GWC Podcast #148

Think things can’t get crazier in BSG 4.5? Witness The Oath. Joined this week by Michael Trucco, we take in the Starbuck and Adama badassery (and compare Starbuck’s hangar bay arrival to Mal’s at the end of the Firefly pilot), lament Seelix and Racetrack’s misguided betrayals, suffer the loss of reason as Zarek releases his inner snake once and for all, note Adamlin’s too-little-too-late attempt to take up their leadership roles, discuss who’s betraying their oath (read: almost everyone), delve into the (possibly endless) cycle of revenge, wonder what final-cylon Ellen will have to say about Tigh meeting a grenade, and hear an awesome live report from the Phoenix Comicon. Note: Look for a call show mid-week where we’ll respond to all the wonderful listener calls that we couldn’t fit in this ‘cast!

Michael Trucco! Holy flipping fllapping craap, Chuck!
You rock!

I think we might need to order the ladies some oxygen to get through this cast. Trucco swoon

Here’s the music I used for the intro.

EDIT: and I wanted to add, thanks for being patient enough with that; it’s taken me more than once to perfect that method of making an intro; I think the first time I sent it it was by accident- I meant to delete it. Now I’ve gotten good enough at it that if I ever decide to try again, I can do it right the first time and not flood your mailbox.

Yay, Trucco! DL’ing now.

Oh, no, I just had a horrible thought: this doesn’t mean Anders is going to die, does it?! The timing of the Kandyse McClure interview has made me a bit superstitious…

Troo-co! Troo-co! Another super score, can’t wait to listen. Did he seem extra-tall over the phone?

Redundant comment from another thread, but it bears repeating: I’m generally quite weary of the flashback story structure, which RDM loves so much. But this one time, I’d like the next episode to start with all the major characters sitting around, toasting each other, laughing, happy, all glad to be safe, the insurrection for behind them. Then Tigh says “That sure was close, but Gaeta and Zarek got what was coming to them. For a minute there, I thought they had us…” [cue flashback]

“…and that’s how I almost got 'em!”

And if any of you can name the episode and show that quote is from, I will buy you a drink at the finale.

“That’s what I call a sticky situation!”

Same bet.

Can’t believe that you didn’t tell Michael Trucco that he’s a favorite on the arm porn thread here! Great interview…great podcast as always. Now let’s hope he doesn’t die in the next episode!

“I… what?”

‘And so ends our interview with Michael Trucco…’

Thanks for another great 'cast AND some quality Trucco time. He had me going, too, regarding his “original Bob Dylan” line. Funny guy and I hope we hear from him again when The Plan airs. ((hint hint))

Regarding Caprica Six’s ensemble – Wardrobe partially provided by Ellen Tigh

Hmm…I assumed the preview line of Tigh dying was a bluff, but maybe he does die and the Final Five Cylon storyline is furthered. If so, I think we will see him resurrect, we will see Ellen again and she will relay to him their history. Heck, maybe this will all occur on a Cavil ship…

Gaeta and Zarek: insert Zeppelin song here - Your Time is Gonna Come

As always, another enjoyable podcast. Thanks!

I thought actors are supposed to be self-involved ego maniacs (not unlike myself). Michael Trucco was affable, modest, self-deprecating and bright to boot! Same goes for the other recent interviews, it makes me love the show that much more.

You guys also ask interesting questions, a little outside the box. not the usual paint-by-numbers crap you get on the tonight show, etc.

On another topic, the web designer in me thinks the lighting bolt graphic on the GWC homepage extending left implies a new button to come?

SS

I really enjoyed the podcast  The interview with Michael Trucco was very interesting, though I thought his voice sounded a little different than on the show.

Three has been alot of love shown for Tigh lately, but I think this last episode puts the Chief above Tigh in my book. Consider this, all sorts of schisse is coming down and the Chief calmly takes action. On another note, I find it interesting that the three most morally/ethically attractive characters on the show are members of the final five.

Lovely 'cast, and lovely interview from the awesome Michael Trucco. It’s too bad that his first contact with Internet fandom was so negative–I wish he’d found the board here at the time and seen that fans can be really nice and supportive, too.

I know! Part of me wishes we could say to him: there’s a reason we like GWC - we’re nice!! Promise!

Audra was on the verge with respect to Zarek. Go back to season 2 when Zarek and one of his henchman (can’t remember the characters name offhand but he’s played by a good character actor) were talking about the future of the “fleet” that left for kobol. While Zarek may have some inkling of a belief in democracy, his only motivation is to be in control/command.

I don’t think it has anything as “sheep” as was also mentioned. It seems to be power through Machievalean (sp?) principles. Zarek is the Prince.

[Shuffles prepared statement]

Ahem…

We at the GWC have no sense of humor that we are aware of and we can neither confirm or deny the rumors that new buttons exist.

Though should new buttons exist they would not be scary buttons or buttons that scramble peoples thoughts. They would also not be used for world domination. Most certainly, they would not dispense tasty homemade cookies.

This concludes the prepared statement, turn to camera and smile reassuringly. Wait for the red camera light to go off… oh crap, I wasn’t supposed to read that p-

…end transmission

I have to admit that when available, I’ll listen to the RDM podcast before listening to the GWC podcast. Ron’s podcast is quick and you get to hear what is going on from the Horse’s Mouth in the order of events as the show progresses.

Listening to the GWC podcast afterward I get to hear all the speculation about what happened and the possible motivations behind the action. I then find comparing and contrasting the two podcasts enjoyable as they both compliment each other. The interviews add a lot more, as well.
