.

So does this mean Larry & friends are around somewhere??

Speaking of screen caps, was that RaceTrack in the Raptor in the preview for next week? They found something so it must have been her.

It’s totally Racetrack. How the frak else are they gonna find the Colony after it’s disappeared?

And old-style Raiders. Very cool. I wonder what it means.

I really don’t think that was Racetrack, but that was DEFINITELY Skulls in the backseat.

I am so disapponted in Sean and Audra for not jumping on Chuck when he said, “I love young Bones”

Sean, Chuck, and Audra can talk Trek for hours and I wouldn’t care. You guys have me so pumped for Star Trek now.

I called in on this as well, but I was thinking that Adama will give Helo his wish to go look for Hera and then take the Galactica to go get Hera back. I think the dangerous mission that Adama is asking for volunteers for in the trailer is the ‘get Hera back/kick Cavil’s a%&’ mission.

Did anyone else think Grace Park (and Sean’s minor obsession with her) when Sean said ‘Park our expectations’?

I love you guys, but it really breaks my heart when you spend so much time talking about other stuff. Yes, Star Trek is great, the new trailer was awesome, but Galactica is ending, this was the second to last episode. You will have all the time in the world to talk about Star Trek and whatnot, this will probably be the only show where you talk about this episode.

Please give Galactica some respect.

So say we all

Goo… You guys are obsessed with the Goo!

As for Adama crying, I agree, it does not have quite the impact as it does the first time. However, I don’t think we will see it again. When he was done this time, he was done, and he made his decision. Maybe if Laura dies, he will cry, but other then that, I don’t think we will see that kind of emotion from him again.

I’m a bit confused. Why would the crew never talk about Galactica again, when its run is over? I have no doubt that Chuck, Audra, and Sean will take another journey down BSG memory lane in the future.

If there is something you wish to discuss or would like to hear their input on, let it be known. Post it here on the forum. The crew and GWC in general are always obliged to engage in discussion.

Let’s face it, these last episodes are heavy and intense. You need a break and some levity. The episodes need to be processed and I think this forum allows that process to happen.

What I mean is that this is the only time you can discuss this episode as it is. They will probably never have a show about this exact episode again. I’m sure they are going to talk about Galactica for a while and it will be great.

I just feel like this is IT, Galactica is almost over and it will only end once, but the Crew, as much as I love them is still goofing around and not taking it with the seriousness that it requires.

I enjoy the off-topic stuff and all the funny comments when they are doing movie arcs and whatnot, but this is what we have been waiting for. I would like some more in depth discussion about everything in the episode.

It’s been 30 years since I’ve heard that used by someone else. That was my intoduction to Texas when my dad was ordered there back in the late 70s. I as what was for lunch–Frito Pie! Even in a poor school though we still had onions and cheese. During the podcast I even yelled out FRITO PIE seconds before the phrase was used and almost had to pull over I was laughing so hard. Thanks for taking me back to that dark time of adolescence…

And “soda water” was the other thing that confused me. All carbonated drinks were soda waters. I thought people were offering me club soda!

I burst into laughter at our trip to Target today…something that I normally wouldn’t even notice had new significance:
