…yaeh, we’d be mildly screwed (Sorry Barb)

I love me some Dark City. A friend bought it for me for Christmas one year, and I was like Dark What? Then I watched it, and I was like…cool .

It’s unfortunate that it had so many thematic and stylistic elements in common with The Matrix, leaving it steamrollered in The Matrix’s more flashy wake. This is as good a time as any for GWCers who haven’t seen it to catch it, while we’re on The Matrix arc (especially if you’re un-enthused about watching The Matrix sequels).

I also think that Dark City is an amazing movie. I rember ssing it in the theater, i think the night it came out. I know i saw it durning a movie marathon with my mom. I went in the afternoon and watched the second Jurassic Park movie then i went later in the evening and watched Dark City. You can guess which one is better.

My friends and i every once in a while go up and slowly wave a hand in front of each others face and go “sleep now” and try and make each other fall asleep. It has yet to work.

If someone asked me in 1997, “Within next year, 2 sci-fi movies are going to come out. One will feature Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, and the other will have Keanu Reeves. Which one will become the Sci-fi classic and a box-office smash hit?”, I definitely would have answered wrong.

I was wrong. i went to Dark City with friends. I can’t remember what i saw after i watched the Lost world. What ever it was it i was much better

Oh YEA. its was the bloody 5th Element. And THAT movie is one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of all times. A movie i regularly quote. normally its Leeloos gibberish but still…

That really could have been any movie. (unless you saw Battlefield Earth afterwards)

You dont so much “see” battlefield earth as experience it. and its not a pleasant experience. Something akin to a birthday clown sitting in a kiddie pool full of jelly listening to a Celine Dion and Bryan Adams duet with 15 midgets dancing around him dressed as little pigs throwing sponges at each other.

Wait that might actually be slightly amusing.

Wait again, i think i just fell into the gutter.

You have a disturbingly powerful imagination. Please use your power for good, not evil.

But you’re right, of course. Battlefield Earth is not something that can be explained in words. To truly comprehend the horror, you must experience it firsthand. Like dysentery.

I dunno given a choice between Battlefield Earth and dysentery that’s a toss up in think. I mean Battlefield Earth is much shorter but it has Travolta in it. I think he has been known to cause Dysentery

That’s not actually gibberish. It’s a language that the writer invented as a child. It has actual grammar and vocabulary.

It has happened to the best of us. You just have to pick yourself up every time you slip.

While you may carry your geek card, I’ve been known to carry my Corbin Dallas Mooltipass.

Yea i know. She and Luc Besson would speak it to each other on the set. Mostly we just yell. “Leeloo Dallas Multipass…Mul…teee…passsssss” at each other

Are you saying that they are?

And who told you about the black helicopters???

Renew! Renew!

(okay, that’s pretty awful, but it was my first reaction.) :o

Five kinds of awesome.

I laughed, anyway.

(Hey, that means I’m ten years old! Awesome! I’m going to hang out with Boxy. I can be his annoying sidekick.)

Man I wanted the first one to say multipass…T_T
