GWC Podcast #112

Wrapping up our Star Wars podcast arc, we squeeze in one last podcast solely to address listener calls. Highlights: we check in with GWCers who attended ComiCon, listen to DawnAZ’s “high maintenance” Leia howler, talk Star Wars toys one last time, wonder about SW droid religions, marvel at the uncool that is Corvette Summer, offer to pay for Audra’s Salacious Crumb tattoo, and announce our next arc: The Matrix.

I have to say, Audra’s Salacious Crumb imitation is spot on!

Get the tat! You only live once!

I don’t have any, but if something truly cool came along, I wouldn’t hesitate!

I’ll add to the peer pressure by saying “do it”.

Finally you mention what the next arc is. :stuck_out_tongue:

Someone start organizing the frak party.

What? You afraid your mom’s going to find out?

Everyone’s got one.

Here is something to get y’all ready for the next arc

It’s quite a read but very informative. I really dig the mythology stuff in it.

I had a roommate who had the life-size cardboard stand-up of Luke Skywalker. Her bedroom was at the head of the stairs, and mine down the hall.

When I’d go up to bed at night, that dang thing never failed to give me a start! Especially since she had a night-light behind it that threw a creeepy shadow on the wall! ARGH!

Some Kind of Wonderful was the movie that started my lifelong crush on Eric Stoltz. sigh. dreamy. dumb guy in the movie, but dreamy…

Somebody’s got to have a Hutt on there butt… Anybody?

Edit: I found some examples of SW tattoos here. Some however are NSFW and the cutter Yoda is a little unsettling…

It’s a book.

At 1:04:51 or so I hear BtB. Wow. Boxey is growing up as his voice is a whole lot deeper.

How do people not remember

Some Kind of Wonderful with Lea Thompson?

…also, has Eric Stoltz who ties us to Caprica!

I was 6 years old at the time?

No excuses!

Wow, Audra sings and does imitations.

I distinctly remember being dragged to that movie…

You think Artwo could really make a living in the red light district?

I am so glad I looked at the tattoos before answering this post.

To answer Sean’s question about the King of Siam offering elephants to Lincoln: yes, you’re thinking of The King and I, but that’s based on an actual historical communication between Siam and the U.S. The real offer was a little bit different from the one in The King and I, though; if you’re curious, you can read the King’s letter here. I’d never heard about Lincoln cross-dressing, though.

I checked and the two of the Matrix movies are on cable TV this week.

Lincoln did enter the capital secretly because there were a lot of threats to his life from southern sympathizers, but he wasn’t in a dress. There were also stories that Jefferson Davis was in a dress when he was captured after the war, but those were storied that were spread at the time to further discredit him, because he lost the war.
