GWC Podcast #111

So I wrote brief-ish blog post, for me at least, about Star Wars, viewing the Rebels members of terrorist cell.

Excerpt: “The destruction of the first Death Star, with a personnel capacity of over a million by some estimates, was devastating on many levels to the Imperial forces. Imagine an aircraft carrier the size of Manhattan being utterly devastated by a terrorist bombing, and imagine the political, military, economic and social fall-out that would entail.”

can someone send me the link to get the free audible book…please

I was also thinking i will start reading the novels that take place right after return of the jedi. what is the name of that trilogy? and in what novel does Luke go “loopy” as Sean mentioned? and finally is that trilogy a good place to start or should i pick it up at another point? Thanks!

In one of the forums, someone (I think it was Chuck) laid out a list of all the SW books and in time-line order. I’ve searched around and can’t find the darn thing. OG’s - Help LordFuture out!

GL had no respect for woman. If he did he would have Han say change his shirt or finish getting dressed as he walked through the door. I mean Han did not strike me as a shy man. Why should he not feel comfortable in his own ship. I do think if it was made today we would definitely seen more skin. Oh we do in 1-3 so maybe GL changed his ways.

this what you’re talking about? it’s in the SW comic forum

Darn LadyD you had my hopes up. I did not read the quote first so I thought you were talking to me. Then the link would go to a shirtless Han. Oh, well that is what you get for not reading the details.

this what you’re talking about?

Now that is what I am talking about. Indy knew how to dress uh not dress. Indy should have taught Han. Thank you for your kindness.

OOOOOO that made me an OG. I should have been more profound.

if i could have any Jedi power, i think Force Bake would be high on the list. anyone for scones?

You have simple needs. That is very Jedi like. Now if I cold just clean my house with a Jedi power it would be great for me.

I would love a scone.

excitement? adventure? a Jedi craves not these things.
unfortunately, my training is incomplete, so i can’t actually Force Bake any scones. i guess it was kind of rude to have offered, knowing i couldn’t follow through.

Learning is ongoing. Send some when you gain the skill.

It was the late '70s / early '80s… I’m surprised they didn’t wear them with turtlenecks and corduroy sports coats

Well I agree about there being more equal opportunity skin in the prequels, but as I’ve said all over the place, GL’s view of women is not ideal, to say the least.

Profundity is overrated, especially in an OG.

On Slave Leia - yeah she does awesome stuff, strangles Jabba, etc. But the bikini was gratuitous, and sadly typical of a lot of sci-fi. A woman can be kick(sorrybarb), but she also has to wear as little as possible. Check out the comics covers…

And I think it’s on the special features DVD? But Carrie Fisher did an interview where she talked about having to sit certain ways and that yeah the crew definitely saw more of her than was captured on film. (Imagine sitting in a metal bikini. It doesn’t move with you.)

this is what I think he was talking about. it’s in the SW comic forum

aww… i wish boxbox was in the starwar movies

The original ending music, yes, also awesomeness. I also like Lapti Nek better than Jedi Rocks (music at Jabba’s).

And wow I came across this one, too… which is fabulous. We can have an Ewok sing along, plus it’s in the right key (I know the other one’s from a VHS, wow the tones have gone up over the years…)

And since you all know how much I love Star Wars music  here’s the side by side comparison between Jedi Rocks and Lapti Nek (I prefer Lapti Nek, but I know some prefer the other… just putting it out there…)

Thanks for the Ewok translation vid. that was great. I’ve read the translation before, but never presented alongside the song.
