GWC Podcast #143

This is why I love you guys! When we go to our relatives for the holidays we are subjected to innumerable dreary football games while I and my husband sit buried in our books. Seriously, my 7 year old nephew said to me “Why can’t you name any quarterbacks other than Peyton Manning?” (In point of fact, he provided me with the name Payton Manning, as I would not have known it otherwise), to which I retorted, quite maturely: “Well, what can you tell me about Vorlons?” That shut him up, right quick. Obviously, we are the black sheep of the family. My son is going to be the kid with the coke-bottle glasses reading comics in the corner. Geek-lovers unite!

The funny thing is that The GF was the sports fan when we met.

That was frakking cool! You are very creative. And what great timing, me having tonsillitis and sounding like a frog and all. Between the bonus 'casts and that I better get my arse into gear for this week!

Oooooo! I want one!

OMG. I thought Audra was going to pass out from the laughing at one point.

Great 'cast.

I never realized the “that’s hot” was a P. Hilton catch-phrase.

Bring on the man-<sorry barb>s and cummerbunds! Wait. It is spelled cummer-bunds? Now I want one.

Hey Bahston! Nice work on the opening! I too was lulled into a false sense of security by your dulcet tones, just before the silliness factor kicked in and I realized you’re as crazy as the rest of us.

Nice to see another New Englander around!

Yeah. I think that was him. He’s probably reading the scifi forums w/ Mrs. Ron, though. I wonder if we could hijack them and turn them to the GWC side. maniacal laugh

That was OSSIM!! Wonderful job.

And then he starts playing on the piano “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey before the tv screen cuts to black. End of the show.

The painting in Starbuck’s apartment was also in the same episode where Kara talks for the first about her father being a pianist if I remember correctly.

And Bear has said that music was going to play a big, or even larger, part of the show, right? I remember him being very excited about it somewhere.

You are correct on your recollection. Starbuck gave Helo the rundown on her dad in her apartment when they stopped in for a smoke and a quick rest during the Caprica arc.

Little Transformer on the Prairie

Yay! And I thought people on the forum were all wicked crazy outtah townahs!

I can’t really comment about this analogy because I don’t follow pro football (GO LOCAL SPORTS FRANCHISE!!!). But I do want to point out (as I did in the the LOST section) that there are parallels between the Pegasus crew and the tail section survivors that the Losties meet up with in season 2. The episode “The other 48 days” is a lot like “Razor” in that regard and Ana Lucia and Cain have pretty similar leadership styles.

Welcome Wavilyem! Great to have another New Englander in our ranks.
You need to get more familiar with local sports. I think the Boston Bruins have a shot at the Superbowl this year…or wait, the Bruins are basketball…eeh whatever.

That is giving me all sorts of ideas. Now that new BSG is here and the Final Cylon will be revealed I need a new thread of fun. Maybe Sean will actually write an episode.

off to the drawing board

Interesting… did McCreary say that in one of his blog posts?

I’ve been watching the BGS rebroadcast on SciFi and I noticed something. Someone in the GWC crew were wondering why Tyrol was smiling when on Erf.
In one of the episodes after Callie died, Tyrol is talking to Tigh and said something to the effect that the gods were playing a big joke on them.
I guess Erf must be the punch line to the joke and Tyrol got it.

Definitely a cosmic rim shot. Great catch!

You made Chuck into Amadeus!

You mean, like, an audio genius? Of course!
