GWC Podcast #143

This week we re-watch the BSG season 4.0 finale, Revelations, in preparation for next week’s 4.5 premiere! Highlights: we wonder who’s really the president (and who’s really in charge) at this point, remember again how badass Saul Tigh is (especially in Revelations), talk about why Adama lost it, analyze Three’s “four are in the fleet” quote (and what it might mean to the final cylon’s identity), weigh Tory’s evil against BYBBQ 8’s, hear Audra’s final pre-4.5 hair report (hint: Tyrol w/shaved head is scary), and discuss the hilarity of bare male ass.

You can’t land the spiny ship!! LOL

They might not give us many , but the ones they do give are pretty amazing. I just re-watched Revelations. This show really is an epic creative accomplishment.

Last year when people were upset about the 1-year wait to 4.5, I said I was actually happy about it cause it extended the journey. Now that we’re finally here, wasn’t it worth the wait? Otherwise it would all be over for almost a year by now!

I am sooooo psyched! gonna go listen to the cast now.

this has prolly been mentioned before, but it was interesting when kara recalled Leoben saying that for children to reach their full potential, their parents must die. And Cylons are the children of man after all.

Random theory re the ruined area they are standing on at the end of the episode: The broken structures look quite ornate - could it be the opera house?

How much is sciffy paying you?

From who is the FC to mullets, male butts, nipples and Bozo. The mind reels.

Time to come to terms with the fact that D’Anna knows who is the FC - my bet is that she apologized to the FC. And he/she is a major, major character. Indeed it probably is either Laura R. (now that she has been removed from The Last Supper photo) or D’Anna herself. Again, I do not think she was joking about realizing that one is the FC.

To what Chuck said about seeing your father cry…
I’ll be open here for a moment…
My parents are recently separated I’m living with my sister, mother and grandmother now.

Recently my love and respect for my father was been lowered but I still recall those times when I saw him cry. It has an effect on you, You see someone you think can’t be broken and they are unable to deal with something and it scares the shit out of you.(sorry barb)
And to be frank, I would have done the same thing as Lee if things were better between my dad and me.

I LOVED Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego, though I got really frustrated because some of the people were just clueless. I had a friend whose cousin tried to get on the show (I know, convoluted) and it turns out you took a test, and you had to fall in a certain range - if you were too smart, they didn’t let you on, either. Hence, my frustration at the people who didn’t know the answers!

And I love the Geoquiz on NPR

There’s a reason spouse calls me his GPS…

Due to certain contractual details, I’m not able to comment at this time.

I am totally with Sean, the story I am looking forward to the most is the explanation of were Starbuck 2.0 came from.

Re-chuck’s christmas story.
Bwhahahaha!!!

BadAss Chuck!!!

The 5th is not with the Cylon or with the fleet. How about from Erf.

OOOOPS now you said it just after I typed this.

I grew up with Bozo in Chicago.

I never watched Bozo, but Where in the World is Carmen San Diego was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I was pretty good at the first round, which was like Jeopardy, only with geography, and I did okay at the final game with the big map, so long as they stayed out of Africa. But I’ve been wracking my brain, and I can’t remember what the game in the middle was; all I remember was it’s the one where in the end the player caught Carmen’s henchman/woman and got a telephone call telling them on which continent Carmen was hiding. Does anybody else remember what game the contestants had to play then? Or was there just the Jeopardy round and then the map round, and I’m imagining this intermediate round?

Edit: Speaking of Whoopi Goldberg’s awesomeness, did you see the clip over at the Sitrep of Whoopi defending her love of BSG and LOST on “The View”? Very cool.

Double Edit: Okay, so I went to AOL TV to see what they were talking about on “The View” that day that led to a conversation about BSG and LOST, and what did I see? EJO and Mary McDonnell are apparently scheduled as guests on Thursday. I have to admit, I never really thought of “The View” and BSG sharing much by way of demographics, Whoopi excepted, of course, but hey, any opportunity to see an interview with those two is a good one in my book.

A little of the orange haired one went a long way. But, then again, what would you expect from a guy whose admonition was “Remember boys and girls - always keep laughing!”?

He would have been a real hit in The Fleet. Especially right after they landed on Earth.

Thanks for using my limerick intro! I had a lot of fun putting that together. Maybe I should record my own relaxation techniques CD for people with anger management issues!

The second round was like a giant game of “Memory”. A big board was covered with names of landmarks in the city to which they’d tracked the Villain-of-the-Week. Players took turns turning over locations, trying to find the Loot, the Warrant, and the Crook. The first contestant to uncover all three in that order won the round and proceeded to the Final.

Okay, I had to look up the details on Wikipedia, but I remembered enough to get started.

Huh. I just gained a little respect for The View. Never thot that would happen. I’ll have to try to check that out. Go, Whoop!

I thought that was a Doral and a Six. They were walking together on Caprica.

Yes it was in the 1st season when Helo was still running around on Cylon-Occupied Caprica. (I just got all the dvd’s and had a mini-marathon last night )

It was repeated later. (Leoben to Starbuck in their love nest? Something like that.)

Sorry Pike. But you just died 20 minutes ago --in the Hub Frak party.
(If OUR Pike (you) were on Galactica, you totally woulda survived.)
